My child is in her third year at Madison Academy. We started here and plan to finish here. Our experience has been wonderful. The teachers have been awesome, the curriculum has been above and beyond for her grade level each year. I have absolutely no complaints and love the Hands On Learning that she gets. By reading some other comments I see complaints about homework we have never had an issue. Always been just the right amount. They have a great security set up so I feel my child is safe when she is there. I am impressed by her everyday. She has learned things that I didn't learn for two or three years after her grade when I was a child. And like with all reviews you're going to see good and bad. But take into consideration what the complaints are and then talk to someone at the school about it and find out first hand before you believe everything you read on the internet. Go Mustangs

We just completed our second year at MA and my kids have loved it. Although MA is growing quickly they are still committed to keeping the class sizes small which is a great benefit to my children. They each feel loved and challenged at MA. I have read some of the older reviews about Madison Academy and it seems there are many positive changes happening to create a much different culture and climate. We have nothing but praise for MA!

This was our first year at Madison Academy and my children have loved it. They have met a lot of nice kids and gotten involved in a bunch of different activities/sports, including the school play. They love the gaga ball pit and the longer recess time. The teachers genuinely care about the kids. As a parent I feel welcome at the school and can discuss any concerns I have openly. Definitely do not regret moving from public school to Madison Academy. Wish I had done it sooner.

There are several comments highlighting the amount of busy work given to the students. We can attest that this is still an issue. The amount of homework sent back with students over holiday breaks is ridiculous. In addition, the process by which students are selected to participate in advanced programs needs to be reviewed. Football does take priority and girls sports in general doesnt receive the amount of support or accolades a marginal football program receives. Lastly, there is a males first perception that has been mentioned by at least 10 sets of parents.

Good school for both academics and athletics. It has a long history of providing a quality education from caring teachers. The new leadership team is doing a great job shoring up some deficient areas where things arent bad but could improve.

Overall Im very pleased with the care and education the school provides. For the money, I dont think youll find another private school in the area that can compete.

As a parent of an MA student now in college, I wish that I had not sent my child there. If your student will need to be proficient in math and science in their chosen college path, MA is not a good high school choice.

-Sports-

As a student of 10 years, its terrible. They say God is first, but I promise you, its not. They only care about football. After winning a state championship in tennis, all I got was a good job. Now get back to class. When football won, they canceled school.

-Bullying-

Ever since Ive gone to MA, weve had bullying. The school doesnt care and takes anyone with a steady income. Every time I went to someone about bullying, they basically said get over it. They are Useless.

-Teachers-

The teachers here are terrible. All of the elementary teachers cant teach ANYTHING correctly. This school (especially elementary) is run by nepotism. Ive had a few good middle/high teachers, but the rest are only there to socialize.

-School Work/Homework-

They only give busywork. Ive been an advanced student from an early age. This school killed that. Ive had teachers tell me I couldnt read certain books because Im too young. All the work they give is stupid.

-Leadership-

The leadership here is terrible. Ive only had maybe 2 good leaders.

-Drugs-

This school has cigarettes, vape, and other thing rampant at this school. Every time someone is found with one, they are sent home for one day, only to come back the next day. They take anyone here.

-Summary-

This school has a bullying issue that they cant take care of. God isnt first, Football is. They only give busywork and drugs are rampant. This is a glorified public school.

This is an amazing school that prepares students for college and beyond. They are an Apple certified school and a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

When my girls graduated from Madison Academy, I had a very grateful heart! I knew they were being taught by teachers with my value system, and I could trust that the teachers were guiding them to live a life God desires them to live and be the best version of themselves. They went on to be successful in college and in life.

Don't be fooled by the name and shiny packaging... This school is terrible. Their priorities are severely misaligned and disingenuine. MA does not support individualization, nor do they accommodate any sort of learning differences. The administration is easily bought and controlled by financial contributors, this results in the quality of education being determined by dollar signs. Behavioral consequences are governed in much the same way. The quality of education is ridiculous and the athletic focus is prevalent. There are much better schools in the area where your child will be valued and actually receive a quality education.

