There is bullying at every school, but as parents are job is to communicate with our children and teachers. My son was bullied and I did something about it! I talked to the teacher and my son. Mainly during recess the incidents, but parents responsibility to keep up with the social emotional feelings of their children. Yes the teachers need to challenge kids more they have the potential. I don't believe its just a low income school. Because I live in the neighborhood and see many contractors. Many have kids in these school. I believe that many people are just racial profiling. Because many of us parents went to the local Jr. High and High School and we went to college! So I strongly disagree with people saying that its ruled by gangs! We make the community, we the mothers of these children. Many of us are educated, and teachers are in communication daily through class Dojo and email.

My son constantly being bullied. Hes half white and half Hispanic. I feel like he gets bullied because he looks white I had kids come up to him and choke him and a bully at his school that has hit him multiple times and no one does anything about it. I complained multiple times but this kid never gets suspended or expelled no type of punishment. My son try’s to tell the teacher and the teacher tells him put his hand down. My son is terrified to even come to school. He’s missed multiple days cause I feel like I’m sending my son off in a unsafe environment! My son struggles with reading and spelling and the school has not offered any type of help in his school work.

I hate it. This school only speaks spanish to you and when you say you dont understand, they ignore you and walk away. I feel this school only assist low income non-english speaking families.

Posted: March 8, 2018

Teacher never checks homework. Doesn't assist the students with growth.

Posted: March 8, 2018

My son is in GATE and is not learning anything! His class is behind due to non- GATE students in the class.

Posted: March 8, 2018

Daily the students run and ignore the teachers telling them to stop. I witness 4 students wearing Pondarosa shirts in front of the school yelling and cursing every five seconds. All the supervisors did was act like they did not hear anything.

Posted: March 8, 2018

What leadership? The young supervisors run this place and do nothing when the kids act up.

Posted: March 8, 2018

My son needs assistance with creative writing. They sent him to a class where they talked for an hour on how to use capitals.

Posted: March 8, 2018

Nope. They pretend that this school is perfect. It is not, it is very dangerous!

Posted: February 27, 2018

The teachers hand out homework and then only check for completion. If the homework is incorrect and the student needs help understanding the subject no one will ever know if the child doesn't even know if they have a wrong answer or do not understand the question.

Some of the teachers are great and really seem to care, however a few have a very whatever attitude. I spoke to a teacher today that kept said "I think this program might be good but I don't know anything about it so you can try it or whatever".

The leadership has been there for several years and the school is still a 1 rating. Obviously they dont know what they are doing. A lot of money has been dumped into the school and it is fairly new. Less than a decade, I think. It was built with all the bells and whistles but still a 1 rating.

The only difference the schools supports are Mexicans who need English learning. Which is 95% of the school so really it's supporting it's base. Who cares about the rest of the students. They call themselves a dual language learning academy but none of the non native Spanish speakers are allowed to learn English through this program or Spanish or any other language for that matter.

Posted: February 27, 2018

The play ground supervisors stand around on their phones while the kids play and get bullied.

Posted: February 27, 2018

Horrible. My son is in a GATE class that is half non GATE students to fill the classroom. He is often not challenged.

This school is great. They frequently do special things for the students. The students are great and the teachers are great. What more can you expect in the city of kindness.

Like all teachers for 6th grade they are committed to teach and prepare kid for Jr. High my daughter use to attend other district school and now she is in Jr. with a 3.5 GPE l

Administration is there to collect a paycheck and not to ensure kids are being educated in a safe environment. Kids are bullied and assaulted with no assistance from staff. This school is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Entire neighborhood is controlled by the 'Anaheim Boys from the Hood Gang,' and neighborhood is a essentially a ghetto. My son was at Ponderosa for nearly three months. Despite being placed in Track B for GATE students, his teacher was teaching 2nd to 3rd grade math in a combined 3rd/4th grade class. She never even looked at his homework, but piled all students' homework on tables where it sat, and sat, and sat. Pathetically overcrowded, Ponderosa is a mega-factory style day care center, and, sadly, little, if anything, more than that. My son said that he was bullied daily in the cafeteria, with students telling him, "No Whites allowed in this line," despite the fact that he is of mixed ethnic heritage. The whole district is a dismal failure, and should be avoided by any parent concerned for her/his child's education.
