From what I've heard from my students, who attend as well as close by families and friends, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes here. This district is known to hide major incidents, as they don't want anyone to know what is actually going on. Administration is not up to far, from many locals perspectives ( the principal, not the vice) the principal is less than personable, and seems to think she is something else. Chasing the very best teachers in Cape district to other schools. She needs to go! She seems miserable, and her face shows....

I've watched since one of my children started at Beacon last year, kids being bullied, not just by students but by teachers as well. My daughter was never personally bothered, but witnessed many incidents of disrespectful interactions started by rude comments from teachers about clothing, hair color or telling kids that are being bullied, and came to them for help and support only to be told, what they are going through isn't that bad and neither were the insults. Now on day two of this year, on a day with high heat index warnings, enough to cancel some sports practices at this very school, my son's gym teacher has the nerve to tell his students that he doesn't care if they are thirsty because once class is over they are no longer his problem, also just as a side note, the water fountains that were contaminated by the end of last year are either not fixed yet or broken, as all fountains on this record hot day were off and out of order the entire time the kids were at school today. The safety and security at this school is a joke and every example I've heard from many, many parents, it comes across as if this school allows it's more affluent students treat it's lower income students like garbage, and the teachers seem to follow those children's examples and make excuses for the bad behavior. This is unacceptable from any school.

My overall experience of cape henlopen high school has been nothing but miserable and useless. The teachers, principals only care about theirselves and how their school does how the students do. It’s not a good high school to go to if you want to pursue a career or go to college.

I’m an 11th grader in the school and what I say is horrible. The teachers can be rude to disrespectful often not caring about the kids they teach. The school cares more about its image then mental health. My friend has been bullied for 3 years in this school often being told to kill them selves. No matter how many times their mother complained to the staff nothing has been done

Our children enjoy a happy and challenging educational experience at this beautiful school. The administration, teachers, and staff have always provided the tools necessary for our children to be successful. We are very appreciative of the high quality of education they provide and the extracurricular activities and sports that Cape Henlopen High School offers. I recommend this school for any family that lives in the nearby areas and who come to live from other places.

Cape navigated a difficult year throughout COVID and overcame numerous challenges to ensure all students' needs were being met. Our children's experience at Cape has been exceptional - not only were they encouraged to succeed academically and creatively, but they were also challenged to seriously consider and prepare for their path beyond high school. So many students graduate unsure of what they want to do. Cape provides opportunities for students to explore their interests through internships, programs, and other partnerships both inside and outside of the school. This is a fantastic institution with incredibly caring and innovative staff. We highly recommend Cape to all our friends with children nearing high school age. (The stunning campus and sporting facilities are a huge bonus.)

This school prioritizes superficial image before any other metric of integrity. The school is physically beautiful yet within you will be so unlucky as to find a depraved apathy of administrators, a faculty without motivation, and students who have never had curiosity inspired within them. If this school could arrive at fostering some semblance of intellectual creativity amongst students who didn't have that encouragement at home, then maybe perhaps it could pass for a successful educational institution. But until then, it will be a triumph of regional athletic prioritization, deemphasis of legitimate academic success, and a real lack of genuine interest in encouraging beneficial student outcomes.

The teachers, staff, and administration have always provided the tools and encouragement necessary for our kids to succeed. Brian Donahue and his caring, talented staff have made this lovely facility a standard of excellence without peer on the lower eastern shore. Their hard work, "students first" attitude, and compassion make it a comfortable environment for all students motivated to learn from the capable and well credentialed staff. Bravo and thank you!

Most of the reviews here are years old! This is a great school with wonderful teachers, latest technology, a mix of socioeconomic students with most of them with "their head in the game". It is a safe wonderful environment with so many class and career choices. It has top rated sports teams, music groups, theatre, foreign languages, animal husbandry, green houses in additiona to the regular normal classes. A school you can be proud to say belongs to our community! Come check out all the schools! You will be delighted
