The worst. They need to learn to properly deal with bullying. My child got the same time as the bully for suspension who went and messed with another kid after assaulting my child and was back the same day as my child no dealing with it.

This is the best group of teachers/colleagues I've ever had the pleasure and privilege of working with. And I've worked at 5 other schools. They are great at what they do and care SO much about the students and each other.

We do struggle with a select group of students (as any middle school does), but when parent support is given and follow through is implemented at home and at school, it's easily resolved!

We have programs for students of all walks of life, from struggling readers (Read 180 and System 44) to gifted and talented (we have a very strong GT program), sports enthusiasts and hands-on learners. It's a school for everyone!

We are implementing a world-wide anti-bullying program called Olweus that will drastically change our school culture for the better. We are so happy to been awarded this grant, and we look forward to all the wonderful changes it will bring!

Everyone knows that middle school years are challenging as kids go through. The staff at WC cares about each student and provides students with as many learning opportunities as possible - their STEM program allows students to go into the community to learn from local businesses, brings in guest speakers to talk about what they are learning in the classroom is important for the real world. It is easy to focus on the negatives (like bullying etc) when filling out these types of reviews but I feel it takes families and the school to work together and WC does that - I am proud that my student went through WC.

The teachers at WCMS go above and beyond to help students. Many work with students during off time (before school, during lunch, after school).

The dean of student, campus security and administration support students when bullying is reported. The counseling staff also helps students problem-solve conflict.

They ABSOLUTELY do not handle bullying until it is too late and they are inconsistent. I have been on both sides of this unfortunately. Each problem was handled differently and to be frank if there is one more issue we will hire an attorney.

I can name only 3 teachers that I feel have made a lasting impact on my child. I can also say that at conferences those are the only teachers that acted like they cared. Kelly Parks, Scott Erickson, and Christine Tabor.

This question is a joke. I think alot of students I watched grow up have gone downhill since attending this school. Also, lately there have been walkouts due to the Florida shootings. I wanted to witness one so I drove to the school. The kids were outside skipping around and left campus. This could have been orchestrated by a person of trust...even if it was an aide or a parent volunteer. It wasn't. The kids had no idea why they walking out. They wanted to ditch and I witnessed this 1st hand. I know it's a fine line due to the politics involved but to allow 11-13 year olds to make their own decisions and walk off campus is beyond me.

The counselor and the security officer are great as far as office admin goes. I can attribute that the principal and asst principal have been inconsistent in our dealings.

I rate it a 1. I can't even say that besides in math my child has learned anything he didn't know in 5th grade. The only reason I don't change his school is because socially, junior high is an incredibly difficult time. I educate my child at home with resources like Kahn Academy to stay on top of learning.

We had to pull our child out of WC after spending months working on a transition plan from elementary to middle school.

School personnel were unwelcoming and rude to community counseling services that were contracted for the benefit of our children. In my opinion, they were jealous, which has no place in a professional environment. They were unwilling to learn about how best to reach children who have experienced severe trauma.

The Affective Needs teacher told me himself that he was not there to be an authority figure or make my child do his work. He was there to be his buddy.

I was also told the school does not believe in homework. If it is not done in class, there is no need to finish.

My child was allowed to leave class and basically do what he wanted. At times 3 adults couldn't control this child who did not have these problems in elementary school.

My child regressed so much during his short time at WC, it took him 3 weeks of being at home before he felt safe again.

The whole Affective Needs program at TVSD needs to be examined very closely. If your child has special needs, I would avoid this school and district at all costs.

WCMS is an excellent school. The staff goes above and beyond to help students learn and thrive. The administration is very caring towards students and staff. The STEM program is amazing. I would highly recommend Walt Clark Middle School.

Walt Clark Middle School is a school that cares about their students. If I have a concern I know it will be addressed immediately by teachers and administration. The STEM programs that they are building are great opportunities for our student.

