I am absolutely FED up with this school. They are not equip to handle kids with disabilities. They are low in resources when you ask anything that your child needs, they push back ALL the time. They deny IEP meetings, speech, OT because they feel the child doesn't need it. But the child in question has autism and ADHD. They either are under funded or they are greedy and distribute the child's funding else where. They are rude do not answer emails, it is a huge mess. Avoid this school if you have kids with disabilities, they do not care about your child. They want to keep the children behind academically and keep pushing them to the next grade without the help they actually need. They claim they can only get a full time one on one aid / paraprofessional when the child has behavior issues. Guess what parents? this is a HUGE lie!!! DO YOUR RESEARCH!

My daughter is wrapping up her kindergarten year at Lomita, and I’ve been incredibly impressed with her experience. Her teacher, Mrs. Mendoza, strikes the perfect balance between challenging her students academically while still being warm and nurturing—something I really value at this early stage in education.

The school creates many opportunities for parents to get involved, both in learning activities and social events, which has helped us feel more connected to her school experience. Communication is also a strong point—they keep families well-informed through multiple platforms including Instagram, the school website, and ClassDojo.

If I had one small suggestion, it would be to see a bit more personal engagement from the principal, but overall, I’ve been very happy with our experience. I highly recommend Lomita and feel truly grateful to be part of such a supportive school community.

Fleming magnet program is awesome. I have put one child through it and he was ready for high school. The school is clean and safe. I have not had any issues with this school at all. My daughter now attends. She is not in the magnet program, but she really like her school. It's a very good school.

My daughter had previously attended a private school. We couldn't afford it any more and imagined that a magnet school would be the next big thing. Good to know that I was right. The whole campus is a magnet school which is great! It's like a private school without the high cost. Great and friendly staff, from the office to the teachers. Very strong PTA that helps the school financially. My family feels very lucky to have the opportunity to have our daughter attend this school.

I just pulled my daughter out of this school. I must be fair and say my daughter was only there for a week. This was enough time, however, for me to ascertain that the classroom she was in would not provide her with the environment she would need to learn. This could an isolated problem, but I feel that her teacher should not be teaching small children. These concerns were confirmed when my wife heard similar stories from other parents about this "very experienced" teacher. They were very efficient at ushering my daughter out, though. I went to the office and signed the transfer papers without a single question as to why, or any concern that a student's parents were voluntarily removing her from their school. It was literally, "Fill this out." If I were a principal, I would want to personally speak with any parent who thought it in their child's best interest to leave my school. That speaks volumes to me about the philosophy of this school. The principal of her old school was so excited to have my daughter back. She is back in a school where the student is the focus, and where she has people around her who truly care about her. Don't let a school's title fool you.

My son was accepted into Lomita Magnet school in 1st grade. He's now in 5th grade and he loves going to Lomita. We live in Downtown Los Angeles and have an elementary school right across the street from us. We gave my son the choice of going to Lomita and getting up at 5:50am so he can make the bus by 6:30am to get to school on time or being able to sleep longer and going to the school across the street. He chose Lomita so that he could get a better education! We are pleased with the education that he get from Lomita! Thanks to Everyone who is involved with the children who attend Lomita.

Lomita Magnet is the BEST KEPT SECRET. Mrs. Du-Song is a fabulous (new) Principal who means what she says and says what she means. She is educated, compassionate, personable and aware of what it takes to gets the job done! Lomita Magnet is a well respected school by staff, students and parents. They have a strong PTA who implements wonderful fund raisers along with educational and extracurricular projects to develop the whole child; they are dedicated to the staff and students. My three children had a very good educational experience at Lomita Magnet. I saw excellent teachers, a supportive administration, and a uniform discipline policy designed to teach children self-control. Parental involvement was requested and valued. When our children were in middle school we moved to the Midwest, to a town where the schools were rated as excellent. None of our kids had any trouble at all keeping up and were ahead in many areas. They've all gone on to graduate from college, two have gone on to grad school, and the third found a job in her field immediately out of college. Lomita Magnet provided both a good education and a wealth of positive interaction with all sorts of people and ideas.
