"Older"

We really enjoyed living in this community. Close to good schools and shopping. There is a pool and park close for our community. Ilthere is also a gym in the pool building. Living close tot eh commissary/New was nice although it was a small store. Basic necessities. If they weather was great here all year around, it would be the perfect place to live. Thank you

Pros Cons
  1. Beautiful
  1. Busy
  • Recommended: Yes
  • Appearance: well manicured with grass cut, looks uniform, curbs, common areas maintained, suburban, neighborhood parks, neighborhood pool

"Doe Park Housing"

Typical military housing neighborhood with newer homes. Our interaction with the property management was easy through out the application and leasing process, which seems to not be typical due to speaking with others that live here. The neighborhood has plenty of parks, playgrounds and a community center that has a gym, pool and rent-able party space. Homes are newer with wood-like vinyl flooring and attached garages. Size of home and loose pet restrictions are a major draw for the area. Teen center, commissary, exchange and gas station all within walking distance.

Pros Cons
  1. Pet Friendly
  1. requires full BAH payment

"OMC Ord Military Community"

Well, anyone with a DLI class under his/her belt knows about "Fort Ord." If you were in the dorms over on DLI, you may not have seen the housing, but you probably went to OMC for the commissary. The housing on OMC is very old, but they do have a few new neighborhoods, and they also own "La Mesa" housing, which is actually in town, down by MPC. The La Mesa is more convenient for those with class over on DLI. You're still talking 20 minutes up the hill, but no highway traffic. OMC housing is better for those with classes on OMC itself. There's a pool across from the commissary, near the community center, and there's a fitness center in that bldg, too. Those are both accessible to housing residents only. The pool is NOT heated, though they bill it as heated. There's a pool over in the fitness center on La Mesa, too, and that one is warmer. Not really walkable from OMC, though. The housing office offered movie night for the kids and a back to school party, I think. Most residents are only there for a class, so we're talking less than 2 years; quick turnaround for neighbors. OMC is not a military facility; there are civilians living there, and it's open, so it's not gated or covered by SF at the gate (which there isn't) or anything like that.

Pros Cons
  1. Convenient location
  1. So old it's barely maintained
  • Recommended: No
