I am a fellow student of this school, and all the kids are extremely racist, religious, and not to mention homophobic in every other way. If one person doesn't believe in god, they will look down on them in disappointment, such as it's their fault for having a specific different religion. It's disgusting how teachers don't care about their students well being, and the discipline is insane. The discipline is not fair, you get in trouble for speaking up for yourself, but not for saying sexual things to other women in the classroom. Some boys are disgusting, sexually touching every other woman they see, and once they get caught they say it's a "joke" as if it was very funny. Everything about the teachers/students is very unhealthy. Some teachers are very nice, but most are very ignorant, and they refuse to believe what a student has to say because the teachers are always superior. I do not support this behavior as it's annoying and terrible for other students' self-esteem. Being a colored person, such as Mexican (me), black, Hispanic, or Asian, is so hard, because every time we just mind our own business, the white boys, including girls, call us the n-word, or any other stereotype that's connected with race. Terrifying.

They give you so much homework if you miss one day you will be behind for at least three days.

Posted: August 14, 2019

Instead of helping kids they discipline them for doing a bad job.

Posted: August 14, 2019

This school definitely develops character, they punish students for speaking up (therefor they cant speak up anymore)

There is no leadership whatsoever it’s horrible.

Posted: August 14, 2019

They treat kids who have trouble learning like they are lazy and can’t do it, if you have depression or anxiety they think you are lying. If you have a real disability they think your just lazy.

Posted: August 14, 2019

They blame the student for any bullying matter, if you get bullied they respond with “I can’t change the way they think” And you get in trouble instead.

This school was one of the worst I had ever been too, the teachers will lie to students and parents they will send hate comments on students social media and dislike there videos. They threaten everyone there. I’ve been to south side schools and this was much worse, they manipulate and lie to make there way to the top, and not to mention almost everyone is religious or racist kids will bully you if you don’t believe god teachers will look down upon you if you don’t believe god, and every white kid calls any kid of color the n-word.

Prior to enrolling in the Benson school system my son was enrolled in Berean Academy in Sierra Vista. He went there for 2 years and had no disciplinary issues. In the last 4 months he has had over 50 instances where he has been bullied or got in trouble for defending himself against the bullies. The same several kids have been involved in every instance and the Principal repeatedly told us that they were "taking care of the situation". After being assured it was taken care of it happened again today. To be fair the bullying instance that took place on the bus to school was resolved quickly and efficiently due to the video recorded on the bus. Overall I don't feel the teachers are bad... but if your child is new to the area I would recommend not allowing them to attend this school. The problems are not widespread and are isolated to a few students but with the schools inability to deal with the problems they present it is clearly unsafe to leave my child in constant danger. On a final note when we withdrew him today he did not get perfect attendance even though he was there every day. The reason..... he spent too much time in the office dealing with the issues of being bullied.

It is very distressing that people will intentionally LIE about this school simply because they are friends with the principle. Yes, there is a huge safety issue for the kids at this school. And the person who said someones feelers must be hurt is probably one of the parents who's child is doing the bullying. After all, why attack someone for honestly saying there are problems at this school? It is a fact. This school has a lot of bullying and because everyone knows each other nothing is being done and ignorance is being left to breed more ignorance. Bottom line is, this school is one every parent should avoid.

My kids go to Benson Schools. I am very involved in the programs at BMS. There are isolated incidents in every school. The Principal is amazing and treats kids with the upmost respect. She helps kids become better students and citizens. The teachers challenge kids, the kids know what is expected, discipline is fair. Overall you cannot get better than Benson schools. They are a small town gem and we are lucky to have the leadership guiding our children here in Benson. I have been elsewhere and you won't find a better team than Benson schools. You cannot be #1 in the state of Arizona and have poor leadership. BENSON TEAM YOU ARE GREAT and thank you for educating my children

Sounds like some ones feelers are hurt ! Anyways A+ school ...maybe the ones with the hurt feeler should show up and have a face to face chat ! As you can tell the education of this parent also isn't up to standard ! Spell check is free !

Sadly this school has not improved with the bullying. Now we have a principle who does this and she is NEW! She is by far worse than the prior principle. At least the former got the school grade up to the top of the district. Basically, kids going here fall into two categories. They are either being bullied or they are the bully! Since Mrs. Finch is "friends" with most of the kids parents who are doing the bullying, good luck getting this to stop! As for being qualified for this position.....that is a joke. There are teachers working for this lady who are better qualified and would have made a much better choice. The teachers of math, science, and computer are the only respected and honorable things going for this middle school. Be strongly advised not to send your kid here. Don't let the elementary and high school fool you. The middle school is not up to the same wonderful standards as they are.

I love this school! The staff is very helpful & friendly, the principle is approachable & has such enthusiasm. I'm excited for my daughter to start this coming school year.

My kids' grades have improved since coming to Benson Middle School. The 6th grade teachers keep the kids focused; the kids never turn in homework late. I think having men teachers in 7th grade helps keep the kids who might become rebellious from doing so. Mr. Sherman is an amazing Math teacher!

I have seen many schools around the area and have found Benson Middle School to be one of the highest in quality. From the moment you walk on campus you feel at home. Clean campus, fresh cut grass, and friendly staff and students. In my interactions with the teachers I know they have the best interest of the children in mind. What a wonderful place to be.

I see by the previous comment that the school did NOT improve with the pricipal change. Probably worse. So disappointed in the admin. The bullying is not only the nasty students but from teachers as well. No support for the kids that need it.