MA does not seem to adhere to research-based homework practices. Workbook pages after workbook pages, with little to no practical relevance to the actual curriculum and effective instructional methodology.

Teachers at this school are ineffective, at best. There are a few exceptions, but my child's experience with the teachers has been less than ideal. The teachers are more concerned with socializing amongst themselves than teaching. Instructional design is subpar with zero differentiation or deviation from their teaching manuals. If your child does not fit into their "cookie-cutter" expectations, they are reprimanded and belittled.

Bullying is rampant in this school... from the administration, the teachers, and the students. For this to be a Christian school, there is a serious disconnect in displaying and modeling those Christian values.

I can only speak for the elementary school, but leadership is a joke. There seems to be a vast disconnect from effective disciplinary methods and what is actually being implemented. The principal has a noticeable bias in which punishmnet prcedures are reflective.

Zero differentiated instruction, even upon request. If your child needs any sort of accommodations outside of the norm, you won't get them here.

The new administration does not lead by example. They also mislead the public in believing that the teacher/student ratio is 15:1. That has never been the case for elementary or middle school. It is around 20:1 ! Big difference.

Terrible. This school is sports focused. They also discriminate between boys and girls when it comes to discipline. The new administration does not set a good example. Teachers who do not like children should not teach!

As an alumnus and former parent, I have witnessed the impact the school can have on a child. The teachers genuinely care. They are accessible when a parent has concerns. Even though its reach is larger than a neighborhood, it is my neighborhood. My closest friends are Madison Academy families. The spiritual focus is important to me. They don't claim to be perfect, but they really try to help students make good choices as they form their own faith.

We chose Madison Academy because we wanted our kids to attend a school that provided christian values to the students and a strong education. Madison Academy failed our family terribly. Our experience is limited to Little MA and the elementary school so, I cannot speak about the high school in good conscience. Little MA was a good experience. My kid absolutely thrived in the loving environment however, the teaching was sub par. Ms. Jody the principal really tries her best to provide the kids with a fun learning environment but, even she can only do so much when the high school is clearly the golden child.
Our elementary school experience was TERRIBLE. We had Math teachers who couldn't teach the material, Science teachers who chose to not teach science topics because of personal beliefs, teachers unwilling to meet for parent conferences etc...
The school is UNORGANIZED. There's a disconnect between the front office and the teachers. Information is often incorrect and distributed at the very last minute. School is often cancelled for sporting events leaving parents scrambling for child care etc...
NEPOTISM absolutely rules this school. Board members, members of Mayfair Church of Christ followed by other church of christ churches are given preferential treatments. The school has a discipline issue and is clueless as how to solve it. Bullying behaviors are not addressed (Several parents pulled their kids out this school year because their kids suffered incessant bullying and nothing was done). The elementary school principal is useless and clueless.
Madison Academy may have started out wanting to provide Christian parents a strong Christian education for their kids, but they've lost their way. The school is no more than a glorified public school where kids are indoctrinated with minimal educational substance being provided. Don't be fooled by the shiny new facilities. A school is intended to provide children with the educational foundation they need to become civic minded and responsible adults. Madison fails terribly at that unfortunately.

I attended MA from K-12. Do not waste your money! The school only cares about making money and worshipping sports. When I first began at MA, it wasn't as much of this. However, during the past decade, MA has begun spiraling out of control. The academics were mostly good and I did have some great teachers, but I was not prepared for the real world. Being sheltered in the MA bubble for 13 years did more harm than good. Once I graduated, it was such a culture shock. I didn't know how to handle it. The hypocrycy, worship of idols (sports), and bullying is worse than it has ever been. God has been taken out of this school. He is no longer the top priority. If you're looking for a Christian environment that cares for your child, this isn't the place for you.

It is my opinion that the new Elementary Principal, School President and leadership personnel have sent MA into a tailspin. The school seems to have lost its way since changes are being made for the sake of distancing the new leadership from the old. Sometimes new/different is not better. Academics have suffered greatly...most of this school year, my child has simply reviewed content learned in the previous grade. It appears that the teachers are trying to keep up with all the changes made by MA school leaders...including major curriculum changes. In fairness, some of the curriculum seems promising. Unfortunately, there were so many changes made in a short period (not just curriculum changes), the teachers appear to be overwhelmed. Also, there does seem to be a discipline issue that goes unchecked since attention is focused elsewhere. The current leadership seems to be mainly focused on efforts that would enhance recruitment (how things look from the outside) not focusing on current student needs...MA needs to return to what made the school so great (core values including strong academics, character building and accountability).