Terrible. I've had 3 students in this school over the past 4 years. Teachers are overwhelmed and teach primarily by handout, grades are frequently entered incorrectly, or not at all (leading to confusion about missing/ungraded work), and morale is awful. Additionally there is a general culture of intimidation, including frequent police presence, and threats to search students' personal property. I would not recommend this school to any parent who has a choice. My daughter is a straight A student who loved school until she went to Walt Clark; now she hates it. Meanwhile the administration seems completely indifferent.

Like most parents I was unsure how our daughter would make the transition from elementary school to middle school, the staff has made her transition a walk in the park. Thank you. I would recommend the school to anyone. My only complaint is the school website and trying to get information regarding the school calendar etc... without calling. Needs improvement.

I'd like to share how much I've been so impressed by the level of professionalism and compassion that I've witnessed and experienced, my child feels known, respected and very well cared for by all of the adults on staff at Walt Clark. People at Walt Clark go above and beyond what is expected. Walt Clark is a wonderful school! I would highly recommend this gem to any parent looking for a great school. The principal Martha Gustafson made us feel welcome from the very first moment we meet her, and she continues to pay close attention to our child and our family. Just walk through the doors and you will instantly feel the warmth, caring and high standards!

I couldn't be more thrilled with Walt Clark! Both of my kids went to the school and althought they have completely different needs both of my students thrived socially and academically at Walt Clark. The teachers where inspirational and caring and the prinipal was very involved with both of our kids. Thank you for a job well done Walt Clark! I highly recommend this school to any parent!

I don't even know where to begin...I expected a difficult transition between elementary and middle school, but nothing could prepare me for the hardships my child and I would face at Walt Clark. From the beginning of the 2012 school year, my child was harrassed and bullied by the same sfudent relentlessly. After numerous meetings with the school counselor, there were no repercussions for the bully, and so the misery went on for my child. Because of this, I reported the incidences to the principle and 3 weeks later she has not returned my calls. This is not my only complaint however, there is no communication between school and home at Walt Clark. They expect e-mails and a parent website (which requirs obtaining-which took half the school year to get from them-and using a 20 character user name) to be sufficient. Neither of these are effective due to the fact that they are not checked daily by teachers (even every other day would be nice)! If my child has a missing assignment, there is no way for me to find out what the assignment entails, etc because e-mails are answered long after the item is due. My child has gone from a B average to failung in 1 year at this school.

Walt Clark is a fantastic school! The teachers and staff are dedicated to helping students succeed. I know many families that have children that attend there and they are very happy. When my child is old enough to send to middle school I will be driving across town to send them to Walt Clark. As for bullying on the other reviews I heard they are now a No Place for Hate school. Maybe that will help.

The worst school our family has ever had the misery of dealing with. Example? We had to deal with an English teacher who finally updated the missing assignments in MAY, after assuring us all was well for 3 months. Our child was passed through every single grade with all 'F's (Let the high school deal with it?) They take the "No child left behind" to the extreme. If your child attends here, you may as well let them ditch for 3 years.

My child is in her second year at the horrible school. Everyday my child complains about being harassed and being alone. Nothing gets done to the point where it changes anything. It's hard when your child asks everyday if she can stay home and tells me that her telling the teacher and principle doesn't help. I have called and had meetings with teachers, the counselor and the principle and it doesn't change anything. I would never recommend this school in fact I strongly advise against it. Since there is about five months left at school I cannot switch her but there is no way she will attend this school for eighth grade.

We moved our children to a different school because of the drugs, bullying, and harassment our children we subjected to. The new school is positive, inclusive, no cliques, and the administration is outstanding. We wish we hadn't wasted the previous years at WC and left sooner.

I'm moving my child to a different school so obviously I wouldn't recommend WCMS. The principal and student environment are not good. The principal ignored voice messages I left. When I finally was able to get a meeting set up with her she wasn't there for our scheduled time. Then she lied about why, not a real good example for the kids. The kids are clicquish and many are downright mean.
