I was a new teacher at this school (not new to my profession) in 2026. The current administration is new , inexperienced, clichy, and unprofessional. Principal Holman is sweet as pie to your face but, will throw you under a bus as soon as your back is turned. She does not support teachers who are not in her circle.
The overall vibe here is cold and unwelcoming.
Staff is unfriendly to newcomers and quick to pass judgement.
Students are permitted to bring toys to school and disrespect teachers because the principal is too afraid to stand up to parents ( the ones who do not discipline their own kids).
Aesthetically, the campus is clean and very pretty.
Parents are part of the community.
Too many students are rude, ill mannered, and entitled.
The P.E. program is great.

The principal at this school has made the lives of many kids and their families a nightmare. Megen Guffey is extremely rigid and focused on the importance of her role and not on supporting the needs of the kids, especially those with special needs, accommodations, or differences. Inflexible and harsh, we found it almost impossible to have a conversation with her about the challenges our child was having in the second year at this school. She kept circling back to the school policy, rules, official procedure, and seemed unable to think creatively about how we might offer additional help for our child while keeping them in school. We know PR is a conservative district, but we still expected at least the principal to be supportive of all differences in a child. While the teachers have been great, the principal even seemed to exhibit bias and prejudice toward a child with gender identity differences in the way she spoke. While discussing our experience with other parents, we heard several similar stories. I hope she is removed from her position and not permitted to work with children any more.

Hands down best school I've been to yet. The teachers cared and made sure their students were meeting expectations, their students were at, and the staff was very friendly and I'm sure every child who was behind eventually thrived thanks to PB. Pat Butler also had really good school food and I loved the computer lab we would go to. Best school I went to was here. I highly recommend this school to ANYONE with a child with low marks.

This school is definitely the best school that learns differences with students, there is a disabled child learning center and there is also a Reading Intervention. My daughter is in the Reading Intervention due to the fact of her lack of ability to read. She does not finish her homework 49% of the time. But the kids who have disabilities go to a a learning center.

We have been at Pat Butler for 5 years now, it is an excellent school. They have a strong curriculum and dedicated teachers and administrators. The school teaches good behavior to its students and reinforces strong character principles every day. We were sad to see Mrs. Halic leave as principal but Mr. Capalare is doing an outstanding job, the kids love him. Thank you Pat Butler!

Paso schools have a good program for teaching kids about bullying and, as far as I can tell so far, deal with any bullying issues immediately.

We were new to this school last year and the leadership is amazing!!! They truly cared about our childrens adjustment on all levels: personal, emotional and academics. We have phenomenal Teachers this year and feel so fortunate. I love the sense of family and community at the school.

We have found the teachers and admin staff at this school to be dedicated and knowledgeable. There is an incredible level of parental involvement at the school as well, from a solid PTA to a lot of volunteering in the classroom. We also like the afterschool program, PRYDE, being on the campus.

Butler USED to be Paso's top elem school...no longer. Principal for past 5 yrs is a mean, bossy, inconsistent tyrant. And no, I'm not exaggerating! Ask any teacher or parent and they'd LOVE to get a new principal on that small campus!! Overall, morale and school spirit are down. Staff & teachers seem bummed and that trickles down into the classroom. We've had multiple kids there & loved every teacher but it's like there's a dark cloud over that school. No longer a neighborhood school since kids from all over Paso are bussed in. Butler's lost its community school feeling and is even a program improvement school which isn't good news for parents. Again, we had great, hard-working teachers who really CARED about our kids. Front office clerk always calls you "dear" and "sweetie"; she's an angel. And Kinder teacher Mrs. W is amazing (as a previoius reviewer said) . But Butler's principal H would be better suited as a prison warden, not an elem school principal. Oh--and the review from '09 that says no bullies at Butler...well, that's outdated!! The problem is that there ARE bullies (like at any school) but the principal doesnt do anything!
