Location: Located near the town of Knob Noster, among the wooded, rolling hills of West-Central Johnson County, and 60 miles east of Kansas City, is Whiteman AFB. Today, Whiteman is the home of the 509th Bomb Wing, which operates and maintains the Air Force's premier weapon system, the B-2 bomber. Mission partners on Whiteman also include the 131st Bomb Wing, 442d Fighter Wing, 1-135th Helicopter Battalion.
