my experience at dos pueblos senior high school was amazing I had a lot of fun and I made a lot of friends there and I also graduated from dos pueblos senior high school 29 years ago and I have so many memories that would last me a life time

I was bullied and treated bad by students and school staff until my senior year where I got somewhat of a break from bullying, but I still got a little from a few students and the teacher in my computer class. Being mentally ill and not taking care of myself made it much worse. Some of the worst years of my life. I barely remember anything they taught at this school. I almost failed two classes in my last year cuz of the anxiety and depression and other mental problems I got from bullying. I know I was far from a model student but I wasn't a terrible one either.

This school isn't year around. It goes from the very end of August until either the last week of May or the first couple of days of June. The average class size is closer to 35-45 students, not 25. There are more Hispanic's than it claims here. There's no dress code. When I attended, girls would literally walk around in boxers and a bra with a jacket not zipped up. Boys would walk around in speedos only. Not every student but enough that you could'nt avoid it. That being said, I generally enjoyed going to school here. Some teachers were amazing, some I wondered why they were allowed to teach. The average classes are like most public schools, they move at the pace of the slower students. However, they would not allow students to silently read after completing all of their work in class. You were told to sit there, stare at your desk or a wall. The AP/IB classes were mainly for white kids and they functioned much better. The honors/Gate classes were exactly the same as the average classes but with extra busy work. Overall, I enjoyed the 3 years I physically attended and appreciated my counselor fighting for me to attend SBCC my senior year and still receive credit at Dos Pueblos.

This school provides the best academics and most adequately prepares the students for post-high school education. When you earn an "A" in an honors or AP class at DP, you have earned it. That cannot be said for other local high schools that will give a student an "A" in a class simply if they get a 4 or 5 on the AP test or score above a certain level on the standardized testing.

It's all right, I guess. Socially, it's great- everyone fits in with one group or another, whether you like sports, math, or video games. However, the teachers are widely variable in quality, even at the honors and ap level. There are definitely classes that I don't think I learn anything from, or at least not even close to enough to justify the time spent. Overall, it may be the best public school in Goleta and Santa Barbara, but that doesn't mean it's that great.

Dos Pueblos is not the best school in Santa Barbara if you judge from the ethnicity ratios! Quality of teaching relates to how you make the minority progress. DP is ranking 4/10 compare to similar schools in the state. Not a good score. Most of students there are not well rounded, just very competitive and elitist. My daughter stayed three weeks at DP last year and then transferred to San Marcos where she finally found a great balance between student life and academics.

For such a diverse area, Dos Pueblos is mono-cultural and despite a couple high profile programs, the average student is ill served. Parents are somewhat pompous and it clearly wears off on their kids.
