The rating of Tucson High does not doo it justice and is not reflective of the amazing nature or offerings of this school! This is an inner city Arts and Science Magnet school with ample performing and visual arts opportunities, as well as opportunities for science overlap at the nearby U of A. I know mostly about the arts and my daughter participated in theater, dance, orchestra, photography, and digital design. There is also film, musical theater, steel drums, many kinds of dance including Folklorico, and art curating as well as other visual arts classes.

Very concerned about the safety of students at this school. During this current school year, there have already been 3 REAL lockdowns, including a student being caught with a knife. Fights are not dealt with appropriately, with at least 1 fight per week. A very small amount of teachers are actually good, and I really do thank them for that. Unfortunately, they are the minority. The main concern for me is the safety of the students including myself. There are also way too many students per teacher.

People may view this school as a bad school but its actually one of bests high schools in the district with rich history to this day , yes people may complain and may say its the worst school and put a bad name for it but Im sorry to say this school is not gonna be the best for everyone entirely but it offers ranges of different studies classes and is known for the massive fine arts and best sciences in the district, the community of people here is really rich in diversity and people get along really well yes theres been some incidents where people didnt quite get along but keep in mind bad apples we everywhere not just here and this is a school of nearly 4000 students , if your quite extroverted and can be on task with the assignments then this school is just right for you , if you are quiet and a bit of a slow learner and dont ask for help or take opportunities when given to you then this school probably is not the best fit for you , But In all means Tucson high Magnet School is family and Ive grown really attached to the community here I love it so much

Coming from a sophmore at this school, it's not a place I would recommend. I have ADHD and require some things that most students don't need. Such as more test time, the dates to turn things in should be a little later for me because I have such a hard time focusing. But honestly, the only reason I can't focus is because I have other things to be worrying about such as safety at the school. We've had multiple incidents at THS and we've had the police at our school on multiple occasions. Overall, I don't feel like I'm getting the help that I need in order to be successful. We get recommended to talk to our counselors about having a 0 or 8th period to help and make up credits that we might have missed in the past, but when I went to ask I got told no! I mean why recommend something if you're not going to let us do it? Honestly, this school has a lot of things to improve on. Another thing is the teachers/staff. Online here it says its a 19:1 ratio of students to a teacher. That is a total lie. I'm pretty sure each teacher has at least 30 students in their care. Also, teachers are constantly not there and we need substitutes. I mean for the first two months of this year, I had to have a different substitute for my world history class because they couldn't find a teacher. Even though this school does have its good qualities such as a variety of language classes and performing and fine arts classes, I wouldn't necessarily say this is the right school to come to. I mean, I myself am currently trying to go back online due to the lack of support I get from this school.

My grandkids chose this school based on what we had heard was a focus on academics. What in reality turns out to be the case, is this place is just another epic failure and misplaced priorities. Teachers that miss substantial days, substitutes that have no access to roll call and as such end up with the kids being marked absent, classes without adequate basic materials for each student, yet they seem to have all the resources you need to have drag contests, pajama day and any number of other absurd garbage entirely unrelated to the charge they have been given.,that being actually teaching a subject.
Any attempt to bring up these failures comes back as an accusation that 'your kids are not managing their time well', and the catch all reply that ,they can make up or fix their work in 'Badger power hour' which is a 45 minute period ONCE A WEEK that has zero access to teachers or the classroom.
There are a handful of teachers there that in fact do make the effort, and I thank them profusely, unfortunately they are in the minority. The bulk of the teachers here are nothing more than useless political hacks, towing the line of the TEA and TUSD admin.
As seen below in the survey, these people seem to believe it is somehow the schools task to provide 'emotional support', 'family engagement' or 'harsh punishment'. They are so committed to 'family support' that the vast majority of teachers did not allow in person parent/teacher conferences, only a 10 minute window or so 'on-line'. Spare yourself the disappointment and send your kids elsewhere.
