Location: The NSA Northwest Annex is located in rural southern Chesapeake, Virginia on the border of North Carolina. Approximately 2/3 of the land is located in Virginia, while the remaining 1/3 is in North Carolina. Northwest is approximately 40 miles southwest of Virginia Beach, 35 miles south of Norfolk and Portsmouth, 70 miles south of Williamsburg and Yorktown, 35 miles north of Elizabeth City, NC and 60 miles Northwest of the Outer Banks. The mission of Naval Support Activity (NSA) Norfolk, Northwest Annex is to coordinate and provide multi-service shore activity support.

Chesapeake is the second-largest city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. A diverse city with few urban areas as well as many square miles of protected farmland, forests, and wetlands, including a substantial portion of the Great Dismal Swam.
Schools: The following school districts service NSA Northwest Annex. A number of private schools are also available in the area.
Housing: The Hampton Roads region has several housing areas. There are 23 enlisted housing areas with a total 4,119 units, 6 officer housing areas with a total of 235 units and 30 flag officer units. The housing assignment is predicated upon your needs and availability. Wait time can be as little as 0-3 months, or as long as 18-24 months.
Have you heard the buzz about Burke? That would be Burke, Virginia! Burke is a popular place to live if you are stationed in the Washington, D.C. area. The Pentagon, Navy Yard, Capitol Hill, The White House, Fort Belvoir, Fort Meyers, and Crystal City are all easy commutes from Burke. When we were house hunting in NoVA (Northern Virginia) as we prepared to PCS to the area for my husband's upcoming tour at The Pentagon, Burke was one of the places that was at the top of our list.
