I enrolled both of my children at this school—my son attended from kindergarten through 5th grade, and my daughter from kindergarten through 2nd. Over the years, I’ve observed a steady decline in the overall quality of the school experience.
One of the most concerning issues has been the lack of priest involvement and transparency regarding how funds are allocated between the church and the school. It often feels as though the school receives minimal resources while the church absorbs the majority of the funding.

There is also a high turnover rate among both students and staff, which creates instability and affects the school environment. Morale among parents and teachers has noticeably diminished, and there is little to no enrichment offered—field trips, for example, have been nonexistent. Communication between staff and families has been inconsistent, and academic recognition has seemed generic and unearned, with many students receiving the same awards without clear criteria.

Additionally, simple but important maintenance issues, such as changing drinking fountain filters, have gone unaddressed. These oversights suggest poor financial management, whether the school is funded through scholarships or tuition.

While I truly wanted to support this school and see it succeed, I cannot in good conscience recommend it. There are other schools in the area that offer a more stable, transparent, and enriching educational experience.

The students at this school bully, they deface school property, and they have lack compassion. Teachers are unwilling to help students with ‘learning disabilities’ - they label and disregard. I would never recommend this school to anyone.

I love the pre-k teacher, and the front desk staff is wonderful, outside of that I would NEVER suggest someone to send their children to this school, especially if they are not easily molded. I feel like if this school could still instill corporal punishment, they would. They took my sons shoes from him for most of the day and had him walking around campus in socks for most of the day.

My son is only in kinder, so I was not expecting him to have a pile of homework; I did however expect him to learn something while he was in the classroom. I had volunteered in the class and noticed that the teacher had no control over the classroom, and was quick to refuse snacks, and recces to the kids when they were not 'behaving'. When I was in the classroom I saw the students behavior as typical 5 years.

When I was in the classroom I saw the students behavior as typical 5 years. This classroom setting had no transitions, the teacher was reading and let other students color and would get upset when they were talking. She was very reactive to the student, and was quick to yell at them without asking about the situation first. The teacher is rigid, cold, and does not have a professional relationship with any of the children in the class.

My son was newly diagnosed, and the school was fast to label him as a bad kid, gave me three weeks to address medications, and to go through the district to get a 504 plan. I had countless meetings and they would suggest that I take him out of the school just to later kick him out before I was able to get any services in place. The staff (principal and the school interventionist) is pushy, sneaky, and dishonest.

My son was bullied a number of time, he was called the wrong name on purpose, he was called 'trash' by other students, and he was accused by staff for things he did not do (another teacher confirmed that he did not do what he was blamed for), when I brought it to the attention of the teacher she said 'I didn't hear about that'. nothing was done to address the issue

My kids go to this school. They have a great elementary program with a great principal and teachers. They teach leadership and accountability. Sings the American Anthem during school assembly. Teaches religion and community awareness.

The kids are given a daily homework and projects. It should take them 45 minutes but it takes the average child 2 hours.

The pastor, principal and teachers do an amazing job teaching the children good moral values.

My son went to St. Joseph Catholic School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. He is in high school now and is in honors classes and has made honor roll. He was very prepared for high school thanks to the principal and teachers at St. Joseph. Thank you!

I am so happy with the progress my kids have made since we moved them to St. Joseph's. The principal has been more than supportive in helping each of my children succeed. Her changes and attitude have made a crucial impact in our life. It is because of her I will suggest this school to anyone I meet.

St. Joseph's is a school that creates and supports a culture of bullying. The principal refuses to address the issue, and hides behind an inadequate handbook. Students are subjected to verbal and physical harassment with the perpetrators receiving minimal consequences for their actions. In terms of spiritual development, this school is all talk an no action. Removal of the principal and replacing them with a stronger, more progressive individual would go a long way towards improvement. Compared to other catholic schools in the area, the academics are adequate if mediocre. Scholarship is not very well regarded amongst the students - especially those who contribute to the bullying problem. Because of minimal consequences for bullying, other children do not take a stand and speak up against the bullying - knowing full well they will become the next targets. Morally and ethically, this school is demonstrably disappointing.

We moved to Tucson from Virginia in 2004. We have had two kids graduate from St Joe's and three that are still there. We have been nothing short of amazed at the outstanding education and values our children have received there. The staff is terrific - caring & compassionate, yet challenging. Our graduates of St Joe's have goone on to do very well in HS due to their time at St Joe's!
