Many classroom coordinators are not good. They are the ones who bully the kids, they do not harbor a safe environment. They are young, havent had training in teaching and it shows. Unfortunately the administration is just as bad as they do not listen to parents concerns and allow the coordinators to carry on.

My son chose to attend LCS after realizing the chaotic environment in regular public middle school was a distraction to his learning. I was shocked, but he really likes the conversational format of the classes. He's likes most of his teachers. After not coming home with homework ever from k-8 in regular public schools, he now comes home with probably far too much homework. However, he gets it done because there is an expectation for success not only from us, his parents, but also from his teachers. We, as parents, do appreciate the expectations set for students and the values such as respect, honor, truth that they uphold. LCS is a very core based school - math, science, history, English - not offering many electives or sports. However, kids can participate in sports at LHS or Mountain View. The subject matter of most classes is very traditional/classical. Its been a good experience for us, but I can understand that it is not for everyone.

For context on my review, I myself hold a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Classical History. Ive tried my best not to take it personally - but I do feel like some of the teachers at this school power trip on making it almost impossible for students to achieve a 100% grade on anything. They often times take off for no reason and with no context as to why, and as a hardworking parent Ive never seen this in elementary school. We have tried to meet with the teacher multiple times and shes been coincidently absent for each time. Weve reached out to the principal and hes yet to reply. We take education seriously in my household, so this is disheartening to both us and my child. We love the school overall, but some teachers should not be in their positions. Additionally, I think socially the teachers show a lack of empathy and EI towards small children. Often with inappropriate expectations based on age. If my daughter was not already settled in the school we would not be continuing next year.

My kids are having a great experience at Loveland Classical. The approach to learning is challenging. The classical education approach provides a foundation for ongoing learning that is much better than what my older kids received at other schools. The support that my kids receive both from the teachers and from the other students is outstanding. Yes, expectations are high, but I feel like my kids are going to well prepared for college.

My child has had an extremely difficult time at the academy. The atmosphere of the school leans heavily religious and republican and the education feels extremely dated. The environment feels draconian and unwelcoming to all students and Ive noticed a lot of gaps in what my child has been taught. Ive heard terrible things about the administration and it seems like they only care about satisfying the base of religious parents instead of actually teaching the students.

My son has special needs. He has cerebral palsy, and has struggled with dexterity and cognitive thinking his entire life. He has been on an IEP since the fifth grade which was way too late, but his old classical school was excellent in every other way. I thought that putting him at lovelannd classical school would result in an even better experience, but that absolutely was not the case. The teachers demean children they do not help when a student needs it and the ones that are great, do not stay. My son started has only had ONE IEP meeting since hes been there and hes been there for three years. Last year, the teacher who he had the biggest issues with didnt even bother to show up. This year, he was put in two different teachers who offered math and literature, but he ended up being put in to different teachers classes last minute who he failed and struggled with, and never had any help with- discovering this on the first day of school. I am fed up with the way that they treat him the fact that he has an IEP the fact that he struggled and no teacher has helped him, and clearly the good ones know this school is no good, because they always leave. If your child struggles, this school will not help your child. If they have any kind of special needs they only like children who are excellent who have A+ grades and are in sports. So if your child struggles at all, do not put them in the school.

Honestly I think the perspective that matters most for these reviews is one from a student, not a teacher, or parent, or staff member. So take it from someone who graduated from this school. Lcs is an odd experience that I got lucky enough to have. I don't know what the school is like now, and I remember that towards the end of my time there the school was heading in some directions that I did not like. So what can I say about this school? I had amazing teachers and a community that was filled with passion. That being said Im not a fan of some of the upper staff or board members, and I can't stand the way this school promotes itself either. Most kids will agree that it all comes off as very pretentious. The uniforms and rigid dress code, as well the ridiculous discipline and showmanship makes it all feel like a facade to please the parents that send their kids there, and I can't blame the school for this because they got most of their funding from these parents in the first place. I can't help but feel that a lot of parents send their kids here for rather selfish reasons too. It feels like most parents send their kids here either because they want their kid to make them look good as parents, or because they want to keep their kids from experiencing reality and stay indoctrinated into their own beliefs. You have no Idea how many classmates I had that were absolutely isolated from reality and a-posing beliefs. Parents If you send your kids here in hopes they will be taught your own values then you are surely mistaken. The truth about classical education is that it teaches critical thinking and a discovery of self. Your kid will not be learning to be another you, but instead their own person, and they will be exposed to ideas that may challenge their existing beliefs. This was what I found most satisfying and valuable about LCS. Seminar and dialogue is where this thrives. The perspectives of every classmate is made to thrive and interact with one another in these discussions, and it is an incredibly beautiful thing. I will never forget what this school gave me, because in a lot of ways it gave me my sense of self, so as much as I want to rag on some of the elites culture this school appears to have, under the surface it is nothing like that. My experience however is kind of lucky and unique. The school is not for everyone, it still lacks diversity, freedom, and a lack of class options. It is also dependent on the entire class engaging.

This review is for the Lyceum campus elementary level. My daughter is attending her first year here as a first grader. I would like to mention that this is the only school in the district that opened in August and has stayed open during COVID. We have not had any transmissions at the elementary level and the school is doing a great job to keep the kids in school.

I have been impressed with the content of the material. I feel that most of her teachers have been exceptional, including her class coordinator. I have also, had the opportunity to listen in to a weeks worth of online learning. I felt that this really gave me perspective on what her day is really like. Im satisfied with what I heard going on in the classroom and think that my daughter is thriving.

Some other reviewers have mentioned that people only write these reviews when prompted by admin. That being said, I would like to note that this review is prompted only by myself and I do not work at the school.

My childs classroom coordinator aka teacher was bullying my child. She had no educational training beyond high school and yet was teaching my child core virtues she routinely didnt allow my child access to the bathroom or to water, and gave her yellow cards for no reason, which required her to pick up discarded food waste from the lunchroom floor and run laps around the playground at age 6.

The main teacher is the classroom coordinator whom has no educational experience nor credentials, nothing more than an high school diploma. When dealing with children and teaching them core virtues the lack of credentials becomes more than apparent.

They give green, yellow, and red cards for character qualities but really it translates into playing favorites. So if your child is picked your golden but if theyre not, theyre getting yellow card daily- which is akin to getting the Scarlett letter and your child will suddenly develop self esteem issues you will struggle to correct. The school wont help as they wont even be able to remember why theyre giving your child so many yellow or red cards and youll lose communication with your child as their self esteem plummets.

I have friends with special needs and the teachers are always working with those kids to help them. Im not sure if other public schools have more funds for specialized classrooms dedicated to this, but if there are negative scores for a charter schools performance, I imagine it has more to do with a startup charter school not having the resources available.

I love that this school teaches core values. They also receive awards when they show those values during the day. My kids are not only learning a tremendous amount more than at any other school they could attend publicly, they are also learning how to be good people in society.

