Front office staff are consistently rude, confrontational, bias and unapproachable. Simple inquiries are met with dismissive attitudes, and any attempt to seek help or clarification feel like an unwelcome intrusion. Rather than fostering a welcoming environment for students and families the front office seems to operate with hostility and impatience. It’s disheartening to walk into a school expecting support and instead we met with cold stairs and curt responses. Communication is strained at best and there’s a noticeable lack of professionalism and how concerns are handled. Very discouraging.

My daughter started the 24-25 school year excited about the new school and so it potentially had to offer. Only 2 months in and I have opted to move my child back to her home school. Bullard Talent students are rude and mean and it seems like it starts from the top and is a culture that is tolerated. I had read through reviews that there was a lot of bullying and thought maybe the reviews were outdated, sadly years later this is still the atmosphere at Bullard Talent.

There’s some pressure to participate and attend everything because the school is so busy with events, but I’ve made wonderful friends with other engaged parents so it’s been well worth it! The music program is excellent and the middle school show choir and play production outstrips most high schools. Can’t beat a K-8 program. We love it! Been there 12 years with 8 years to go!

School is toxic, there’s drama everywhere from the office staff to the teachers that are entitled to the music/art teachers. Maybe that’s why there’s no principal that can stay. The ones that suffer are the students. You can tell miles away they are there to feed out of gossip and drama and privileged. Only the kids of their friends get into the plays, sports, etc. Even the assistants are bringing gossip about parents and students situation. There’s no privacy. Is just a bad gossip little town. They don’t deserve the budget they get. They need to use that budget to train all
Staff.

I'm not sure what went wrong or what happened. Originally, I was excited for my child to win the school lottery, however, that is not the case. There is a great deal of bullying/fighting that school administration are aware of and say they have a zero tolerance policy. The response is to sweep under the rug to not draw negative attention to their school. But my child has been bullied and threatened. I have zero trust in the new principle due her lack of cultural awareness and empathy towards people of color. There is a strong culture of white privilege amongst the none ethic teachers and students. I do not recommend this school unfortunately. There just is no support for people of color. It's a Fresno school with Clovis district problems. There are some excellent teachers still there who care about the kids, but they are few and far between.

To much drama, bullying, and entitled teachers and discriminatory staff.

School culture can be toxic in the sense of there are too many unrealistic expectations. These are CHILDREN, not college students as stated before.

Posted: September 27, 2020

It was always about homework, homework, homework and testing, testing, testing. As a result, children literally had no time for other activities that did not involve school. They are CHILDREN, not college students. Even college students can't sit down for 3+ hours everyday just cramming their heads in books. Too much homework leads to stress, not effective learning. Oftentimes the expectations were just unbelievably unrealistic.

Many of the teachers came off as arrogant and condescending as so many parents want their children to attend BT, so if one child leaves, it doesn't matter as another one will fill the spot easily. If children did not score high enough on certain tests, they weren't really worth some teachers' time.

Administration takes care of business when needed.

Posted: September 27, 2020

If a student was not able to pick up on subjects efficiently as his/her peers, they can fall behind, but that did not seem to matter to a few teachers.

Posted: September 27, 2020

If a child had a problem with a bully, it was taken care of by the administration.

I feel that they give just the right amount of homework to have my child practice what they learned at school at home.

Posted: March 4, 2020

I know that my child's teacher is teaching my child effectively. My child can come home and reiterate what she has learned in class. She enjoys playing with me where she is her teacher and I'm the student. Also, I know my child is being taught social and emotional skills that are important to her development. She will talk about strategies for calming down and having perseverance. I'm so proud to be part of the Bullard Talent family.

This is more a problem with Fresno Unified in general, not just this school.

Posted: October 9, 2017

When there was a problem with a particular student, the teacher was well aware and working with those parents to fix the problem.

BT is a great school, but to get the most out of any school parents must be involved, BT even more so. The high API scores this school achieves are a result of motivated students AND parents. The arts programs take a lot of effort and money, but the school does not get additional funding or staffing from the district, so expect to volunteer and participate in fundraisers. If this is not for you or your child is not interested in the performing arts, then leave a spot open for someone who is and don't apply.

We moved to Fresno after attending Clovis Unified. I was concerned the level of education would not compare, however Bullard TALENT is really good. I appreciate the focus on performing arts over sports for my children (CUSD focuses heavily on sports) and the academics are comparable to our previous district. TALENT is organized and has a great parental support system & encourages parent involvement as their standards are high. Students have a sense of pride as does the staff. Try visiting an open house, choir, band or dance concert. You'll see professionalism that gives children the tools to succeed well beyond K-8. I feel confident watching my son grow here and hope my daughter may be selected as well. Honestly, I wouldn't want my children to attend elsewhere.

Bullard Talent is a wonderful school! This is our fourth year at Bullard Talent and my kids love going to school everyday! They have strong academics and wonderful teachers. My kids really enjoy the arts program at the school which includes theater arts, dance, music, choir and much more. Not all kids are into sports. But if your kids are into sports that have that too. It's just a great school all around! We couldn't be happier!

Great School! Lets children expand their Artistic Abilities . Not all children are goind to be professional athletes.

My girls have been at BT for 9 years, and for the most part we have loved the school. There were times we felt certain kids got preferential treatment, or that the teachers were preaching their own agenda/beliefs but failed to let the students express theirs. All in all, BT is a very good school. I love the fact that it is a K-8th grade school as middle schools in Fresno are hideous. It allows kids to stay in one place for a long time, really enhancing the performing arts aspect of the school. This is a school that does A LOT of fund raising, so if that's not your bag, walk on. It is a lottery draw school as well, so it isn't always easy to get your kids here. Overall, BT does an excellent job with the performing arts aspect of the school, and does pretty well with the academics too. Some teachers are GREAT; Giometti, LInscheid, Luck, Semrick, Koontz, Tacchino. Some teachers are ANNOYING; Lipari, Dunn.

Terrible experience for my child. Bullying, multiple unaddressed discipline issues, chaos in the classroom. This website says 26 students per teacher? Try 30. This school does have good programs going for it- but those don't make up for the overcrowding, chaos and general disrespect of many students.

We have had a terrible experience at this school. Our child is miserable. He has been beat up on campus, yelled at by teachers and, overall, he has been encouraged to strive for mediocrity because this means the teachers will be required to put in as little effort as possible. We are now faced with the choice of moving him back to his home school (which will be a disruption) or keeping him here and trying to deal with it through meetings with the principal, etc. We would not recommend this school to anyone.
