Location: Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is located in Oak Harbor, WA, on beautiful Whidbey Island, part of Island County, which is in the northwest corner of Washington State, 90 miles north of Seattle. Within close proximity to the San Juan Islands and the Cascade and Olympic mountains, Whidbey Island is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. NAS Whidbey Island is comprised of two bases five miles apart: the Seaplane Base and the Naval Air Station (also known as Ault Field).

Schools: The major school districts serving Naval Air Station Whidbey Island include:
Oak Harbor Public Schools - There are five elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school, in the Oak Harbor School District, plus a program for alternative learners, a cooperative service for home-schooling, and several private school options. Due to the number of elementary and middle schools, you will be assigned to the school closest to the area you reside in.
Coupeville School District - There are three public schools in Coupeville: one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school.
Anacortes School District - There are five public schools in Anacortes: three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The district supports a system of choice for elementary school placement. Students are placed in a school according to Anacortes School Board Policy #3131. However, you may indicate a preference for placement by filling out the Elementary School Assignment Preference Form.
Housing: Naval Air Station Whidbey Island's government housing has been converted to Public Private Venture and is optional. There are currently over 1,500 housing units available. Maylor Point and Forbes Point Housing are the only housing areas located onboard the installation on the Seaplane Base. All other housing areas are located on government property with the majority located just outside the Seaplane Base. Whidbey Apartments are located just outside the main base. Wait times vary according to bedroom entitlement and availability of units within each zoned area. Call the Housing Services Center, at 360-257-3331, for availability.
