Competent Teachers and Administrators are doing everything they can to teach; but they can't do it alone. They need more adults from the community working with kids 1:1 on site in the early grades for reading at Chapman and the feeder schools. Only a dozen neighbors in the surrounding area who are retired are there at Chapman helping teach reading. And the Older kids desperately need mentors and coaches to get to know them, help keep the athletics and music and clubs going strong. The surrounding neighborhoods need to be at the school, as coaches, tutors, workers, and yes, fund raisers reaching outside the parent circles.
Frequently, the neighbors / parents who have kids in the school are working two jobs and simply don't have energy left to volunteer or don't have the skills to help out. Days are gone for blaming parents. Public schools are the public responsibility. Join us to help! www.nehsvcivicassn.com

Stephen Covey's leadership skills for kids "A leader in me" gives the teachers and students a common frame of reference. I hear teachers of the youngest children asking "is that a good choice?" to have the kids develop self-assessment skills.

I go to this school and i love it, it is crazy with just a few students but we are a HUGE school the teachers are the best especially Ms. Jones ( 7&8 grade science teacher) we have a new principal i would have to say its the best it has ever been. so i would recommend this school a lot of my friends that go to another school they all say they want to come back super bad honestly its the best school i have ever been to.

My child is leaving 8th grade this year and it has been a very trying 3 years at Chapman Middle. There are decent teachers and Dr. Waters trys but the school district has made Chapman a dumping site for many if not most of the troubled students. The neighborhood kids for the most part are bussed to other schools or the parents have simply moved to avoid thier kids attending here. Financially we could not move so my son has had to endure substandard class time due to the disruptive and undisciplined character of more than 75% of the students. The teachers have all but given up and the school year is not over yet. Several of the teachers have had thier hours split between Chapman and another school and ALL will say that Chapman is substandard compared to the other they teach at. All school have trouble but Chapman has more than most in the 6-8th grade slot. Do your research before selecting this school. If you have another option take it, your child will thank you.

I went to Chapman Middle School and it was an above average school and the principal helped everybody who needed help when there was a problem with a student or with a teacher.

The Principal and a few of the teachers(not many)are great !!But there are many other teachers and other non- teachers that should not be working with children!!I would not reccommend this school,not because of academics,but because of the ones who work there!!

The principle is the best thing about chapman middle school, he is the only reason why i loved that school so much.

I agree the school should (not is) be a reflection of its community and it is NOT! The neighborhood kids choose to be bused to another school instead of this one when they come out of elementary. This school has failed to meet AYP many times---it needs to be better!
