The administration seems more focused on enforcing pointless rules than actually supporting students. Teachers are hit or miss—some genuinely care, but many just seem burned out or uninterested. Communication is terrible, especially when it comes to grades or important updates. The mental health resources are basically non-existent, and the school culture overall feels toxic and cliquey. If you're expecting support, creativity, or growth here, lower your expectations. A lot needs to change. Unfortunately, my experience with Principal Jeff McMurry was disappointing. From the start, their attitude came across as arrogant and dismissive. Rather than fostering a welcoming and respectful environment, he often speaks in a condescending tone, making both students and parents feel unheard and undervalued. A principal should lead by example—showing respect, humility, and care for the school community—but that was not what I witnessed at Longmont High School.

We have been really happy with LHS. It is a school where pride and school spirit run deep. Teachers and staff are very professional and really seem to care about the students as human beings.

"It is what you make it"Life is what you make of it". Much is the same for Longmont High School.

If you don't participate in out of school events, join the wrong crowd, or slack on academics then you won't like LHS. However, if you participate in sports, music, or student government you'll be accompanied by some of the best teachers and coaches in the state. These coaches care deeply for their students. I see other comments that imply inappropriate teacher relations with students, but I have not seen that to be true. The staff genuinely care for the kids.

The programs at this school are outstanding. The sport programs are very strong and produce great athletes with real life skills. The music programs (very broad I know) are all strong. Most notably, the drum line that is literally GOATED. Drama program was good.

There are AP classes that were honestly much harder than many of my college classes. However, a lot of general ed classes are low tier and have a lot of distractions.

This is a good place to learn and prepare fo life. Students have the opportunities they need to succeed.

Longmont is an excellent school where the majority of the teachers are very supportive and compassionate. The school has great diversity and a culture of kindness. There are opportunities for AP classes & medical career classes for students that are interested. All of the staff from Administration, safety team, office, counseling, athletics etc…seem to care about students.

My son and I are very disappointed with this school. Took him out In the middle of the school year. Cannot believe the lack of professionalism and compassion.

Teachers get too personal with students and would get involved with them outside of school. Homework load varies depending on class. Special needs kids are separated from the rest of the students. Unusual punishment by administration. Cameras in hallways, classrooms and around premises, not necessarily bad but made my child feel uneasy. They pass students even if the student didn't deserve to pass onto the next grade.

Teachers get too close to students such as driving them to and from school and inviting them to their homes. Teachers would take students to lunch as well. This could be ok but in my case it was inappropriate.

I just graduated from this school. I've only been there for a year so I don't know what every teacher is like. I got lucky and got the gems of teaching though. The people who run the school are very kind. However, teachers do have favorites. If you have a coach as a teacher then expect to not be acknowledged if you aren't in that sport. But it's like that everywhere. Teachers pass athletes who truly don't deserve it. That's just life. The younger grades at this school are VERY bad kids. They are very disrespectful and I've witnessed girls stand on desks to flip their teachers off, vulgar language towards elders, drug use and more. That isn't my problem so I don't care, but if your young one is coming to this school, just be aware that they will be consumed into that. I can see how that kind of environment can change a kid for the worse. The people complaining about this school below really brought that on themselves because I've been to 5 high schools and I can say this is not a bad school. It's just the younger kids and lack of parenting that are bad. I feel like this school cared about giving us a send off that will prepare us for what college entails. I actually feel confident now. And I thank the teachers I had and the counselors for this.

I graduated from this school. I didn't choose this school. They simply just pass you! And the teachers get Personal with the students. They do not care about education in the least. I was in pre algebra for four years! Never went past that. They just kept me in the lowest math class over and over, not even caring that I never learned. I just had to take 4 years of math, they didn't care about preparing me for college. I passed and graduated with all D-'s. I didn't
even deserve those! I was never in class, never done the work and yet they just passed me so they wouldn't have to see me again. The principal banned me from having friends and teachers would drive students around or ask students to pick up food for them at fast food places. I never learned anything here. They set up cameras in the halls, not enough places to sit in the cafeteria because there were so many students. I was not prepared for college because i didn't earn my diploma. I had to basically take high school classes in college. And besides math I was in honors and college level English, history and science and yet I still wasn't prepared for college! So I wouldn't go here! The teachers get personal and unprofessional with students and they just pass the kids and I remember a teacher told us that the ACT/SAT tests didn't matter so I intentionally failed them because they Said it didn't matter!

I graduated from here and done none of the school work and ditched school and teachers still passed me as if they were in cahoots to get me out of the school! They do not care about the students, they didn't even care that I walked several miles to school in the winter! The principals are just terrible too.

Generally a good school. Teachers need to keep Infinite Campus up to date. We just had 4 weeks of grades in some subjects added 2 hours before the Thanksgiving break. To make corrective action possible where needed, we need to know where there are problems in a more timely manner.

Trojan Nation! This school is amazing at creating school pride with everything it does. Yes, it is a melting pot of diversity but that's not what defines this school. You will feel a sense of pride, of community and the culture makes you feel like you belong. My 10th grader tells me this is the best school he has been to over the years. He states there really isn't any bullying and overall the kids really enjoy class. The football coaches are by far the most influential leaders in the school and run a solid program.
