Maxwell Air Force Base (AFB) Gunter Annex Housing and Information:

Location: Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex are located in Montgomery County, city of Montgomery, Alabama’s state capitol, and in Alabama's historic River Region. Montgomery's Tri-County area is rich in history and combines a small town atmosphere with big city features. Montgomery is centrally located 82 miles south of Birmingham, the largest city in the state, and 162 miles from Atlanta, Georgia. Maxwell-Gunter is home to Air University, the 42d Air Base Wing, the 908th Airlift Wing, Headquarters Operations and Sustainment Systems Group and many associate organizations. 

Schools: There is one DDESS Elementary School on Maxwell AFB. Students in grades 4 yr old preschool - 8th grade who reside in permanent housing on Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex are entitled to attend the DOD Elementary School located on Maxwell AFB. School Liaison Office, 334-953-3799.

Housing:  The Housing Office is the point of contact for everyone making living arrangements, on- and off-base. Information pertaining to on-base privatized family housing and unaccompanied personnel housing can be obtained from this office.  Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex has 501 family housing units that have been privatized and conveyed to a private owner, Pinnacle Hunt Communities.
