We moved to Opelika from Auburn prior to having children. From day 1 we had concerns about the school system and on many occasions considered moving to Auburn once we had school aged children.
Opelika city schools has provided an amazing opportunity for my children. From Southview to Northside and then to the middle school, both of my children have been challenged, supported and encouraged by the teachers and the staff.
When my oldest went into the high school, I was concerned but her experience could not be better. She has every opportunity to thrive and the school has been great.
For those parents that are involved with their kids and care about their kids, your children will be in a position of great success. For those parents that are looking for babysitters and do not care about the success of their children, your children will be well taken care of but they will not achieve what they could without your involvement.
The best students at Opelika are no different then those that are the top students at neighboring Auburn. The school system is incredible. Do not move to Auburn just because of the schools. In addition Opelika lacks nothing of Auburn aside from the traffic, students and abundance of student housing.

I have honestly had the worst years of my life at this school. They claim they do everything to prevent bullying but they do absolutely nothing until you tell them something they don't want you to know. some of the teacher are cool and all but others just sit around on their phones all of the time. the students here are rude and are hateful.

Opelika is an incredible place for kids to learn and grow. The programs they offer the students are first class. Their Fine Arts, Athletics, and Career Tech programs add to the overall experience the kids get from great teachers in the classrooms.

My school is a great school to attend. Opelika has definitely prepared me for my college career. I am a graduate of the 2012 class. The arts and athletic programs at the school are truly remarkable. The teachers definitely care for the students and provide a great learning environment for all students. Anyone can excel at Opelika because the faculty and staff are very supportive. My graduating class received over 4.1 million in scholarships. We could not have done it without Opelika nurturing us during our time there.
