Ocean Lakes: Off Base Area of Town

Ocean Lakes has served us well for the past year. My husband and I have been in an end unit townhouse and loved living in our neighborhood. I was not familiar with VA Beach until we moved and it has been easy to find my way around from the OL area. Ocean Lakes is close to many amenities and it is generally quiet of LOUD jet noice. We have friends who own homes in this area and there is a nice mix of families, couples, and single people. I have also always felt safe when my husband is gone. We do not have children but there are lots of families in the area, many of them are military, and the schools are a major draw to the area. There are lots of playgrounds, parks, and Ocean Lakes is located near a few restaurants and a shopping center. We have been friendly acquaintances with our neighbors and loved the sidewalks for riding our bikes, running, or walking our dog. Unfortunately the cost of renting a single family home or townhome is astronomical and renting is a nightmare, but that is a personal choice and opinion. Through no choice of our own, our landlord has not renewed our lease so we will be moving closer to the oceanfront. I would recommend the Ocean Lakes area. It is quiet, family friendly, and easy to navigate to all of your necessities.
