My son is autistic. Gardena high doesn't keep their special education students safe. MY son and other students have check out of that school. They lie and try to make your child feel.like they are the problem. He can't help being autistic.

This review is long overdue. My daughter graduated from Gardena High School in 2007, back then the school was great, she had an amazing 4 year run. Not sure how it is now, as I have no school age children :) After graduating my daughter went on to Tuskegee University, got her BSN at age 20, continued her studies and received her Masters Degree. She is a ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner), AIRBNB Owner, Private School Owner and Real Estate owner. Gardena High was definitely part of her success and journey. She met so many friends at Gardena and to this day they are still very close professional friends. Kudos to Gardena High :)

My child has been there for almost 2 years and the school has been ok but there has been a few concerns as to some of the teachers. Other than that this far there has not been many issues.

My child has been at the school for two years prior to the school my child was at Charter schools. I have not had many issues with the teachers but there have been a few. In particular one that appeared to be unfair with grading, the class is a intro class and its treated as a college course. My child never struggled in classes until this particular class which was an elective not a core class. I had such a hard time, I spoke to the teacher personally, school staff/admin and there was no assistance. It appeared to be more of a personal issue with the child vs. academic. I am currently looking into filing a complaint due to no fair resolution to my concern as to this teacher. Basic intro classes should not be treated as college courses for these students. Were preparing our students for higher education but to a certain extinct.

This school is awesome I'm a senior this year now. I will be graduating in 2014. Everyone should now that its a great school to be in. The parts I like about this school is that the teachers are nice and cool. This school improved a lot because of the new principal. He always look out for everybody their.

People may say negative things about this school, but honestly it's a really good school. The problem isn't the teachers, it's the students, how can a teacher get a student to do their work if the child doesn't want to succeed. I attended Gardena it is a very fun school and gets students involved with a lot of programs, no one gets discriminated. I love this school the teachers are great, but every school of course has a small percentage of lacking teachers. If you send your child to this school make sure you have your child check in to the right programs to prepare them for college as in AP classes, AVID, and many clubs they have in the school that makes students stand out.

If you're serious about getting your child prepared for college, do not send them to Gardena. It does not provide a social or academic environment that prepares students for higher education. I taught at Gardena & over the two years, I realized that many of the teachers there should have left the classroom 10 years ago. They stay because they cannot get hired elsewhere and have tenure. Good teachers at GHS DO NOT have the support they need to be successful. My first year teaching there, the principal and vice principal stepped into my room and 'observed' me for a combined three times. My second year of teaching I had a vice principal come in once the entire year and it wasn't even to observe me. I could have been throwing a party everyday in that classroom and no one would have known. Try a charter school instead.

What do I need to say about my high school Gardena H.S. So much is going on right now it very difficult to begin.First our API dropped about 25 points.Second our school is a breeding ground for ethnic tensions.Third our principal was removed, who is this new principal - never leaves his office- what a joke. This is my last year I barely made it to college but I did luckily, thanks mom.
