I have always been an honor roll student, and that continued at NHS, however I wouldn't say the staff played a big roll in this. A lot of the time I had to teach myself material, and even more often I would have to teach my peers the material. There have been countless days I come home stressed out about the amount of unnecessary homework I have accumulated, and the students themselves have some of the lowest school spirit I have ever seen in a high school. There is also a very very VERY limited selection of classes to choose from. There is no culinary, no wood shop etc... when it comes time to choose your electives you basically have to choose between ceramics, drama, and AP Calculus/Stats/Trig. The technology is outdated, and the campus is starting to get old, but they are starting to renovate and get new supplies. On top of this, there is a group for everybody to fit into, there has only been one physical fight in my four year experience at NHS, and the office staff are very helpful.

For most classes, the homework is busy work rather than reinforcing important concepts or topics we learn in class.

I see a significant amount of special needs students walking around every day, and everybody involves them in conversation. I have never seen a special ed student be bullied or harassed by students or teachers alike.

There isn't much bullying to deal with in general. A few girls get into little arguments but what's new. Counselors and psychiatrists are readily available to any student that wants them.

My youngest daughter really enjoys attending NHS. Her attendance is AMAZING here after being a truant student in Los Angeles School District! My middle daughter Graduated from NHS in 2007. She really was always focused @ NHS and her talents supported! She won a Performing Arts Scholarship from NHS & went off to be a MLS & NBA Professional Dancer. She is a present Choreographer for NHS dance team! I hope my youngest graduates from NHS. The nurse Michelle is truly wonderful.