This is an amazing school. If you want a private education for your kids without having to pay for it, this is your school. Your children will learn context for history, and from the actual documents, not just a textbook regurgitation of history. Kids learn to critical thinking and not what teachers have told them to think. Those are the types of skills that will lead to confidence and success in life.

Would not recommend to anyone. They have classroom coordinators calling themselves teachers with absolutely no credentials or degree that are completely unqualified. The principal lacks accountability. Kids are punished by having to pick up trash or run laps around the playground.

LCS teachers are subject matter experts first, many with real-world experience in the fields they are teaching. The school then trains them to be effective teachers. This is different from how I've seen it done at other schools where a teacher certification is more important than subject matter knowledge. As a result, the students get content that is relevant to the subject taught by someone that has a strong grasp of the field.

Character education is a central curricular feature at LCS. This is built around "Core Virtues" which are (Courage, Humility, Prudence, Temperance, Generosity, Honesty, Responsibility, Service, Perseverance, Loyalty, Forgiveness and Integrity). The core knowledge curriculum used in the elementary school has been shown to level the educational playing field by ensuring that all students attain the necessary body of knowledge not only to advance but to succeed in the next grade levels. The work is challenging, to be sure, but it builds on previous work done in the classroom to create a momentum of knowledge. This is particularly important for students with learning differences, who can struggle with a disjointed curriculum or a curriculum that allows them to "learn at their own pace" (i.e. a slower pace which leads them to fall further and further behind their peers).

Part of the Core Virtues element of the LCS curriculum is teaching social skills. I have seen students reporting unkind behaviors and I have seen those behaviors corrected. Students seem to have a good sense of community.

First and foremost, Loveland Classical Schools partner with me as a parent to direct the education of my children. This means that, as a parent, I have a role to play in this process which is great. Teachers communicate frequently and there is an open door policy with school administration.

I am thrilled with what my children are learning - particularly when compared with what some of their peers who attend other schools are learning. For younger kids, the core knowledge curriculum is built around building a solid foundation of knowledge - covering reading and math skills, as well as a solid grasp of fundamental history and science. The language, music and art teachers are also dedicated to their crafts. My kids are EXCITED to learn, and CHALLENGED to learn more.

Although my kids are still young, I have had the opportunity to watch some of the classes in the middle and high schools. The classical education - particularly the Great Works - is something you really should see to believe. The conversations I have seen would not be out of place in a university. The hard work of knowledge building in the early grades really pays off when that knowledge is applied in the later grades.

Final point: I've seen some people complain that the content is too rigorous and the school's community too strict - particularly for students who are struggling. My experience has been that the high expectations and structure are more important for struggling students than anyone else. LCS has been the antidote to the cult of lowered expectations that lets so many kids fall through the cracks. At LCS the philosophy is to set the bar high and then help students to succeed at surpassing it.

Horrible. I know Loveland schools aren't good academically, but they will be much better emotionally for your child than LCS. You need to check with the District school board and ask about the issues with this school. Also try to find out how many hundreds of families have left this school since it opened. You will find they are purposefully not keeping good records of that. As well as teachers can't even get their own kids to attend and have to resort to homeschooling or sending them to different school. They claim that kids that don't do well there just can't keep up academically, but this is far from the truth. All my kids have tested into gifted and talented, but all were miserable and failing at LCS. Too much of our money has now been spent on counseling from PTSD from this school, which the counselor said she has an extreme amount of kids that have attended LCS. Coincidence?

The informational night is pure propoganda. Don't trust your child's emotional wellness or education to people such as this. If you were told that this was a "Christian" school, really evaluate what you believe "Christian" to be. If having teachers tell at classes, administration lie about performance, having bullying being rewarded, and rampant discrimination and elitism be the standard operating procedure, then you'll love it there! If you prefer that to child is well educated, nurtured, and supported, you better look somewhere else.

Unfortunately there is a culture of shaming and blaming the students for the school's poor academic performance, despite promises made to parents that LCS is an academically strong school. The elementary school recently came in last out of all schools in the entire district for academic performance. Recent reports show teachers have resorted to yelling at the children on a widespread basis.

This school has never had an administrator with previous administrative experience. LCS is entering its 8th year and has poor test scores, the highest per capita violent incident rate of all high schools in the district, and has a very high teacher and student turnover rate. Admin has continually run it into the ground since the day the doors opened.

Despite promises of character training, the school has a serious bullying issue. Our two children were relieved to transfer to other schools and immediately observed how much better behaved the children were at their new schools. Children spit into other student's water bottles, purposely expose highly allergic classmates to nut butters to hurt them, get into physical fights that require calling an ambulance... the student culture is not healthy.

My experience is that this school was founded on some wonderful ideas that have been very badly executed. I constantly hear from parents that their children are struggling: below grade level and not getting help, hate themselves, hate school, think they are dumb (understandable as teachers blame the students for the poor test scores), and struggling with emotional issues as well. My experience is that this school is a dangerous and unsafe place for children.

My daughter transferred to Loveland Classical in 10th grade. The amount of homework has been appropriate and manageable.
My daughter no longer has to choose between sleep and school work. She is happier and has experienced less stress this year at Loveland Classical. I attribute this to the effective approach to homework.

My daughter transferred to Loveland Classical School her 10th grade year. We have had a fantastic year and the transition was smooth. I would and have recommended LCS to families looking for a quality education and a safe and positive environment for their child. My daughter has enjoyed wonderful classroom discussions, she has progressed from zero German fluency to speaking fluently and even writing her literature study questions in the foreign language she is studying at LCS, and she has enjoyed her math and science classes. My daughter has especially enjoyed the Madrigal experience offered to her by LCS as well as the choir concerts and extra curricular drama program. I appreciate the low pressure environment. My daughter has not been stressed out about school this year. She has had a classical education with a bright and sunny disposition. She has experienced encouragement and patience from her teachers. I also would like to commend the administration on their ability to model the character traits they teach to the students.

The school has had the same poor leadership for several years. Numerous parents have complained to the board and SAC committee about the administration but nothing ever changes. The school board rarely does what is in the best interests of the students.

Overall horrible. At face value the school seems to have all the right components in place to be a great school. However, the school is not effectively executing any of their programs effectively. Examine their test scores and ask about their average SAT/ACT scores. They are scoring well below the other schools in the district. Last year the elementary school was ranked at the bottom of all elementary schools in the district for academic performance. Only two schools very below LCS and they were both in turn around status according to the CDE. DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you send your child here.

The core virtue program at the school is not what is sold to parents. Most of the time the program consists of "free time" for the students and little is ever said about virtue. Bullying runs rampant at the school and nothing is ever done about it. In five years of having my kids at the school, not a single core virtue class, assembly or even a pamphlet was given to either of my students.

