Park Place: Off Base Area of Town

Review

We were stationed here from the South. We have to say that this is our least favorite place we have ever been to/visited/had to live. Norfolk has a lot of crime (be sure to Crime Map the exact area where you are planning on living beforehand). The prices for real estate and rentals are extremely high for what you get, i.e. a lot of the buildings are older (which is fine), but they are not capable of having washer/dryer connections or even having them where you live. The water quality in both places we lived in was terrible and we had a water filter put on our house due to the cloudy water. It has not been an odd occurance for me to have to call the police. Since living here we now have a huge dog, an alarm and other means of security. Definitely re-think the decision to live in Norfolk if stationed at JEB, NOB, Langley, Camp Allen, Fort Story, etc. If we could do it over, we would pay more and live near the beach where it seems quieter and safer.
