Eglin AFB & Hurlburt Housing Guide

Location:  Hurlburt Field is located on the Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle, 35 miles east of Pensacola (United States). Hurlburt Field is located in the city of Mary Esther, Florida and is very close to Eglin AFB. This area is also known as the Emerald Coast and is a major tourist attraction for its breathtaking white beaches and the emerald green waters. Hurlburt Field's homepage.

Cost of Living:  The area is a high cost of living area and has relatively low wages.

Area Population: Okaloosa County 190,083, Santa Rosa County 158,512

Schools:  Students at Hurlburt Field attend schools in Okaloosa County Schools website or Santa Rosa school homepage. Since there are no elementary, middle or high schools on base the children of families living on base housing will attend one of the following schools: Mary Esther or Florosa Elementary, Max Bruner Middle School or Fort Walton Beach High School. Families living in the south end of Santa Rosa County (Navarre) will attend Holley-Navarre Primary, Holley-Navarre Intermediate, West Navarre Primary, West Navarre Intermediate, Holley-Navarre Middle, Woodlawn Beach Middle, and Navarre High School.

Hurlburt Field Housing:  Corvias Military Living is Hurlburt Field's privatized housing partner. They began operations in September 2013. Currently, there are 380 homes on base, most of them built between 1957 and 1976. There is a 5-year plan to demolish all of these homes and replace them with 404 new energy efficient 3 and 4-bedroom homes with modern appliances and fixtures and two-car garages. Additionally, they will build a 8000 square foot community center with swimming pool, fitness center, and media room.