The principal cares nothing of the students and is only concerned with the bottom line and school's image. He will tell you whatever you want to hear so that he can save face, but then will not follow through on his promises to you. The principal has no prior experience as an administrator and has not been trained to be one either. He purposefully has no interaction with the students.

No matter if you child is on an IEP or is just struggling to keep up, if they are behind, they will just fall farther behind at LCS. There is no intervention program at LCS, meaning that students are not taught at their level. They are just expected to work harder to cut it, instead of being provided the extra support they would at other schools to be able to be successful.

This is a huge issue at the school. Students are expected to be like soldiers in boot camp/ robots in the classroom, so when they leave the learning environment, they act up to get it out of their systems. This leads to a great deal of bullying issues on the playgrounds, in the hallways and in the bathrooms.

Teachers at the elementary and middle levels do not communicate on who is giving a homework assignment each night. This leads to nights with no homework and then other nights where your student has multiple subjects of homework, taking hours to complete.

I would highly recommend that you look at not only the test scores which do speak volumes about the school's effectiveness, but also find someone who has had a student who attended the school and speak with them in depth about their experience. We were told for five years that our students were "doing great" and "above grade level" at LCS and when we finally moved them, we found the ugly truth. They were both significantly behind grade level expectations in all subject areas, especially math and literacy. Both of my students never felt like they were good enough at LCS and the school crushed their creativity, individuality and self esteem. Please be wary of the positive reviews you read about this school! The administration team, along with a group of the "elite parents", who are always catered to, run a campaign to elicit parents to write positive reviews and even create multiple accounts to write multiple reviews on the same site. We were asked numerous times to write reviews that shed a positive light on the school. In good conscience, we could not bring ourselves to create multiple accounts and write multiple positive reviews for the school when we knew they were false. There used to be a position at the school that was solely for the purpose of writing positive reviews and working to get negative reviews removed from websites.

We have been very happy with the education our children have received at Loveland Classical Schools. In addition to the excellent core curriculum, there is also an emphasis on character building. Children learn the essential knowledge required to grow and thrive. They also become well rounded, respectable members of society who are prepared to face the world with confidence and integrity.

We have had a wonderful experience at Loveland Classical's high school. Classroom sizes are smaller and the students really benefit from the individualized attention they receive because of this. The administration of the school is supportive to family, students, and teachers alike, a near impossible balance to maintain, yet somehow Ian Stout manages this with graciousness and respect.

The students at the school are a great mix of different viewpoints, backgrounds, etc., so my student is able to hear an entire spectrum of opinions during classroom discussions (which is something often lacking in other more homogenous charter schools).

LCS is also very welcoming and accommodating to students with 504s and IEPs, again something often lacking in charter schools--and also why I would argue that their test scores are lower than other charter schools; they actually work with kids that need student services instead of trying to phase them out.

The teachers are one of the greatest gifts of this school. They love what they teach. You can tell this isn't "just a job" for them; it's a calling. They treat the high school kids as adults and have a great mentoring relationship with most of them.

Lastly, the amount of extra curricular activities here really help create more well-rounded students. For the size of the school, there's a great amount of activities for kids to be involved in. And since the school is a smaller size, students can be involved in many different activities, not just things they already specialize in.

I would definitely recommend this school to anyone looking for a enriching, supportive, and challenging high school experience for their children.

LCS is departmentalized, so from a parent's view you interact with A LOT more teachers per child! Naturally, this increases the occasion for miscommunication, but at the same time decreases the occasion for a student dropping behind in all subjects because of an insufficient teacher during one grade level. I LOVE how my children are learning the flexibility of learning from one teacher in one style and then 5 minutes later transition to learning from another teacher and how he teaches. Being flexible enough to learn from a variety of modes, I think, is great training for "real life".

Character training is set apart and has its own curriculum as well as reinforced in classroom management and between peers and between student and his/her approach to school work. They also integrated core subjects (like history, science, etc.) to show/define it in context. This doubling up really delivers a dynamic understanding of character to the students. It starts strong in Kindergarten all the way through 12th.

This is the #1 area I've seen LCS improve on this 2018 school year. Being a new school, they couldn't launch with everything they hope to excel at in place. But this year especially I see more accommodations and infrastructure achieving necessary support for each individual student and their learning needs. Personally, my son is slow to thrive in literacy--we've received thorough observation and feedback, thorough communication and coordination of how we (teachers in the classroom & parents at home) can work together to meet him at his level, accommodate to support his needs, and supply him with the tools he needs to progress forward.

My Kindergartener typically has one worksheet a week plus flashcard practice. My 4th grader typically has one assignment from Math, English, and History per WEEK and the occasional special assignment (like a report due, or study for a test, etc.). From a parents view, each new grade comes with the expectation each student will increase in independent management and responsibility in handling their in-class schoolwork and homework. I can see my 4th grader being "primed" now, for excelling at managing her own workload for next year and years to come. As she excels and gets better at it, she shows great pride in her accomplishment! I love that!

5 star is the rating I give this school because:
1) The classroom experiences far exceeds every other school in the area: From dissecting a cow lung and eye ball, participating in a live simulation of the Caste System for a day, to dressing in Civil War garb and "fighting" for their freedom while reenacting major events in American history, to learning to write cursive culminating in reading and writing important American documents (Declaration of Independence, Constitution, etc.) with a quill to participate with our Founding Fathers, to even a day simulating life in Greek and Roman history, to little things like-- every child at every grade level having multiple opportunities for public speaking in front of their class each year. LCS doesn't teach to a test for good test scores for larger funding. LCS excels at providing a knowledge-rich learning environment so that young minds think and thrive!
2) The mission of this school starts with: to "assist parents in developing young minds". I've experienced other schools seeing parents as the problem or hindrance. LCS is not childcare with a side of education; it's a school where parent involvement is a great honor and asset to sync with great education for great impact.
3) My children are given great challenges within a context of great support. I see them push hard to apply themselves to the challenge, then beam with the honor of success when they finally achieve it, and then cheer with their peers as they then achieve it together. One of the first things I noticed about Loveland Classical is how they enact their motto: "Let us falter that we may flourish". Their goal is not success every time, nor great test scores. Loveland Classical is a school providing an educational climate for your child to: flourish! Flourishing doesn't come with getting the answer right first, every time. Flourishing comes with strength and bravery to continue until you know it. This is invaluable for all of life!

I have encountered several of the rotational "teachers" and each of them appear so disorganized, overwhelmed and uncoordinated. The classroom coordinators have absolutely no control over their days/routine... and often have very agitated attitudes towards the kids and parents.

Sure, these are things that are discussed routinely in their morning forum groups, but when a child steps outside their perfect circle and gives them something to demonstrate these traits with... they have no idea of how to handle it. Words are just words in this regard. It's just something that looks pretty on paper to tell to new incoming parents who have no idea.

