I have two students at this school and we have nothing but good things to say about the STEM curriculum and the staff at this school.

I have lived in Berthoud for over 20 years and have 4 kids - my oldest 2 went to Ivy and then my youngest 2 went to Berthoud El after we moved across town. I volunteered in each of the kids classrooms and was very impressed with both schools and would highly recommend them. They have great teachers and counselors who really care about the kids.

There are so many good things going here at Ivy Stockwell. First, we have to brag about the district. One of our children who qualified for an IEP (Individualized Education Program) due to being speech delayed. He started as a three year old and had two years of preschool at Turner Preschool in Berthoud. The staff at Turner Preschool is absolutely outstanding in every sense that you would want early childhood education to excel. In collaboration with Big Thompson School District they provided everything to help our speech delayed son improve over the two years he was there. Now on to Ivy Stockwell. We have two children currently enrolled in Ivy Stockwell and the experience so far has been amazing. We knew that Ivy Stockwell scored the best out of all of the schools in the Thompson School Disctrict, which is one of the reasons we moved to Berthoud. So far it has exceeded our expectations. Mrs. Clegren is our current Kindergarten teacher for our IEP boy and she is everything he needs. This is also 2020-2021 school year with COVID-19 and all of those difficulties. Despite all of those issues she has helped our son excel in his first year in elementary school. Every teacher we have had (Horner, Pfohl, Clegern & Kasprzyk) so far at Ivy has been great. Lastly, we had some issues with the things going on with remote learning during the fall of 2020. I made a call to the new principal (quite a year to move to a new school as principal) Anne Marie Sanchez. She took the call, listened to our concerns, and was very compassionate. Despite all of the difficulties thrown at this district, this school, and this staff they have made sure to keep the focus where it belongs, on the children. Anyone looking for a great community and school I would recommend looking at Berthoud and enrolling your children in Ivy Stockwell.

I would give this school a 5 out of 5 so far they are so easy to work with, friendly, they communicate well with parents and my children are excelling here after moving the middle of the year from CA.

No homework is better than too much! Children are in school all day; they need time for chores, hobbies, play, & rest. My kids' former school (a new charter in Loveland) assigned WAY too much homework. So we really appreciate schools that teach academic skills during school hours and just use homework for the habits homework hones best. Quick homework assignments give children practice keeping track of their own tasks & materials. (Younger kids may need the consistency of nightly homework routines; older kids can & should get used to variation.) And occasional long-term projects require kids to budget their own time. My child's class at Ivy had it just right. There was never busywork or drill; homework was minimal & valuable.

Everyone we've worked with was honest, open, qualified, conscientious, passionate, & reasonable. Each day in class, teachers give kids specific encouragement, reinforcing honorable habits. Every staff member (including the custodian!) models stellar character and watches for teachable moments. Standout success may earn a child a positive office referral, which the principal rewards with praise, a small prize, & a call home to the parents. (Referral forms are sent home later, too, so you can post them on the fridge and put them in the scrapbook!) The kudos are meaningful because they must be legitimately earned, but staff seems alert enough to catch even a struggling child being awesome at least once a year. Kids try hard when their good deeds & good attitudes are genuinely recognized and celebrated by both their mentors and their peers. But of course problems come up. When students need correction, discipline is handled fairly, constructively, and with common sense. Kids must pay the consequences, but they won't be shamed or shattered. They feel loved and understood, so while they feel bad for disappointing their heroes & friends, they know that restitution & repentance will bring redemption. The kids seem to internalize these lessons, naturally inspiring each other to be their best, yet forgiving each other when they mess up.

We had a great experience at Ivy! The building is nice. The playground is typical; all modern playgrounds are too safe & boring to appropriately challenge & interest school-aged children.

Absolutely hands down one of the best elementary schools I've been involved with. The teachers there actually care about each other and the community, and most importantly the students. They actually get along with each other and help each other to perform and teach the best they can. They make it fun for the kids to learn. My kids have both told me that they'd rather stay in school through the summer rather than have a summer vacation! Who says that?! Rick Bowles and the staff at Ivy Stockwell including the PTO members and even down to the maintenance crew (Trilby is awesome!) really, truly care about the kids there. I'm so proud to be part of this community and school, and wouldn't have my kids go anywhere else.

I don't believe this is just Ivy Stockwell, but most schools in general. Yes, we need to teach and learn our kids. Yes, we need to prepare them for the future. However, we need to find a way to be able to do this in the 8 hours that they have at school and allow them the time they need to decompress and develop outside of school socially, etc.

Ivy Stockwell is an amazing school with an incredible group of teachers and staff that really put their students first and work together to make sure your students leaves elementary with an incredible education.

Unfortunately, the homework given is not entirely the fault of Ivy's teachers as that is the new culture to continue giving more homework since they don't have time to fit everything into the school day with all of the new educational requirements. That is unless they start taking away music, PE, recess which is a definitely no.

An awesome school with a fantastic principal with great leaderships skills, high knowledge of education and a caring personality that wants the best for everyone. Teachers and staff are amazing and I really appreciate how much my children love school and love learning at Ivy!

The staff and teachers care about my child as an individual. In the last three years they have responded to all my concerns. My child is doing is doing well at Ivy.

One of the best schools my children have been to over the years. The teachers are fabulous! The new principal really cares about this school and he has already made a great impression on the students, parents and community.

We love Ivy - the teachers, staff and administrators truly care about every child. The testing scores are excellent, but what matters most is that my children love to learn, and love to go to school.
