Muy buena escuela, con maestros comprometidos y un ambiente excelente para los estudiantes. Estamos muy satisfechos con la educación y el apoyo que recibe nuestra hija.

As a parent I am deeply concerned with what has come to light at Sunset Elementary The school was found to have a Type A violation which is the most serious kind meaning it posed an immediate health and safety risk to students This is not a minor issue Type A violations are issued when a child’s health safety or personal rights are in direct danger

What makes this worse is that the district covered this up for eight months without telling families The violation came from an incident so serious that law enforcement and forensic evidence were involved A child deserves to be safe at school and families deserve transparency right away not delayed communication that leaves us wondering if there were other victims or risks

The district has tried to frame this under their “safe campus” policy but keeping parents out of schools while failing to keep children safe inside is unacceptable Parents are the first line of defense for their kids and when schools minimize or cover up violations of this magnitude they break our trust

Sunset Elementary and the district must do better We expect immediate transparency accountability for those who failed to notify families and real changes to policies so that something like this never happens again Our children’s safety should never come second to protecting reputations

The staff and teachers don’t even now who the parents are they are unorganized underfunded and not ethical when it comes with dealing with the community.

"I really like this school. It's because the teachers are nice, and they have a special program called Sunset Bucks. They are little paper bills that you can use to buy toys and stuff from the store. But you can only use it in the school. They also do cool assemblies, once they did a laser show," my daughter says to me.

I personally don't like the principal or Mr Romero, they don't do anything and one of the super visors, Marian, is really mean to the kids and yells at them in front of the parents. The parents don't complain because the principal doesn't do anything about it. Also, there are these women that are supposed to take care of the children when they cross the street, Nina and Rosalva, all they do is talk and gossip while the students are crossing the street with no supervision. I do agree, though, they have good teachers, except for this second grade teacher, Miss Casillas, the worst teacher I've ever met. My son didn't learn a thing from her, and it wasn't just him, other parents had the same complaint.

This school is good but it was better the past 5 years. The new principle does not do as much as mr. romero. The students really miss mr. romero. The San ysidro schools district should bring mr. romero back. Teachers that are great are Guanco, Sandez, Murffy and Hernandez. My son loves the Gate classes and Math 24 classes.

I absolutely love this school. My two children have been there for three years. The oldest one was at another school in San Ysidro and had problems. The teachers are great at Sunset. The principal is Great, he knows the kids and helps them out as much as he can. The kids are welbehaved. I think this school is the best in the community.

This school is the best in the area. We love the teachers and they way the treat the students. There academics are strong and there are many activities to keep the kids busy and out of trouble. I'm happy to be part of the school community.