One of my sons has ADHD and has trouble sitting for a long period of time. I was told this wouldn't be an issue AT all and that in fact, they had accommodations for students like him. Turns out, the accommodations are pulling him out of class and making him sit in the principals assistants office or taking away his recess time. Where they were suppose to reposition his desk... or give him a foot bungee to move with his feet... or a ball to sit on, etc... none of those promises were kept. And instead, my child has been treated like a nuisance that they only tolerate for funding.

Awful. I've experienced several negative attitudes from the staff. I've received no communications regarding my concerns about the homework chaos and my attempt and desire to help my children find an effective routine with their responsibilities. I even had referrals sent to the State and the department of child protective services when my 5 year old showed up with a bruise on his forehead after falling at the playground (THEIR PLAYGROUND).

I have 3 children that attend this school each in separate grades - K, 1st and 2nd. We were told that the homework and parent communication would be succinct and seamless... that was a lie. Every night I find myself on what feels like a scavenger hunt trying to determine what assignments are coming home. For my Kinder, I have to use a mobile app called class Dojo to get parent correspondence and then cross reference that with the webside notes and his Friday folder. For my 1st grader, we have to view the website and check emails and for my 2nd grader... we literally have to check the website, folder and emails. There are so many nights where an email will indicate homework coming home to be due the next day, but then there is NOTHING in the homework folders and when I check online... it says that the homework is coming home on a different day, etc. I've even written notes to the teachers and placed it in the folder to return to the school, but they never check it or respond. Emails also go unanswered. There is absolutely NO coordination whatsoever and it makes homework absolutely impossible!

This school is great. I'm a current student there and I have learned far more than I would have if I had gone to a normal public school. While the homework load is much larger than a normal school, teachers are willing to take their own time to help student if needed. All teachers are very approachable. The teachers are also willing to try and help the students pass their classes. This school has really helped me. Don't listen to the people writing bad reviews, partially because they are mostly listening to kids who will make big deals about almost anything that goes slightly wrong. Also I am there everyday to witness what happens and I have rarely experienced any bad events there.

Awful.
My son went from loving school at his old school to hating school in just one semester at LCS. The teachers may know the topics they are teching but they don't know how to teach it. They have no control over the students and so students stand, rather than sit, at their desks during class. Talking is out if control and teachers can't keep a class quiet. The biggest bullies are some of the teachers. They don't tell you here, but there are 30 students crammed in a small classroom with one "classroom coordinator" who can't coordinate anything and there is another teacher that comes in to teach each subject. 2teachers in a room of 30 kids and it still feels like a 3 ring circus! My son has never even seen the principal, he doesn't interact with students at all. They are inconsistent with rules, dress code, follow-up to issues and behavior matters.
If you haven't registered here already, send your child to any other school but this one!!

Loveland Classical has made such a positive impact in my children's lives that we are forever grateful for the school. Their focus on character education reiterates what is taught at home. The staff's passion for learning is contagious, and every day that I pick up my children from their school, they can't wait to tell me the amazing things they learned. Chemistry, classical literature, complex mathematical equations, battles that changed history, favorite classical composers, and an understanding and appreciation for different art techniques fill our conversation at dinner. We are so blessed to be part of this school and to have so many caring and passionate teachers. We have attended since the school opened in 2011 and have seen marked growth every year. We can't even fathom how it will improve next year.

If your child is a minority, has a disability or delay, likes sports, is socially accepted, or isn't rich and white, he or she will fail and flounder while staff lies about how great they are. The high school kids are not academic (check their SAT and ACT scores), not college-bound (2017 graduating class had 40% go to college), and unbelievably socially awkward and unable to mingle with their average peers, or attend a school that doesn't cater to their lack of social skills and alternative lifestyles. Elementary is current ranked the absolute worst in the district. Do your homework.

Teachers? Instructors are not required to have a teaching degree. In addition, the school has high turnover which creates constant inconsistencies in the curriculum. The class sizes are large for grades K-5 where the average is 30 per instructor. Most instructors have very limited experience and severely lack classroom management.

A school of this size (approximately 850 students) should have an experienced Administration team which this school lacks. The principal had NO previous experience and should never have been put into this leadership position. Since his placement in this role the school morale, turn-over in employment, student behavioral issues, and parent dissatisfaction has increased ten-fold. The primary focus of their time is spent hearing an extremely vocal parent community that dictates how the school is ran. An elite group of parents are consistently catered to. Why even have a Principal? He lacks vision, direction, and the ability to command this school.

A waste of time. What a great disappointment; I should have moved my student to another school after their first year. With high class numbers, constant instructor and staff turnover, low student morale, and a total lack of concern for adherence to basic curriculum, in addition to serious inconsistencies between grades and state test scores, I should have made the critical decision to move my student to a real school. What a waste of time. My child's education and mastery in the classes is not the primary concern to the Principal.

Disastrous. Kids become so stressed because they want to learn but many teachers are not trained or competent, yet expect the students to learn with insufficient instruction. Kids cry a lot there and think they are stupid, not because the teaching is high level, but the opposite. The teaching is poor and when kids don't learn, they are told that they are making the teachers look bad. Emotionally damaging to students.

WATCH out and beware of comments like the one below where there is no positive feedback whatsoever and only endless ranting. My children have been here for 5 years and we love it. YES there are some improvements that could be made, but I would challenge you to find a school where this isn't true. My children are very bright and I credit it to Loveland Classical's curriculum and wonderful teaching. Also, I know many parents who pulled their students from LCS for other disctrict schools and they have all commented on how their children's schoolwork/homework is not challenging at their new school. I find it hard to believe these parents would all say the same thing if in fact LCS's standards are lower then others.

Watch out! Really check out the credentials of the leadership (or lack of) and teachers. Don't let the excuses and grades fool you. Check scores for yourself and talk to those who have left. Too much dishonesty and too many secrets, all at the expense of your child's education. And when you see a bunch of positive reviews all at the same time, it's because they tell parents to go review with 5 stars and use multiple email addresses so they can give more than one review.

Used to be such a good school. With the principal change several years ago, it has continually declined academically and in integrity. Such a shame. They will tell you anything just to get your kids in the door, but not do much to ensure safety of quality education.

This school has taken a significant downturn over the last three years. The administration is inexperienced and lacks integrity when it comes to doing what is best for the students. The administration boasts about the success of the school but standardized tests and school administered benchmark tests show otherwise. The majority of the staff is inexperienced, unlicensed, and lack a background in education. These is also huge staff turnover every year. The school claims to be a classical school but if you compare it to a classical school like Ridgeview, LCS looks just like every other neighborhood school. The school needs a significant overhaul of curriculum, staff and administration. Until such time as the extensive problems are remedied I would caution any parents who are considering this school.