I went to school at Madison Academy from kindergarten through 12th grade. I am now in college, and I can honestly say that I am thankful that I was able to go to Madison Academy. Now that I am in college, I miss the Christian environment and the teachers who actually cared about me. As a junior in college with a 4.0 GPA, I know that Madison Academy gave me what I needed to be succeussful in college. Not only am I able to handle the academics in college, but I have also been able to stay strong in my faith.

I transferred my three children into this school from another private school in this area thinking it would be a safe and academic environment seeing this is a Christian School. The academics are not up to par to National standards - this was our first disappointment, I have had to enroll my children in outside extra curricular math just to keep them learning and moving forward verses staying stagnant. The biggest disappointment is how this school allows bullying to occur. We have learned this school offers scholarships to kids based on their athletic ability, thus if these children are bullies they receive no discipline and rather are very protected. My son has been bullied by one child since we have been their this year, I have had multiple documented meetings with his teacher as well as the lower school principle and each time the outcome is the bully has been protected. I do not recommend this school to anyone searching for high academics nor a truly Christian environment in which bullying is not tolerated. We will not return next year - it is not worth the money.

They have no discipline set up for school bullies. The new principle is not effective. She has added common core math that has everyone confused and wondering why we are paying for this private school when it's the equivalent of public school.

I absolutely love Madison Academy! As a student, I can tell you that the school challenges me academically as well as spiritually. Some people think that because the school is Church of Christ affiliated, their child might not be treated the same way as all the other children, but that simply is not true. I am not Church of Christ, but I find that it does not hinder me in anyway. A student's experience here is what they make of it, not what others make of it for them. My favorite thing about this school is its love of Christ. We are really just one big family who can join together and worship him not only in chapel, but also in the classroom. Many teachers and coaches desire a personal relationship with each student, and they strive to help their students reach their academic and spiritual goals everyday. If you want your child to be challenged academically, athletically, and spiritually, than Madison Academy is by far the best place for your child. The price may be steep, but I truly think it is worth it.

Worst decision I've ever made. Practically homeschooled my child the entire time. I feel that I and my child were poorly treated and sought better more cost effective alternatives. I personally feel that the school isn't worth the money we paid and spent. I'm extremely disappointed! Don't waste your time or resources!

This school is what you make of it. They offer an advanced degree with some AP classes. It is true that they do not offer as large of a selection as a Bob Jones. It is a much smaller environmnet and very clicish according to church affiliation. It is much easier to have a child in different grades because they are all on the same campus. Some kids graduate from here and do as well as from anywhere else. If you are willing to pay for the convenience and you need the before and after school care, you probably can not beat it. The lower sports class allows for a more average student to make the team and still be competitive. It makes for a good environment and for those who have the income, it is a smaller setting with more convenience for those with 2 working partents. If you are a stay at home parent you can have the same if not better opportunities at a larger school for free. MA is not a God send but it did find a niche that some are willing to pay for.

The school overall is okay. My son doesn't enjoy going and he seems behind his friends who attend public schools. Also, the tuition goes up every year, it has increased 20% just since we have been there. I don't feel it is worth it any longer.

My husband and I love the school and so does our daughter. She will be returning for her third year in 2013. I do wish tuition wouldn't go up every year as it may become difficult to pay much more for education in a town that has great public schools.

As a parent, I found Madison Academy to be academically sound in preparing our children for college. After graduation from MA, my son received an academic scholarship to Birmingham-Southern, and his classmates received over 3 million dollars worth of academic scholarship offers based on their ACT and SAT scores. MA is recognized as an Apple Distinguished School, awarded for demonstrating excellence and leadership in academics. I would highly recommend it as a school with the right balance between academics, extra-curricular activities, and character building.
