Many parents of kids with learning issues bring their kids to Berean. The school is uniquely set up to help all kids. As one teacher told me, "A lot of our kids who weren't happy anywhere else have a home here." SO true.

Excellent. Wish we had lived here when my older child was in school so he could have gone here too. We have passed up on opportunities to leave the state because I will not remove my child from this school until he graduates.

They get all the help in school that they need with their work so they rarely have homework, which is great because they go until 4pm M-Thursday.

Flex Friday seems to be their answer to everything. In the meantime I could be working with my child in areas of concern if I knew from the teacher what to focus on.

Not impressed at all. Definitely not bringing my child back after this school year. Very disappointed and feel my child has not been given the proper foundation.

All I see is math homework. Nothing is sent home as far as reading or writing. Feel like I’m having to figure out on my own what to do with my child.

The kindergarten teacher my child has does not respond to requests to meet with me. I have concerns academically and emotionally. All she does is tell me to send him to flex Friday. Poor communication!

I do receive a daily behavior report. On the flip side my child tells me that he gets hurt at school by other children and send to the office. I can’t confirm anything with the teacher because she doesn’t respond.

Listening to the children and staying neutral and maybe bringing in counselors would help. Way too many instances of bullying and not recognizing it and handling it properly. When the kids see bullying as accepted, they continue. When children are afraid to go to school THIS IS WRONG!!!!

When teachers pick their favorites and make it obvious and talk about other students in front of the class....what is this teaching our children???!!!!

This school does not teach the kids anything about integrity, compassion, or respect. The students there disrespect each other and teachers greatly.

Leadership at this school is terrible. The dean of students comes off as nice in the beginning, but as the year goes on, he chooses favorites.

NO. BIG NO. I have kids that have been going to that school for almost this whole school year and they have been getting bullied all the time, even have been attacked by the bullies. And the school has NOT DONE ANYTHING EFFECTIVE ABOUT THIS SITUATION. My kids are STILL getting BULLIED AND ATTACKED and the bullies are not getting THE PUNISHMENT they deserve.

I love Berean Academy. It is a small school and ALL the teachers are awesome. The teachers want to see the students do well and will help them in any way that they can. The principal is great and is involved with ALL the students.

I sat in on my daughters class and watched as her teacher taught math and it was the most simplest math and she was in in the 8th grade. When she went to a public high school she didn't understand anything and failed her freshman year of high school.

My son was suspended from Buena H.S. at the end of the last school year but could return for his Senior year. I put him into Berean Academy and within weeks I saw a difference in my son. He didn't have many friends at first and grades were ok but he seemed comfortable As time went on he began to love it and enjoyed all of his teachers. When I did attend a conference I was so impressed how much the teachers were so personal and yet professional. The year ended well and my son did not want to go back to Buena for his Senior year. He is happy doing well and I just can't say enough about the faculty, the teaching and the reassurance and safety they give their students. Keep up the good work Berean!!!!!

My son has been a Berean Academy student since fourth grade. He came to the school with a disability and many other problems. The community of teachers, staff, administrators, and fellow students collaberated to make him welcome and successful. He graduates this year with honors as a well adjusted and community orientated young man. Thank you Berean Academy with all my heart!

Berean Academy is the perfect fit for my daughter! We came to Sierra Vista her freshman year. She is now a senior and has been accepted to NAU and U of A. She received a $35,000.00 scholarship and is very prepared to enter college. I thank the administration, staff, and faculty for their continuing support of their students! They are the only accredited K-12 school in the area.

My children started at Berean Academy at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. I have had nothing but good experiences ever since. I have twins in high school, and a younger child in sixth grade. The teachers are well educated and great at communicating if necessary. The staff makes sure parents are up to date with outreach messages, a school calendar, and access to student grades. I would recommend this school to anyone!

We moved the kids to this school because my daughter was being refused services at Huachuca Mountain and my son was being "taught" math with a computer and when he struggled he got no help. Berean had evaluated my daughter and she started receiving services less than a month after moving to this school. My son's math score went from C's to A's, and not because the math was easier but because he could ask questions from a real life teacher, not a computer program. My children are thriving. There was a bullying incident with my oldest son and it was taken care of quickly. I was extremely pleased with how the principal handled the incident. I have nothing bad to say about this school.

