Lemoore Naval Air Station (NAS) Housing and Information:

Location: Naval Air Station Lemoore, the Navy's newest Master Jet Base, is located in California's Central Valley. Lemoore and its nearest neighboors Hanford and Visalia offer historic downtowns, community events and small-town charm. Fresno is a 40 minute drive away and offers music and art venues, major sporting events and fairs. To the east is some of California's most spectacular scenery, including Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks. Kaweah, Shaver and Huntington Lakes provide a year-round playground for hiking, canoeing, skiing and other outdoor activities. Lemoore is also centrally located between the San Fransisco Bay area and Los Angeles. Residents can take day and weekend trips to Monterrey, Big Sur, Pinnacles National Park, Hearst Castle, Disney Land and many, many more California Landmarks. Area Population:  Lemoore has a population of 25000. Hanford, located 20 minutes from base, has a population of 54.686. Both towns have charming historic downtown districts, with shops and restaurants. Hanford has many commercial shopping opportunities including big box stores. Fresno is a major metropolitan center, with a population of near one million people and is located approximately 45 minutes from base.

Schools: Kings County has 13 public school districts, with 52 public schools, 7 Private Schools and a total enrollment of 27,892 students according to the Kings County Office of Education. With the exception of public charter schools, the school your child attends is determined by school residential boundaries. Each local school district has policies regarding intradistrict/open enrollment and interdistrict/reciprocal agreement transfers and charter school enrollment. There are no DOD schools at NAS Lemoore. However, there are two public schools located onboard the Naval Air Station belonging to the Central Union School District serving children from kindergarten through the eighth grade: Admiral Akers Elementary School and R.