The school has no real leadership. The principle is inexperienced and a "yes man". He will tell you exactly what you want to hear but will not follow through with his promises. The assistant principles simply follow the principle and will not stand up for or do what is best for the students. There needs to be a change in leadership for this school to turn around.

Teacher are inexperienced with little to no background in education. The teachers aren't required to have a teaching license to work at then school and are therefore not required to have a background in education. The administration claims that the teachers are subject matter experts and are therefore more valuable than licensed teachers. Based on the poor test scores it seems apparent that these subject matter experts are not effective teachers.

My son has been attending LCS since it's opening year and is currently a fifth grader, my daughter in second. My son has enjoyed most of his teachers and enjoys learning. The curriculum is exceptional and staff work hard to bring enjoyment of their subjects into the classroom. Fifth grade has been a bit more difficult for him as the CC (Classroom coordinator) was new to the school this year and had difficulty keeping structure in the classroom., for this reason, I took off a star. However, we know that LCS has had huge success having CCs in the room (departmentalization) and so our hope is that those new CCs will have a better understanding of their roles as CCs for the next school year. LCS offers many after school opportunities for kids 5th and above. I would say that the Great Schools score is incorrect "5/10" since the school provides many after school activities and sports. As a parent that continually wants to encourage my children in all they do, to persevere when things become challenging, and to be a person of virtue and great character, I am pleased with the focus LCS has on character education. We are happy to be a part of the LCS family! If I could ask anything to be worked on, it would be to bring back the quality structure classrooms had in it's first 2-3 years of operation. Our son is completing his first year at the Loveland Classical Schools high school campus. It has been a WONDERFUL year for him. There is an atmosphere of respect and acceptance at LCS that is refreshing. The teachers are passionate about teaching while engaging and encouraging each student to reach their best potential. The administrative and teaching staff have been so supportive and encouraging. The student body has been very welcoming and inclusive. Weve appreciated the built in study halls and after school academic support. Not only is there an emphasis on high academic standards, but developing the whole child and moral character development is a major focus as well. The twelve Core Virtues of Responsibility, Honesty, Generosity, Service, Perseverance, Loyalty, Forgiveness, Integrity, Courage, Humility, Prudence, and Temperance are taught, demonstrated and incorporated into the curriculum of academic excellence. Best school in Loveland, CO!!! The teachers care deeply for each student. The parents rally together when there is a need for volunteers, supplies, fundraising, student activities. It's a family! PLUS they are the only school in Loveland that is NOT COMMON CORE!! We teach Singapore Math making it an easier transition into higher math concepts. We use Riggs (phonics) to teach children how to read. This helps with unfamiliar words as they grow. We teach critical thinking through the use of seminars (group discussion) and everything centers on using source documents! My 5th grader can still recite the Preamble to the Constitution that he learned in 2nd grade! Now he is learning the Gettysburg Address. The Civil War Reenactment and Ball are yearly highlights, too! Our kids are thriving, we love the structure and the culture of respect. Come check them out if you are seeking a new home for your student! They have monthly open houses that really give you a flavor of our school.

Loveland Classical School is a one of a kind educational experience!! My oldest son is in first grade and has always been a very voracious learner. As parents we have always been a little worried about him becoming bored or not challenged in a way that would nurture his amazing mind. LCS has been the best choice! He is excited every day! Departmentalization allows for fresh energy with each subject, exposure to a variety of approaches from teachers and in-depth knowledge in each subject. LCS sets up their students to be exceptional community stewards through the practice and implementation of core virtues. The teachers ask children to think and be active in their learning. The family-like community in this school is also another huge plus. Many of the teachers here go above and beyond their call of duty and provide many amazing experiences for their students on their "own time". These are things like civil war reenactments, classical nights, salsa dancing, madrigal dinners, socials and much, much more!! The teachers also participate in professional development on their own time, and unpaid! We are forever grateful that we have found LCS!

Having taught in a variety of schools over the last 17 years, I now find myself as a parent of a Kindergarten student. LCS has been a wonderful fit for our family. The high academic and behavioral expectations impress me daily. Emphasis is placed on character and virtuous living. The teachers see my child as an individual learner. Within the first month of school, we were asked if he could be integrated with students from other classes who were at a comparable literacy level. He absolutely LOVES having the opportunity to read with his friends in the 1st Grade class! Our family is VERY thankful to have the 'choice' of this school in our community!

My students have been at Loveland Classical Schools since the first year it opened. They could not be happier! They are learning how to learn at LCS. This school provides a core knowledge based elementary education which seamlessly leads to a classical secondary education. If you have never read or heard anything about classical education, I would highly suggest that you look into it. This style of learning is based on the fact that there is truth in the world to be sought after. The more that I learn about core knowledge and classical education, the more that I am satisfied that we chose LCS to be our school. I am so happy that my children are happy here, but really, even if they wanted to go to a different school, I would still choose LCS for them. It is worth it!

We have 2 students at LCS in 4th and 1st. What initially attracted us to LCS was their core virtues, core curriculum and classical teaching style; what has kept us here is not only the aforementioned, but mostly our kids love of *all* subjects from being taught by their 9 (each) passionate and enthusiastic teachers who teach the subject matter they love through the unique "departmentalization" approach in the elementary. Ask my 1st grader his favorite subject and he will say spelling. What other school can get students passionate about spelling? He routinely sounds out and spells words - complex words - at home on his own, and gets them right! LCS uses the Riggs program for reading/writing, and that seems to make all the difference. Ask my 4th grader, and she would say math. She loves solving the "algebraic" (2 or more unknowns) challenges given her, and does it using bar modelling! LCS teaches Singapore math which employs bar modelling to teach students to simplify complex problems through a clear, visual and logical methodology. We love LCS and can't imagine our kids attending anywhere else. Thank you, Thompson School District BOE, for offering this school of choice.

I have a second grader at Loveland Classical Schools that has been attending since Kindergarten. Everyday after school she cannot wait to share about her day and she does it with such excitement. I feel that this is because she is mirroring back to me the excitement that her teachers present their subjects to her with. One of the best aspects of LCS is the departmentalized education in the elementary. The kids stay in the same classroom and have a different teacher for each subject. Each teacher is an expert in their subject, which means they are teaching what they are passionate about and this leads to better understanding on the part of the students. Overall, I have been so impressed with the staff, administration and the amount of learning taking place. LCS is definitely a great school!

I have third and first grade students at Loveland Classical Schools. Starting a new school is an enormous challenge and takes years of continued progress. Although LCS may lack in resources at times, we have not been dissapointed in the quality of education and commitment to learning from teachers and staff. This year, we have seen significant progress with the growth and future plans of the school. LCS takes an innovative and unique approach to subject matter and expects an equal amount of commitment from parents and students. My children love attending LCS so much that they are dissapointed when they can't go! If you expect high levels of achievement from a school, parents, and students then LCS may be the right fit for you.