I am somewhat pleased and displeased with this school. On the positive side, most of the teachers are approachable, and they can be talked to after school if a student is falling behind. I have done this many times,and they do help me when I am struggling in any subject. They are friendly and open. I am a little disappointed in the teachers on another level because they do not discipline the students to stop talking in the class rooms, and it is very hard to concentrate on our work. It uses all of my strength to do my work without getting distracted. I wish the teachers would step up a tad bit more and help the kids who are trying. But as a student in high school, here is my perspective is in the class rooms, many students are very lost in what is being taught, so they do not bother to try to work, and end up failing the class. sometimes if the teachers paired up the actually working students with the non-working students, it would influence them more to do their work, but then sometimes this just causes the student who was actually doing their work to not do it. It all depends on the student. I am some what happy, but somewhat very disappointed with the school.

I love this school and both my 5th grade and 11 grade children love this school. I have met the principal in passing on several occasions. He always has time for students and parents. This is a great school, and I would recommend it to everyone.

I'm so excited about the new "Honors Tract" that the school is implementing this year for the high school students. I have an advanced child in high school who is getting straight A's, now I know that she will be challenged. I heard that they might even be able to take a test at the end of the year and get college credit at the same time. Way to go Berean Academy!!!

This school is absolutely amazing. The curriculum is outstanding, and the attention each child receives on a one on one basis is splendid! Coming from the East Coast to here, I have to admit, the values that are taught at this school is exactly what I was looking for in a school for my son!

Berean Academy is the best school I have ever attended. All the teachers know what and how to do their job. The principal is completely understanding, and will definitely be involved if there is ever a problem. Though all the teachers are nice, they really crack down on uniform violations. The only things you have to pay for are sports and the uniform. I defiantly recommend this school to all who move to Sierra Vista, or have been here a while, but want their kids to go to a different school.

What a shame. Had high hopes for this school. The Principal painted a great picture and promised a lot of interraction with my kids. I had many emails unreturned and requests for help were never fulfilled. The staff is young, inexperienced and immature and not equipped to handle teenagers. Especially those who they don't deem "popular." Those who are more 'mainstream' get the attention...the others are looked at as trouble and treated as such. A huge disappointment.

My children attended this school for 2 years. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the education that my children received. My children are now in schools that are excelling plus and are struggling to keep up. I am having problems understanding how my son is in the fourth grade and has problems reading but received straight A's in school. I know I am partially to blame, but No Child Left Behind and Berean have made it very difficult for me to play catch up with my child.

This is not a good school. We had our son enrolled at PDS, and moved him here before middle school, because we wanted to keep him in a smaller school. After 2 months we had enough bad experiences to convince us to move to Vail. It may be a longer commute for my husband, but it was worth it. Some of the issues... - many of staff young and unprofessional - kids unsupervised (we saw/heard teens cursing in office area, and staff said nothing) - no anti-bullying (my son was told to "stop tattling" when he complained of daily hazing by some other students) - academics are poor (all subjects were more on par with what my son had been learning in 3rd grade, they stopped doing any type of school work 2 weeks before school let out) I could go on and on, but I'm sure you have gotten the general idea. I think that this school is a sad institution, and I feel sorry for the kids who go to school there. They are not in an environment that will allow them to reach their full potential and succeed in life.

I am very impressed with the teachers and principal at this school. They are very dedicated and passionate about what they do. I have a daughter now entering the sixth grade and I am so excited to see what they have in store for her. All of the elementry teachers are outstanding! The new campus is absolutely gorgeous! The only 2 complaints I have is the two font desk girls. I know one of them has been there forever(she sits behind the main desk) she dresses inappropiatley and is always out with the high school kids?And their newest addition (the one who replaced the other young girl in april of this year) is rude and has no idea what she is doing. Complaint #2 is the traffic! Goodness gracious is it crazy out there when school lets out! But no ones perfect! I love the school and would recommend it to anyone!!!

I love Berean! My two children have been there for two years now, and have performed miles better than they did at the public school. The teachers are young and energetic and willing to creatively problem solve. The kids are challenged and encouraged to work toward excellence. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is by far the worst school that any of my children have ever attended ( we are a military family and have seen a number of different schools). It may once have been a place of excellence but now is a dumping spot for troubled youth. It is more suitable as a juvinile detention spot than a place to educate. Teachers have little control over classrooms, staff are poorly educated and seem not to care about reaching academic excellence. Violence among students is common place and bullying a daily activity. Leadership is non-existant, those in leadership positions play favorites and frequently label children. The history teacher has rotated like a revolving door, evidently no one wants to keep the job ,as a result students education suffers. I would not recommend this school to my worst enemy. My child will spend all of next year in a different school trying to make up the complete lack of education recieved this year. As a military Mom I am sad that my child had to attend this nightmare, it was a mistake we won't repeat next year. Army families beware, avoid this place if possible.
