I have been so happy with the education my child has received at Blevins. I went in not having a strong sense of the school and a bit concerned that maybe the education wouldn't be challenging enough for our child because they are gift and talented in literacy and math. We have been thrilled with the teachers, the GT program, and our child's academic growth. The sixth grade accelerated math program was wonderful. The teacher has been at the school for over two decades and has her masters in GT. She is WONDERFUL. Beyond that our child has thrived socially and has enjoyed engaging in sports. The parent involvement is strong. We LOVE LOVE LOVE being at a neighborhood school for the ease of community connection. We often do dining night outs with our neighbors and love the "Bruin Bash" that Blevins does every year. We are pleasantly surprised by how wonderful our experience has been!

Blevins is an amazing neighborhood school. I’ve had three children go through Blevins, and my respect for the school and what they are committed to accomplishing for each and every student has only grown. Blevins is not flashy. But it’s got something way more important – staff and a whole school full of teachers that are welcoming, positive, dedicated, and super capable. They truly care about every single kid, every single day (and they say Good Morning to many of them by name every morning!). Our new principal and assistant principals provide the kind of leadership, smart and supportive decision-making, enthusiasm, and creativity that is refreshing and amazing to watch. They have brought new energy and ideas to the school and made fantastic positive changes in a really short period of time. Blevins’ WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) program teaches students so much about how to support each other and foster a positive and accepting environment for everyone. Blevins’ host of after school clubs are truly fun - including everything from art to esports and providing kids the chance to create their own clubs and projects together. Because the school isn’t huge, our sports teams aren’t always at the top of the district, but we’re competitive, every kid is encouraged to participate, and the students learn new skills, work hard, and support their teammates like crazy. With the challenges of the last school year, when the district considered making big changes in the district, Blevins was unerring in their positivity and commitment to supporting a great education for every single student not just in our school, but in all schools in the district. We are lucky to have this gem of a plucky neighborhood school and its amazing teachers and staff.

We have had two students at Blevins, (one has gone on to high school and one is a current Blevins student). We have seen the dramatic improvement at Blevins with the current administration. We’ve been pleased with the teachers and the overall school environment. It’s a positive community. The teachers found ways to encourage the talents of each of my children. The counselors and teachers have been very sensitive and supportive of the particular needs of my children.

I have lived and worked in this community and the school district for 30+ years, and I have seen the rise and fall of "school reputations" throughout those years. It's easy to assume that a "new and flashy" school is the best place to put your kids but, below the surface, all schools have their successes and challenges and sometimes the "flashy" schools are better at hiding those challenges. I have been DELIGHTED by our experience at Blevins, and I feel like it is a hidden gem in our community. Yes, they are overcoming a "bad reputation" from many years and many administrations ago, leading to many of the neighborhood families in past years "choicing" into other schools, but I would highly recommend you do not judge this school by its past. Step inside the building and you will find a diverse student body that represents different SES and cultural demographics as well as a team of dedicated and caring professional educators, counselors, administrators, and support staff. I volunteer once a week in the schools - wanting to experience the environment where my children spend their days - and I have had only positive interactions with the adults and the students I've encountered.
This school is terrific - especially for those who can see past the image of an older building (but one of the few with A/C on those hot Fall days!) and look at the surrounding environment (sweet view of the foothills) and community of families dedicated to preserving and transforming neighborhood schools. Blevins has transformed itself - thanks to the work of a dedicated admin, staff, and community - and deserves to be looked at with fresh eyes! We're grateful to have Blevins as our neighborhood school and choiced our kids back into it after two previous years in district charter/choice schools.

Blevins has been a wonderful space for my 6th grader. She walks to school and enjoys the classes she takes, mostly due to the remarkable teachers. She has enjoyed the other students and the activities she has gotten involved in as well. I do have an older child who attended several years ago during virtual learning (which was difficult all around) and Blevins is such a different environment now. I continue to recommend Blevins to my friends as their elementary-age kiddos prepare to make the transition to the next level. We look forward to our next two years! Thank you Blevins for being an engaging, safe, and fun space to learn and grow.

Principal Joe Zappa has excelled at bringing stability to the Blevins community, bringing high academic standards and pride to Blevins both in its staff and students. The team of faculty and staff at Blevins are inspired to make Blevins the best school in Fort Collins, caring for and engaging with our students, and actively supporting our community.

The faculty and staff work as an amazing team, wholly dedicated to the students and their education. Their commitment to our student's middle school experience is what continues to make Blevins the best in Fort Collins.

Over the past three years, I have enjoyed watching my student advance her education and grow. Blevins has done an excellent job of preparing her for high school. I have always had meaningful conversations with her teachers who are always available and eager to listen and support. I am looking forward to three more years of Blevins with my son.

I believe in Blevins.

Project Based Learning! Love this style of learning. Hands on learning. They brought back "home economics". My child learned how to sew and cook in 6th grade. Class size's are smaller than other flashy jr. highs in the area. After school programs other than just sports. She loves the small community vibe of the school. Not just another head lost in the crowds. The staff at Blevins engages each and every student as if the child was there own.

My son, who is Autistic and has ADHD has been at Blevins for 1.5 years. Teachers, counselors and the special education team have mentioned many times how much they love my child, and how much he makes their days. Isn't that what you want from the school, for them to love your child as much as you do? To really see just how special they are. He really struggles, but they have gone above and beyond to come up with creative solutions to best help in the areas he really needs to grow in. I am so happy for my son to be at Blevins and really can't imagine him anywhere else.

Worst by far. Questions unanswered. Go there and you are talking to vice principal and in middle of conversation she walks away to deal with a very angry upset parent. Excuse me I was there first. My grandson says the class is the worst and that kids are disruptive. If they can’t control the class they will be disruptive. I don’t care that they are only a week in it is by far the worst and they need to get their act together.

My son liked this school overall and liked his teachers. We found the school environment to be inviting and the teachers do a good job at balancing setting expectations and holding kids accountable and being caring and willing to work with kids that need individualized attention or approach. He spent all three years there, was in the GT program and didn;t report any major issues like bullying.

Student:teacher ratio seems too high for the teachers to cope. Teachers lose track of homework once it's turned in, a problem many parents have noted. Can't say I blame the teachers too much as they're responsible for too many students. Still, it's tough trying to teach your kid to be organized when the teachers aren't providing a very good example.