We have witnessed tremendous growth in our children over the past 3 years while attending LCS. Upon transferring from a highly rated school district, our first grader was struggling with reading. Four weeks into the Riggs-based phonics program and she was soaring. Classical education is providing our children with critical thinking skills. What I love about Loveland Classical Schools is the Classical approach to education, departmentalization in the elementary school, and the use of the Core Knowledge sequence. At Loveland Classical Schools the goal is to not only cultivate the intellectual virtues, but moral virtues as well. Character matters at this school. Also the study and discussion of great books and original documents allows students to unfold the thoughts and words of those minds who forged and influenced Western Civilization. In the elementary grades, the passion, energy, and knowledge displayed by each subject area teacher is evident and contagious and the students are inspired in their learning. Finally, the Core Knowledge sequence is a well organized, integration of all subjects taught that allows the students to see the connection of all disciplines. In the end, the goal of this school is to not just fill by child's head with facts, but to spur her on to thinking logically and communicating her thoughts about everything that is true, good, and beautiful with eloquence!

Our grandson goes to LCS and has since it opened four years ago. We couldn't be happier with the school. The work is challenging and it's gratifying to see how he rises to those challenges. The staff is there to support him in all of his activities. He also is on a 504 plan and we've seen a significant improvement this year in the implementation of that plan. The staff and administration have done a very good job in evaluating and understanding his needs and then ensuring the plan is implemented in his classes. In addition to the academics they also focus on their core virtues and you can see the impact by the respectful and kind environment the students create while having fun. We couldn't be happier with LCS.

The school also has a dress code (not a school uniform though) that helps a great deal in eliminating social and economic labeling. We love this school! High academic standards and high expectations for student conduct. From my high schooler who's being challenged and doing work more in line with what I saw in college (or never!) to my kindergartener who's learning so much and truly valued by his teachers, this school is amazing. Even some of the "growing pains" they've experienced with the staff and being a new school haven't affected the children getting a high quality education. I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants their child to be challenged academically and to learn good values. If you're wanting your child to get an easy "A" and to be the popular football star or head cheerleader, this place will leave you unsatisfied and isn't for you. My child has been going to this school for 4 years and we continue to be impressed by it. Starting a new school is tough, but every year it has only gotten better. The staff truly care about your child. Their passion for teaching is impressive. My child comes home with only positive things to say about classmates and teachers alike. Ive spoke teachers at other schools who worry about giving out work they deemed "to hard" for the class. I really appreciate LCS for recognizing that if taught well, children are able to learn ancient history or concepts like the scientific method in first grade. My child thrives on school being interesting. I will say that one downfall of LCS is that they are not perfect. No school is, and I'm okay with that! They strive more so than any school I've seen to better themselves and take feedback seriously. I truly appreciate that.

Look into this school in every element. Be careful to sign up your children unless you have researched all aspects of learning, teaching, leadership, and everyday functionality. Getting in the lottery draw is easy as so many families leave there are frequent openings. People have characterized Charter schools as having more to offer than the public schools, but that does not hold true for this school. The elementary level is better, but grades 7-11 are not developed, they do not have the resources nor the equipment to educate higher level students. Not many options for social activities and sports. Very high rate of teacher turnover, and employees of all support services.

The Core Knowledge curriculum with an emphasis on classics is fantastic! The Riggs system used to teach reading, writing, & spelling makes so much sense, as does Singapore math. The curriculum is academically challenging, but that's been good for my kids. My 5th grader told me she would be bored if she were back at her old school. Even at the elementary level, teachers focus on their specialty (history, English, math, science, etc.) My kids are learning so much, things that I never got to study in school (and I grew up in this school district). The teachers are fantastic, and the school community (parents, volunteers, etc.) is great. Class sizes are still large, but there are two teachers in the classroom, and students are held to a high standard of behavior. I'm also impressed with the character virtues that are emphasized. Every time I go to the school, there are students holding the doors open for me or offering me their chair, etc. There are also many extracurricular activities being offered (soccer, basketball, volleyball, track, Spanish club, choir, drama club, Battle of the Books club, knitting club, etc.) I'm grateful to have this option for my children's education.

Loveland Classical Schools is a wonderful *choice* tuition-free charter school in Loveland, Colorado. We love this school, especially its departmentalization of the elementary school - where area-specific teachers in all the core curriculum (math, science, history and English) rotate through each elementary classroom teaching only the area they are passionate about! The elementary also rotates through art, PE, music and foreign language (Spanish or Latin, depending on grade level) each week. The teachers are absolutely wonderful and my kids love it! I have never seen such engaged students (not just mine) in classrooms. Come in for a visit (or attend an Informational Meeting) and you will see one of the best kept secrets in Loveland!

Loveland Classical School is a one-of-a-kind place. Students at all levels have a different teacher for each subject. A Classroom Coordinator (in the elementary grades) is the consistent face in the room. Teachers are experts in their field--so excited and passionate about their subject. I love how my children chatter on and on at night about what they are learning. This school also teaches from source documents. Another one of my favorite things is the way this school teaches character education during their Core Virtues time. The students are not only learning how to have virtuous character but they are watching their teachers live it out for them day in and day out! Loveland Classical Schools has made tremendous growth in it's first three years. It's focus is on great character and academics. Offering Spanish from grades K-3, Latin from grades 4-8, and elective offerings of French, Spanish, Latin, and Greek, students are immersed in languages from an early age. The Singapore Math curriculum results in students averaging at least a grade level ahead by middle school. The RIGGS phonics program allows students to decode words, opening up the entirety of the English written word. The teachers are observed at least quarterly, and stay at least an hour late every day for staff development and discussion. Parents can keep up date of their students progress through projected grades posted on ParentPortal and parent-teacher meetings offered on selected Fridays. A fundamental tenant of Loveland Classical Schools is that by holding the standard high, students will achieve excellence. I chose to come teach at this school because it seemed clearly THE place where I would be able to grow as a teacher. I was right, and I have never looked back. The staff and faculty are truly a special group of people with uncanny commitment to our students and our curriculum. This is our second year at LCS, we love the way they teach! In the beggining It was hard to adjust to all the homework, but now We have our rutine and we love it. My daughter has learned so many Things for a second grader, she loves her teachers, and all the rules! We have been at LCS for 2 years. The 1st year was a little bit of a struggle as to be expected, with a new school. However, this year has been a HUGE struggle with a couple of his teachers. Our son is on an IEP and has been since he started preschool. When we started this year, it was like we had to start all over with getting the teachers involved with his IEP. The special education staff resources are limited. They do what they can with what they have. Some of the classroom teachers, are terrible. They may have the knowledge of the subject they are teaching, but they do not know how to "teach". Especially children with learning disabilities. They have to be pushed to take the initiative to help these kids. They are so involved in standing up for the curriculum and philosophy of the school and not standing up for the children. The community of LCS is great, but some are lacking in teaching skills beyond what comes out of the textbooks. We are starting to get some resolution. Mr. Yu has been great about working on the concerns that we have. We have seen some turn around, but not until after several meetings. We want this school to succeed & think it can.

