Rolling Hills Prep is the gold standard for how all education should be taught. The academic support is bar none and they take the whole child into account during the school day. A wide variety of classes are offered including honors and APs. If Upper School students have a specific interest, they can apply for Specialized Diploma program where they focus on a certain area like arts, math, or global studies. They get a staff mentor and a present a Capstone Project. This offering included within tuition and is a great addition for motivated students for their college applications. There are a variety of clubs and extra curricular activities, and the school supports the arts well. For the most part, all students are welcome to participate sports and the boys Basketball program is ranked high. RHP holds multiple community events throughout the year and is diverse in all areas. The faculty and staff are happy, caring and very patient. For a small school, they have a lot to offer!

My Son is a senior and has been at RHP since sophomore year, transferred from Mira Costa. He doesnt have a learning challenge, but we had a feeling hed benefit from being in a small school. He learned to advocate for himself, has found love for subjects he wasnt interested in before, has a great group of friends, plays on 4 sports teams, and has outstanding grades. Truly a blessing that we made the move a few years ago!

Our daughter is a sophomore at RHP and is loving it! She is offered mainstream and specialist classes for dyslexic minds. Shes involved in 4 clubs and the cheer team and is looking towards college. So many great things to say about this unique, diverse school and its community of families!!

This is our third year at Rolling Hills Prep and we could not be happier! We have two children here, one in Rolling Hills Prep and one in the Renaissance program. The school is a perfect space for both my kids, who have very different learning styles, to be met and challenged academically, provided social/emotional support and guidance and encouraged to participate in our incredible athletics program. In Renaissance, students are offered support through its program by pairing your child up with a learning specialist that they meet with twice a day for 50 minutes. That learning specialist will check in and help them with executive functioning skills, how to time your long term projects, getting homework completed and teaching self advocacy to prepare them for college. They offer honors and AP classes to both RHP and REN students. My child in REN is challenged academically with some remarkable classes and benefits from the executive functioning and social emotional skills taught throughout campus. The teachers are engaged and make learning fun and interesting. It is a very diverse campus, both with students and faculty and staff. We have a great athletics program with Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Surf, Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Flag Football and Cross Country. The benefit of being a smaller school is that we are a strong community. Everyone supports one another and the kids are thriving.

The benefits of Rolling Hills Prep couldn't be more clear than during this challenging time of sudden distance learning. The teachers are engaging and present (even if virtually) and learning is continuing as usual. This is in stark contract to my other child who is at our local public middle school where distance learning has been haphazard and ineffective.

This school was a complete game changer for our family. We transferred from a very disappointing experience at MBUSD and immediately saw a difference. The campus is charming, the administrators are warm and welcoming, but it is the exceptional teachers and academic curriculum that shines brightest at this relatively undiscovered gem.

Bullying at this school is not even a consideration. Kindness and respect are enforced. But the kids are all honestly so nice, it is probably easy o implement.

Our experience at RHP and REN in the year that our son has attended this school has been one that every student should have. The teachers are dynamic, caring and truly invested in the kids. The Ed Specialists in the REN program are angels on Earth. My son has some learning differences and has thrived in this program because he is getting the support he needs, but is also held to a standard of personal growth and academic rigor that he can certainly meet. If you get the chance, spend five minutes talking to the Head of School, David Maher, and you won't have any hesitations about the mission, the heart or the future of this school. So grateful to be a parent of a RHP Husky!

Its an amazing school, its like a big family, people are friendly and always helpful. Im very grateful that my son attends this amazing school! Classes are small, your child gets all the support it needs, I cant praise this great school and its wonderful teachers enough! I highly recommend Rolling Hills Prep and Renaissance School!

This leadership is not effective at all and the administration isnt organized in the slightest. The teachers interpret the school rules by themselves, so each teacher has a different view of what the rules are. The leadership doesnt have the support of many of the teachers from what Ive talked to.

There are very dedicated learning specialists at this school, but they are held back by the administration. The school doesnt supply actual quiet places for the students to take their assessments and many accommodations are not given to the students in class.

Many students that attend are bullies and they have targeted certain students that no one in the administration assists. Teasing runs rampant and students laugh at other students that struggle with certain subjects. None of the teachers talk about bullying and their hasnt been a seminar on it in the past few years.

This school is making many changes that are focused on attracting new students and improving public image. The school should instead focus on improving the conditions for the current students because they are suffering. I recommend that you dont consider sending your child to this school because soon they will be very unhappy.

This school overloads the students and expects them to more homework than they should to get a good night of sleep. The school does not give homework accommodations even though they pride themselves on flexibility for students with learning differences.

Although many teachers are dedicated and kind, there are a few teachers that make the students feel unsafe and dont provide a conducive environment for learning. Certain teachers are not prepared to teach and dont have have the material to teach ready.

Rolling Hills Preparatory School is a phenomenal environment for any child. My son has been at the school now for 4 years and he has loved every single one of his teachers. He has blossomed both academically and socially in the safe and caring community.

I am an alumni and current parent. This school was the best place we put our son.He started here as a 6th grader and just graduated Magna Cum Laude and got into his dream college on early decision at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the engineering department. He was very prepared for college. My daughter started RHP as a 6th grader and just started their high school program. This school really prepares their students to be well rounded scuessful students. The atmosphere of a strong community is felt as soon as you step on campus.

The sense of caring about your child really comes across at this school. Academic success is fostered by teachers who challenge but support the students. Unlike the stuffy template that exists at at some private schools, there is a genuine celebration of individuality here. With a comfotable, uncrowded learning environment, both of our children were able to tap into hidden potential, experience things they never would have in a public school setting, and grow in ways we never thought possible.

We love being part of such a great school community. Every member of staff - teachers, head of schools and office all work amazingly hard to ensure every student gets individualized attention and an opportunity to reach their full potential. Friendly and welcoming to all, this small school has a diverse student body but keeps it's standards and expectations high. Really happy we found such a great place for our son.

Dreadful place. Run by a sycophant who hires many likeminded (poor) teachers. This program is not about quality. They don't have a development plan, they don't have an endowment, and they have a revolving door of staff. From the ticky-tacky stick-on letters tilting across their entrance, get a clue about the approach to quality level. Since it is a small school in an area of predominantly large, public programs, many kids come their way who have special needs for instructional support and a curriculum that is less challenging. Yet they pretend they are a standard private prep school. They don't even know their own population. Oh yes, they will enroll anybody as long as you can pay. Be forewarned.
