We moved from out of state and couldn't be more happy with Oak Mountain schools. We have one in the middle school and high school and they are both thriving in academics and sports.

I am currently a student at this school, and it's a living heck, teachers are sexist, not caring about any of the horrible things students are doing, they allowed a student who sexually harassed another student back to the school after being in a alternative school for ONE MONTH. One month in alternative school after doing that? That needs to be an expellsion, yet they give us a detention for not completing four iready assignments every week. Not to mention, the teachers give us incredibly hard assignments and they are always due the next day and barely give us explanation on the notes. One time I was crying during class due to severe stress given from the school, and instead of helping me out, my math teacher yelled at me and threatened she would give me a zero on the test. I do not recommend this school, and there is many more things I could say about this school, but I think this is enough.

My experience at this school was hectic the bullying, racism, harassment at this school is terrible the teachers get mad at you for no reason always choosing girls over boys . Even when they try to handle racism it doesn't work because this generation of kids is hectic always trying to joke around about stuff that isn't funny. If you are another race than white I Don't recommend this school for you unless you can handle it.

Hello, I am a current student in oak mountain middle. My experience with this school is relatively going well. They are very on top of it when it comes to discipline, and most teachers are good at there job. However, some of them need a little more experience with teaching. I understand sometimes especially toward the end of the year it gets tiring to teach a ton of kids for 6 hours, but nonetheless I believe that they could use a little more skill. I also think that it could be better cleaned, as there is roaches and insects that are constantly seen on a daily. But other than those two things, this is a decent school!

This school is very bad. My grandson needs a textbook for math, but the school is to cheap to buy them. The teachers are sexist, they always choose girls over boys and they gave ny grandson a detention for getting his water bottle and saying that he was cheating. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE!!!!!

We have need a part of the OM system since Kindergarten. The middle school is absolutely terrible. Sure the academics are but but no one sees anything. Bullying, sexual harassment, physically being hit and pushed. The administration cares not to do anything nor do the teachers.
What a shame.

The academics at OMMS are fine. I feel like my child is prepared for the next level academically. However, bullying is rampant. The administration and teachers seem to follow the rule that if they don't see it happening, then it must not have happened. Teachers kids seem to get away with a lot. Students who are known to pick on others and be rude to others win character awards. It diminishes the awards for the students who actually deserve it. I don't think the admin is actually raising students with good character. My child routinely hears kids make racist statements or make fun of special needs individuals. Admin doesn't do anything because they "didn't hear it." At the same time, they say to tell a teacher instead of reacting. They also have "truth statements" for students to submit complaints, concerns, etc with the idea that an admin will follow up with that person. It's been a week since my child submitted one. No one has addressed it. What's the point? The kids who are being harasses feel ignored and the bullies feel untouchable. Admin seems unconcerned and unwilling to change that dynamic.

I am stressed about homework and it is has only been two weeks. There needs to be more adjustment time in the beginning for 6th graders. It is overwhelming to transition to a new school, have 3 locker combinations to memorize, learn a schedule of 7 classes that also changes on certain days of the week, plus keep up with all the information flooding from that many teachers. You can not get caught up and already being punished for homework assignments.

I love this school i moved recently and i missed all my teachers and ive been to 3 different schools and i have to say the best one by far has been OMMS. You can see the sincere interest of the teachers to help the students really understand the information that they'll need in everyday life. you cant find the same interest and generosity of the teachers any where else! In one word: AWESOME!