My two daughters just started LCS this year. We have been extremely pleased with the school. The teachers are phenomenal. I have never seen such professionalism and compassion for the students. My daughters are flourishing. The culture of the school is so pleasant. There is definitely a passion for teaching and the students learn so much. I am a student at Loveland Classical Schools. This is my third year here and I absolutely love it! I am in 10th grade.Everyone is so welcoming and nice, we are all like a family there. Teachers care about all of us and work extra hard to help us understand what they are teaching us. The ciriculum is wonderful, last year 9th grade I learned about the Greeks and Romans. We read the Illiad and Odessey, the math and science teachers are great too they made sure that we understand everything and explain with patiencen. We get the opportunity to learn Greek, Latin, French and Spanish. I would not change this school for anything. I do not know what would be of me if I was not at Loveland Classical Schools. This school does something so wonderful that I never thought it could happen in a public institution. Loveland Classical schools, while it does in fact teach it's students what is mandated by the district, facilitates thinking. It is a beautiful thing to see the teachers take a step back because their students want to solve the problem on their own. They never leave, for their rule at that point is that of a mentor, not one who gives answers because it's 'too hard'. Nothing is too hard at Loveland Classical Schools. The discipline found at L.C.S. is matched only with the ancient schooling traditions of old. Students of all kinds will emerge from L.C.S. as a steward to the community at large and a true individual.

We have four children who attend this school and have been very pleased. The teachers and staff expect a lot from the students and the students in turn expect a lot from themselves and rise to those expectations. It is not always easy for the students to stretch themselves, but they learn and grow in ways that they did not while attending other schools. Our family dinner conversations are filled with interesting lessons in Latin, World history, the periodic table, and Italian ballads. The academic curriculum and character education is extraordinary and exactly what we want for our children to learn. Teachers are passionate about their students and the topics they teach. LCS has been a great fit for our family.

This school does what most others often claim to do: it strives to teach everybody, often giving opportunities for struggling learners to revisit previously taught material in new ways, while allowing students who understand the material quickly means to move forward and meet their potential. Honestly, I don't know how the teachers do it. You can really tell that the teachers here believe that love of learning is the purpose of education. The leadership can be different than other schools, but I have found it to be a positive. Mr. Yu, I know from talking to teachers, really expects his instructors to be accountable for the quality of their teaching. He really goes out of his way to hear parent concerns. Sometimes there can be confusion about events, but I have not found it to be out of the normal for middle schools in general. Some people do leave the school, but there is a lot of transitioning around in Thompson district in general for some reason.

Putting my kids in this school was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Not only was the administrative staff a nightmare to communicate with; the "principal" and most teachers weren't any better! It would seem that no one here knows how to communicate with parents or their students. Furthermore, unless your child can get by teaching his/her self (because the teachers are a joke here) then I would suggest that you take your child elsewhere. This is the most unorganized, unethical, uneducated, elitist school I have EVER dealt with. It was the most horrible experience for my children and myself...I regret ever putting my kids in this school. The ONLY reason I gave it ANY stars is because I had to give at least one (according to this website). This school needs to be shut down or restructured with a REAL team of educators and leadership.

We had such high hopes for this school after attending an information meeting last year. The teaching philosophy seems like such a great idea. Unfortunately, we were severely disappointed in how much the school over promises but under delivers. Our oldest child (4th grade) was consistently bored in most classes (math in particular), and our youngest struggles with a few social issues that really should have been addressed by an IEP. This school does not have the resources to put an IEP into place in kindergarten, and we were told we would have to wait until 1st grade, when they would reevaluate. The communication at the school is absolutely terrible. After school activities were constantly cancelled the day of with no notification to the parents - my child would call me after school to let me know I needed to leave work to come pick her up, because a club had been canceled. The front desk is very unhelpful & unable to answer questions that aren't on the school website. Security was also a big concern - too many adults allowed to roam the hallways without IDs being checked at the front desk.

LCS and its faculty are no less than amazing. For the Instructors themselves not to care about tenure in order to teach at this excellent institution should tell one lots about the school itself. In speaking with, and getting to know the Instructors, you will find yourself in awe of the caliber of the individuals in addition to their backgrounds and teaching methodologies. The curriculum is exceptional at all grade levels and is meant to fully challenge each student to become the best version of themselves. This institution has changed my student's life forever - in a most positive manner. It is an honor and a privilege for us to have helped with ensuring the school would be operational in addition to having our child attend. He will be one of the very first graduating Seniors from LCS next year and he would be most happy to tell you that it has been the most positive experience in his young life to date. It is definitely worth checking into as it usurps any other public institution.

There are so many things I love about the school: the riggs program, Singapore Math, the morning forums, Civil War reenactments, Roman days, everybody wear uniforms there's no labeling, they focus on academic achievement, hard work and having upstanding character. I really had high hopes for this school. This is the second year my kids have attended LCS, and one of my sons is falling behind. My son has an IEP and this school is lacking in resources and support for the kids that need the extra help. For the most part, the teachers and staff are good, but the leadership and communication is lacking. The school is good for kids who thrive when challenged, and my other kids are performing well. In my opinion, I feel as though LCS needs to focus more on the students who need more support instead of trying to push them out of the school. I feel as though if they put half the effort they put into retention and fundraising into the students who are falling behind, then maybe they would have a great school.

This school is a breath of fresh air! The principal is fantastic and is constantly spending time in the classrooms and getting to know the students. We have been there from the start, and while there have been some less than ideal teachers, none have lasted more than one school year. Every position is reevaluated yearly. The expectations for the students are very high. They push the students and the students thrive because of it. They do not believe in entitlement and not only do they reward excellence, they don't puff the students up to falsely inflate their egos. Awards are only given to those who are worthy. I can't say enough good about this school! My children came from a school that could not meet their needs, but this school definitely does!

This is only the third year for Loveland Classical and things are looking better and better every day. The improvements are starting to really come a long nicely. It seems like parent participation is up a lot from previous years and the school is seeing more community support than ever before. My daughter is in second grade now and the teachers are wonderful. If I have any concerns, what so ever, they always get back to me very quickly and they also make my daughter feel good about herself and boost her self confidence seeing that she is very shy. The teachers make sure every child fits in with everyone else. They make sure they don't favor one child over another. I like that.

