Endeavor Elementary School

This is my first experience ever with public school as I was homeschooled. My daughter is going into the third grade this year. She’s been going here since kindergarten. We have been very pleased with our experiences here so far. The teachers have been amazing. The leadership is always on top of things, and very involved. Love how many opportunities there are to be involved in my child’s class or at the school I’m general. Parent involvement is key to your child’s success.

Excellent school. Teachers go above and beyond to provide individual attention. They care about the future success of the student and not just their academic scores the year they have them in class. We have past teachers check in and support our children in all areas of their lives! We love the family atmosphere at Endeavor!

The school ignores the children's needs. This must be all of the teachers who couldn't get hired at the more notable schools.

I actually like the principal's personality a lot. However she is not cut out to run an elementary school. Her teachers and staff have a group/pack mentality and will gang up on a parent. In other words, it is unsafe and ineffective to ask for help.

What homework?? I ask for papers every day. I've received nothing. The teacher has my contact information. However, shocker, I am unable to get in touch with her.

No communication between vital staff members. I would say my child's needs have been met at a sub par level. Furthermore, my numerous attempts to provide intervention for my special needs daughter and 3rd grade son were simply dismissed. However, my son was given detention for the problems I requested the school intervene on. If they had been doing their job, I am confident my son would be in a much better place mentally and emotionally. As a by product, he would do better in class. Like I mentioned earlier, I was promised intervention as far back as January. To date there has not been one single person to meet with him. Not one. I've become a target because of my disappointment with the school. Although my tactics at gaining attention for my son's needs have become increasingly frustrated and angry, I will continue to fight for him. He deserves it. I've had to withdraw my other 2 children from this school for numerous reasons. I desperately want my son to homeschool or switch schools. My only option is moving at this point. That's a whole other area of frustration and anger I won't go into. Nonetheless, the absolute worst elementary school my children have been to by far. I would recommend an entire restaffing or retraining. It feels like a teenage clique versus the parent (me & you). It's pitiful, really. Other schools that earn 5 stars from me: MXR, Monrovia and Heritage. Endeavor simply does not focus their attention on the kids. Rather, it's all unnecessary systems that are ineffective at best. SOMEONE HELP THE KIDDOS AT THIS SCHOOL!!

I love this school. My kids and I havery moved and attended schools in Tucson, AZ, North Carolina and now Endeavor... it has been my favorite and best experience yet. My kids are on IEPs for speechand their team has been wonderful. My oldest recently was accepted into the gifted program. The staff and teachers are on their game. They're super friendly. Some slightly less than others in the beginning, but once they get to know you they're good. Everyone is helpful and ready and willing to invest their time to provide the best academic experience they can offer. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is - I love this school.

I felt the need to leave a newer review since the principal has changed. The new principal as of August 2015 is amazing. Her name is Karen mardis and she's so sweet and very hands on. I am a kindergarten mom, with my first baby in school. It's scary to send your baby off for the first time to people neither of you know. I can't say enough good things about endeavor. Parent participation is highly welcomed and ale times I am at school every day in a week helping out with something. I've gotten to know a lot of the staff and Pta heads and other parents and they are just wonderful. My son has Ms. Bui for his kindergarten teacher and he loves her and so do I. Her communication is excellent and my son feels comfortable with her. He's learned so much. I love this school and I couldn't be happier that we chose to move to this district.

I can't say enough good things about the teachers at endeavor. As an active pta mom I spend a lot of time at school helping out and they are all wonderful.

I'm only a kindergarten mom but so far the homework is reasonable . 1 or 2 pages a night isn't bad.

This is an excellent school for elementary school children. My son and daughter attended this school and have very fond memories. The M. Hicks, Endeavor's Principal, encourages parents to play an active role in their child's education. The teachers are exceptional, they love teaching and are about every child's progress.

I have two children at Endeavor and we love it. The discipline at this school is structured and enforced with care for the well being of all. Life has plenty of rules and I prefer my children learn those rules early in life. The new Vice Principal is OUTSTANDING and does a wonderful job each and every day to provide an environment conducive to learning and fostering self esteem. Most of the teachers are excellent. Accelerated reading and math programs are available to each teacher, but not all take advantage of them. Volunteer opportunities are available overall though not every teacher wants all parents involved in their classroom on a weekly basis. Endeavor is doing very well and I expect to see them continue to support their very adequate math and science programs even further in upcoming years.

I have one child who has been at Endeavor for four years now. We have been very pleased with the school. I really do not understand the complaints about "the rules" and the lack of parental volunteer opportunities. In life, we have rules. They ensure order and safety and without a set of behavioral guidelines, teachers cannot do their jobs properly. We have never found the rules to be overly strict or unfairly enforced. Secondly, I have taken many opportunities to volunteer, whether it be reading to the class helping with class functions or just making copies and helping the teachers. The bottom line is no school is perfect, but this really is one of the best in the area. My son has been involved with four regular education teachers, one special needs teacher and numerous support staff and they have all been very friendly and helpful. I have always had excellent communication with the teachers and staff and they have been a very big part of his academic success. Bottom Line: You will get out of this school what you put in! Excellent school!!!

I totally agree with the comments about the school missing the mark with math and science. My son is in 1st grade and the teacher constantly complaint about everything and anything he does, I swear sometimes he is in bootcamp. I am confuse about the claim of each child will progress as they go but in first grade the teacher press the kids to test on third and fourth grade reading material. My son was reading before he went to endeavor and doing math on a first grade level, but the teacher is so bent on AR, the rest of areas go lacking. We asked his teacher to come to school on several occassions to help out with class activities and was told we can't, funny when there motto is parents and teachers working together. We are really considering home schooling our kids or sending them to private school.
