Northpoint School And Intensive Outpatient

So far there has been no homework as long as the kids finish work at school. This gives our whole family a lot less pressure. I do hope that it still prepares our son for college.

This school has been a lifesaver for our family and is exactly what my son has needed.

The teachers and aides here are some of the most determined I had ever met, some stayed on even when I went to say goodbye in 1997 when Julie and Jim were still working as a teacher and a PE instructor, many, many years after I left in spring of 1990.

often the workload was weaker and we had summer school, which had lots more pooltime and PE activities. so the idea is that if you are LD, you can spread out your schoolwork over the year...but sadly we all hated it as fun as the staff tried to make it....

It's different teaching values to children with special needs, it requires more attention and much more interaction. This school offers that, staff are much more trained to deal with special needs youth as the issues can vary from child to child.

Well I was a stoke victim at birth and had tons of behavioral problems. I went to Northpoint back between 1984 and 1990, I grew up there. There's only so much people can do to make better a bad situation, but I feel that the staff did their best, and life did the rest....

I lacked the social development of a normal school, only so much they could do with 60 or so kids in the same boat...or worse...than me, which really set me back in life but you have to think, how much would I have functioned in a normal school, not very well.

Like most students, I didn't understand this implication, kept seeing this place as a prison, when in fact it may have been the only place I could have grown up and had any chance with my special needs and my eating disorder.

I sorrow everyday that I was one who couldn't go to a normal school, that's hard for most to imagine.... but without schools like this, a boy like me wouldn't have ever..... These types of schools are so important to give people like me a chance....