I can't say enough great things about this school. My child is thriving and learning material that is way beyond what her peers in other public schools are learning. The children are never bored due to challenging curriculum. They also teach values to the children such as kindness, respect, gratitude etc which you don't find in a "normal" public school setting. My son just started Kindergarten at Loveland Classical Schools. When he gets in the car at the end of the day, his first words are, "I can't wait to go back tomorrow!" It's obvious that he loves it and so do I. Here is why: Riggs Literacy, Singapore Math, Core Knowledge, Spanish K-4th grade, Latin 5-12th, Art, PE, Music, snack times, playtime & Morning Forum reading time. Starting in first grade specialized teachers teach each subject. There is a huge emphasis on personal responsibility and respect for others. There is a simple and modest dress code. Every teacher including the Principal is excited to be there. They are involved and truly love what they get to do. Respect, virtue, patience etc. Any time I have ever entered or excited the school any of the children hold the door open for me. They learn to respect adults. Every child deserves this level of education. We have had stellar teachers in other schools but have never experienced the feeling that the whole school was united in its commitment to its students. We are in our second year with LCS and have never witnessed outward complacency or dissatisfaction from the teachers. On the contrary, teachers have reached out to me personally to provide feedback about my children s progress, showing that they genuinely care about MY kids! I love the open door policy at this school and the opportunity for weekly progress reports; I never have to wait for report card time to speak one-on-one with the teachers. My kids come home with a thirst for knowledge that was missing before and as a result, we as parents are more engaged and more invested in their education. When teachers have a passion for what they teach like the teachers at LCS do, it benefits the kids in every way their passion is contagious!! I cannot begin to express my heartfelt thanks to the teachers and staff at this school. They are amazing! The creativeness involved in their lesson plans, the caring manner in which they deal with each individual child, the way they pull together to overcome challenges and celebrate victories is phenomenal. The students are excited to learn and to share what they are learning with others. They experience history and science by living it through things such as the Civil War Reinactment/Ball, researching and presenting Living Portraits of people in history, spending the day as Romans and building Roman roads using edible ingredients. They learn about the Solar System by visiting the planetarium and researching and designing a project of their own. They learn to speak publicly in front of their peers and parents without fear. They learn what it means to have virtuous character, to be responsible for their own actions, to be truthful, to be generous members of the community and to help others in need. I have been blown away by the incredible level of instruction and the kindness of the teachers! My children absolutely love their teachers, and they are learning so much! Absolutely amazing! I have two children attending, one in elementary and one in middle school. My kids come home excited about what they are learning, their teachers, and their peers. One of my children came to this school incredibly behind in reading and was given little to no attention at our previous school, but with the constant praise, instruction, and individual time from this dedicated, highly qualified staff, my child is now reading above grade level. I admit that we had to work very hard at home also (as any parent should do to prove to your child that education is important) and nightly reading work is difficult with working parents, but with the never-failing support and assistance of LCS, we did it! My middle school child had never been challenged at school and thought school was boring and a punishment. Now this same child leaves for school early because the desire to learn and grow is so strong. We have been so encouraged and excited to see the growth in academics and character since we switched to LCS! If you want your child to have an excellent education and believe that the school should partner with you in your student's success, this is the school for you!

What a great learning environment! When I was a kid at my public school, I was picked on a lot. I was afraid that my kids would have the same experience. I have been so amazed! At LCS, instead of the focus being on whether you are big, or a jock, or what label your shirt says or how much money you have, the focus is on academics. There isn't this "popularity clique" atmosphere. The characteristics that are valued are academic achievement, hard work, and upstanding character. What a nice break from the texting in class, bullying and low academic standards that we had become accustomed to.

I am so thankful! I was an elementary teacher and I know the challenge in teaching and engaging students. My grandkids attend Loveland Classical Schools and I am daily impressed. Not only are they acquiring an education that will further them in their careers, but they are actually taught and applying character traits that I see missing in so many of today's youth. One of my grandkids actually asked me for ideas of how to show "service" to her parents. My grandkids are excelling, learning Latin, understanding so much more than I have seen in any other school. I wish I had the opportunity in my youth to attend a school like this, or teach in a school like this that fosters respect and responsibility, and teachers are able to teach what they are passionate about, not forced to teach every subject. I loved music, history and literature and taught those very well. I know that when forced to teach subjects that you don't personally enjoy (as most elementary teachers are forced to do), that it becomes apparent in your lesson plans and delivery that you are not as impressed by that subject and it affects the kids. What a great idea to share your knowledge and excitement only! Great job!

I am a student at LCS. At first I didn't want to switch schools but now that I am there, I really like it. Last year, we did a Civil War reenactment in full uniform and it was really fun. I spoke at Classical Night, telling about the Second Punic War and the tactics that Hanibal used. I can say the Pledge of Allegiance in Latin, and like to translate things into Latin. History and Science are fun and I have learned more cool things in those classes than my friends at my old school have learned. There are lots of clubs too, like soccer and Spanish. I have a lot of friends here and my teachers are nice to me and if I ask for help, they go out of their way to help me, even respond to my emails and stay after school for me. I like Latin the best, I might even take Greek next year, as long as I can still take PE too.

I have two boys in the elementary school and I have never seen such amazing teachers. It is an academically challenging school as the educators believe that students will rise to a challenge and mine certainly have, surprisingly so. The standards are high but not unattainable. They believe that all students should be given the same chances in life to succeed and want to empower EVERY student to do just that. My older son comes home excited about his science, geography and math and my younger son loves music, P.E., math and English. They study Spanish and Latin. Just recently, I had two concerns and contacted the principal. We have had ongoing dialogue and he has already addressed one of the two concerns (the second is not so simple). The staff are hospitable and kind. If I could describe LCS in a few words it would be inspiring, challenging, growing, exciting, hard-working and far beyond my highest expectations. We have had a few opportunities to re-locate and cannot fathom moving from the area. Honestly, the primary reason is that I would not forgive myself for moving my kids from LCS. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of the community and literally thankful daily.

The principal is a dictator and treats the upper students horribly. The expectations are extradanary and with very little reward. My kids are learning much more at LCS than they did at their previous local school. They come home excited about learning. They love the fun educational activities: Civil War reenactments, Roman days, Mark Twain days, Homer-a-thon. They are actually being taught math. The teachers are genuinely invested in the school and their students. All classes are taught by people with an education in that subject, ie, math is taught by someone with a math education. Mr. Yu is committed to making LCS the best school in the country. You can tell that they are headed that direction by the quality of the teachers and the focus they maintain on a quality education. They keep a fairly tight dress code, which is great. None of the students look like criminals. The school is small. The facilities aren t great. The parking and traffic are a mess. But there isn t a better educational option for my kids, and the quality of their education is more important to me than the quality of their prom. I highly recommend LCS for any parent who wants their child to learn. If stereotypical social experiences are what you value most in your child s school, LCS is probably not the best option for you.

I have had many experiences with this school on levels of education, electives and administration. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND no one attend this institution. The leadership is illusive, wrongly biased and impossible to work with. The middle and upper school programs try to exceed district standards, but lack the ability to lead well with all students. If you have a struggling learner ON ANY LEVEL do not attempt this school. I found this to be a school not ment for any child.
