Unfair bias. The school doesn’t seek the safety of the victim instead put the blame of the victim.
They won’t do anything to protect their students and said that literal threats sent to a minor was “not their business”
They say “I hate [insert slur] is worse than getting sent literal death threats by a student or students.
The threats that were sent to me were by a STUDENT at this specific school.

They never listen to the other side clearly and do NOT acknowledge medical and mental conditions (I have SPED)
They don’t listen but rather judge unfairly.

Horrible experience, the principle was not understanding, didn’t know how to communicate and purposely ignored mine and my child’s request to move classrooms due to teacher to student harassment and bullying.

O'farrell school is a great school, what I like the most is that teachers are dedicated to learning the student, and they do not have saturated classes, which means that teachers can pay attention to each of their students, both in primary, secondary, and high school, and above all they prepare them very well for the university.

1) the classes are 2 hours long, most of the time you sit there doing absolutely nothing. Feels dreadful, you can feel every second passing by
2) teachers use scare tactics, like “ if you dont turn this in you wont graduate highschool”
3) school is really really small, once passing period hits you begin to be squished by your peers.
4) school only cares about its reputation

This school is wack. Their lottery system is absolutely ridiculous. Instead of giving priority to the students in the community, it’s a free for all. Your chances of getting into O’Farrell are pure luck as they take applications from all over San Diego County. Also, be aware that this is a K thru 12 school so it is huge, almost 2,000 students. Your kid just gets lost in this concrete jungle.

I'm presently a 12th grader at this school. I didn't really enjoy the charter school experience. Our High School only has about 120 seniors. That's a tiny graduating class!! I feel like I missed out on a regular High School life. A lot of my friends who went to other high schools had options and I feel were better prepared for college. Most high schools offer between 20 to 37 AP classes. Here at O'Farrell they only offer 8 AP classes but more like 7. Those Advanced Placement classes count a lot for college and I wish I would have had more of a selection. Colleges dont care about AVID. A larger high school with more options for high school would have been better.

Homework was not a big deal when I was there; I always had free time to fool around and was never pressured to study/continue working at home.

Posted: July 21, 2019

I had “AP” teachers who would show us youtube videos and call that teaching. My precalculus teacher did not teach and I was extremely unprepared for calculus. The only teachers that taught effectively were my science ones.

I was bullied and my teachers, counselors, and any adult who I told did nothing about my problems. They ignored it until it spiraled out of control, but by that time I was getting myself into trouble and no one cared.

Posted: July 21, 2019

It was awful, I spent 5 years here and only learned to be defensive. Left and I was at the top of my class; in no way was I encouraged to grow and my mood was always low.

O'Farrell is very college driven. My student appreciates the diversity and programs available. There may be no counselors listed under the school facts, however, the school has FSS that is a support to all members of the family.

This school is absolutely amazing, the teachers are very involved with the students and it's a rigorous school. I am a student myself and I have to say the teachers there are absolutely amazing meaning: ms. Hui, Ms. Laterzza, mr. Lapis, and plenty more. A great school for education.

My daughter has been at this school since the 6th grade and just finished 8th grade this month. She loves this school. She could have stayed at a closer school near home but made the choice to come here. This charter school provides the kids with more opportunity. They have uniforms which is great because kids do not focus on vanity and whats in and not in. They have many field trips and provide kids with a lot of resources to excel. The teachers here CARE for all students. This school is becoming a k-12th school and is awesome because they really do focus making our kids grow and learn in positive manners. Best school in SOUTHEAST SAN DIEGO!!!

I love this school and glad I followed my gut feeling by sending my daughter here for 6th grade instead of her neighborhood school. She has maintained a 3.8gpa and above since she started in fall 2013. I have no complaints whatsoever. I also like that they are strict with the kids and because of that, its become a safer campus.

It is a great school for middle or high school. They are building a new high school so you can get the full experience and the teachers are great they understand their kids and teach in a way everyone gets. They staff is very nice and make sure that everyone is happy and having fun. You can make friends fast and not worry about bullies or mean people. I'm a student self I have been here since 6th grade and it has been an amazing experiancre and I am now going to the tenth grade and can't wait. If your looking for a safe, fun, all out pre, elementary, middle, or high school O'Farrell is the place to go.

My daughter LOVES this school and I really appreciate the time and effort the teachers and staff are putting into making it such a success. Definitely the BEST school in the South East San Diego area.

Posted: August 6, 2013

My school is amazing I don't know what I would do without it. Everyone here is like family basically. When you step on this school campus you feel welcomed and the teaching is excellent I could not ask for a better learning education.

If you want your child to attend a secure, safe, and academically challenging school, register at The O'Farrell Charter School.

O'Farrell is the best middle school in the area by far! I choose to send my 7th grader to O'Farrell because they are focused on academics and discipline. My daughter loves her teachers and says the environment is fun but serious. If you want your child to be held to high standards and receive a good education, send them to O'Farrell.

I love this school!! Not only is this the only middle school in this school district and county whose API scores are in the 800s, but the staff are extraordinary! I have a 6th and 4th grader who both attend O'Farrell Charter school and I am impressed by the manner in which this school operates (academically for the students). My children are being challenged academically and mentally and I really enjoy the opportunities that this school has presented for my children.
