How do they expect respect from students when they don't set the example. They show no respect. In one instance the Attendance Clerk threw away one of the students lunch because he order outside. What kind of respect is that. Throwing out food that cost money and dumping it in the trash when there's others starving.

They can never keep a students data confidential instead they share the information to others so everyone in school knows what's going on. Therefore, student suffering bullying from the other students.

Horrible school. I should say 80% of the students dislike their school administrators. Principal and 11th Grade AP pretending to be parents by disciplining students for activities that happened outside school campus. They should be more worrying about what is going inside campus and allowed the students to have a private life. They should mind their own business.

I can say that some, but not all teachers care about the students.

The Vice Principle allows Bullying! There is absolutely "No Accountability" for the Bully's!

Read a review! It was from a student! They spelt it Hear Not Here!

Horrible having to have someone I Love Terrorized going to school! The Principle & Vice Principle should be Fired! Taking the Bullying to Media also APD & ICE!

The very few good teachers are the Ap teachers and occasionally the honors teachers. Those teachers are the ones that actually try to teach and actually care. There are some unreasonably strict teachers too.

The thing I asked is do those things even exist at this school? No it does not. A strong example would be the lunch line system. It brings out human greed as many students cut you before getting restricted because the main lunch line ends up in a little corner where food is picked up. Could they not have spent any of that construction money to modify the cafeteria so that it is more efficient? My former school had multiple places or stands in the cafeteria rather than one little corner to get food. This of course is just one example of the lack of "character" at this school. Of course there is also cheating even in honors and ap classes.

No it does not. Most teachers would probably think of it as a joke that you are being bullied. Being of the asian minority that is in this school there is much bullying. If you are a nationality that isn't hispanic be aware that comments will be made behind your back and people will make fun of you for how you look. The teachers won't do anything because they probably don't want to be bothered.

Im a sophomore here at this school and it is horrible. I originally transferred from a better high school that I attended freshman year. The principal I think tries to mean well but acts rowdy at times. Most of the students are students who couldn't care less and most likely won't attend college.

Some teachers allow us to have time to do our homework in class the day of within a limited time period. Although it is to the students advantage it is sad that they expect this and this will in no way help for college.

I'm not sure who left the other reviews for the school, but it is clearly a two-star site at best. The teaching quality is often mediocre depending on the department, often digressing into babysitting, worksheets are considered real "work," the budget never seems to match need, and the campus is a dump. It is sad to juxtapose this campus with others in the AUHSD. There is clearly some neglect from the district itself, and a lack of oversight. Katella averages a new principal every two years, but its AP's are never switched out. Student and parental involvement are extremely low. It is a miracle any of its (socially-promoted) "graduates" can survive in college, but most don't go anyway, so it's hard to tell what becomes of all these former Knights.

Katella has roughly ten or so great teachers. A few others are good. The rest are either mediocre and inconsistent, or just plain bad. Katella is one of those schools you should not use to defend teacher tenure. About fifteen to twenty of them need to go for various reasons that adversely affect their teaching. Some are vicious and mean to students, while others merely sit there and collect a paycheck and watch their STRS account get bigger and bigger.

Most teachers at the school do not even give homework. Some even defend this decision. I would think the only defense would be the fact that Katella students simply do not do homework.

There is really no adherence to any ESLR's or credo at Katella. Students consider its standards to be a joke. Then again, there is little done to actually implement ESLR's on all levels. Some teachers will really push something, while others poo-poo it, openly, in front of students. Cheating is rampant, late work is the norm, and certain staff who are clearly not "fair" have worked there for decades while they should have been let go for bullying their students.

It is my opinion that this school has even become more chaotic. Mr. Carpenter has the audacity to post fliers on campus to purchase his book "keeping it simple". In theory of his goal of the "Almighty dollar" rather than focus on conducting himself professionally. I have three children who were attending this school and thank God I placed them at Fullerton High, a more caring concerned group of people rather than this disenchanted Principal who is more concerned about the politics of his losing the opportunity to be school superintendent to a extremely and well rounded person. I encourage Mr. Carpenter to apply himself to his career of book writing his theories rather than complete destruction of the school.
