One of the biggest frustrations I have with this school is the priorities. From a parent’s perspective, it sometimes feels like the school is more focused on small things and enforcing rules that don’t have much impact, while more important issues affecting students are not given the same urgency or attention. Every morning at drop off you see the obsession these school educators have towards the students. The obsession to close gate at exactly 9:29.59 seconds is obsurd to me, instead of motivating and showing them support they just seem to enjoy frustration and loving closing that gate even though they see the students walking towards it. There are real concerns that deserve to be addressed, and it can be extremely frustrating to see so much energy put into things that feel minor while bigger problems seem to be overlooked. School should be about creating a safe, supportive environment where students can learn and parents feel heard. First day of school this year a high schooler walked in as middle school student and made a threat. Yet the gate closing in students faces at 9:29.59 seconds is always their number one priority. Last year a student took edibles and gave it to another student which ended up in the hospital and he still was allowed back. Many agressive students who constantly fight and pick at students are still let back. I truly hope the administration takes a closer look at what deserves their attention and starts prioritizing the issues that actually affect students and their well being.

Ms. Velez has completely lost focus on what actually matters as a principal. Instead of addressing the serious issues happening at this school — constant bullying, students bringing drugs, THC vapes, nicotine, and even weapons onto campus — she seems far more concerned about dress code violations and students wearing Crocs. Kids are getting doors shut on them for being one minute late while real safety and behavioral problems continue to get ignored.

Students should feel safe and supported at school, but the priorities here feel completely backwards. A principal’s job is to create a healthy environment for students to learn in, not obsess over minor dress code issues while much bigger problems are happening every day. The administration needs to start listening to students and parents and focus on the actual issues affecting the school.

If you have a choice, don’t send your kids here.

Please if you have a choice do not send your child here. Constant fights several students ended up in the hospital this year. Admin making kids were dirty clothes as a punishment for dress code and when kids mention that it smells they says it’s because they don’t clean the clothes on purpose as a punishment. Teachers never update the grades. Drugs were given to a child this year by another student as a bullying tactic and ended up hospitalized. The principal doesn’t care and when you report something she does not keep it anonymous. Also the teachers are known to voice there political options and talk to students about their personal lives. From the admin to the students this is not a safe place for your child ! If I could pull mine out of this school I would.

Be very careful, tengan cuidado con esta escuela. Fights everyday! I know that administration and teachers are not at fault, but students literally say why go tell if they will not do nothing about it. They are more worried about kids wearing crocs, phones being visible or closing the gate exactly at 9:30. Also during lunch they treat the kids like prisoners can’t move or speak, when it’s they’re free time!! They think that by doing that it does something. Crazy, if they would put that much dedication in the students when they speak up about something. Padilla they can talk to her but shows lack of empathy. Her school and its out of control every day. I have never came upon a school this bad. Teachers are just there to teach also not to even worry about what goes on with the children. This school is not what I expected, everyday you worry if you’re child will be targeted. If you have the option and want the best for your child take them somewhere else.

NEVER PUT YOUR CHILD IN THIS SCHOOL

I am extremely dissatisfied with how the principal Mrs Padilla at this School handled an incident involving my daughter and another student. My daughter was involved in a fight with another girl, and despite the circumstances, she was the only one who faced serious consequences. Not only was my daughter suspended, but she was also called into a meeting with the district, while the other student was not held accountable at all even though I showed proof where the other girl was the one causing problems.
What’s even more troubling is the lack of transparency throughout the entire process. We were given very little information about what happened, or why the other student was not punished in any way. It feels as though my daughter was unfairly singled out, and the situation was handled in a way that was not only unjust but also damaging to her reputation and her grades.
The lack of fairness and accountability is concerning, and I hope the school and the district reconsiders how they handle these types of situations in the future. Every student deserves to be treated equally, and it’s essential that both sides of any conflict be given proper attention and support.

The principal there is the worst he takes phones during lunch likes it's our break time and our property they can't just take our stuff like that, and the administration is bad too they don't care if people have problems or get into violence. my friend had this bully who hit her, and they did nothing about it and don't even get me started on the food one time at lunch i saw ants in the food and I couldn't even drink the milk because it was spoiled and rotten it was chunky. personally, me I would not put your child in this school trust me if you do you will regret it.

I went to school here and it was more like a prison than a place to be educated. Kept my head down, didn’t make eye contact, expected no help from people in positions of authority. Fights every day, chaos in classrooms, special bus schedules to prevent gangs from fighting after school. That place should be demolished.

Teachers and Administrators really have the best interest of the students in mind. Although there are rumors and misconceptions about this school, I am confident that my child has multiple teachers that they can reach out to when in need. The sports and clubs offered to students need work.

By all the reviews I've seen so far i don't thing i want to send my child there but i have to because that is the closest school to my house so I hope my child has a good year

Posted: August 12, 2013

Pierce is terrible all and all. Wish we could afford a private school. teachers are mean to the children. Administration is rude and patronizing to parents.

Posted: August 8, 2013

This school is one of the worst schools my daughter has been to.I dont recommend it to any parents. Hate this school, its very ghetto.

Posted: February 6, 2013

My daughter attends Pierce and this school is horrible if it's not being locked down for one reason or another, there is always an issue with a teacher or office staff, she will not be attending next year Parents Be Ware!!!!!!!

Posted: August 14, 2012

If I could give no stars I would. The majority of the students that attend this school are spanish, not saying thats a problem . My son is African American and it seemed as if he has a target on his forehead. I am so happy he will be leaving this school headed to high school. The teachers don't care about the students and have no respect or interactions with the parents.

This review is based off of when I attended several years back. 6th grade, so it was the '06-'07 year. It seems things have changed, but when I attended, all teachers I had were very helpful and supportive. It is there that I became one of the four students in Math League. The classes were clean, neat and orderly. The peers were just like any other school's. The principal and other staff were very nice. The courses were not under planned. Meaning we learned something new every day. They were taught quite thoroughly and clear. The extra curricular programs were also quite interesting as well. I enjoyed this school. It may not be the same any more, but I will keep my good memories.

My Child has been picked on the bus and the at physical education! This school is not fair in discipline practices! Like if more then one student gangs up on him it seems that he gets punished and not the others!

Posted: March 28, 2012

Pierce is not such a great school. The only reason my son goes there is because I missed the deadline for choice, but he is soon transferring to a charter school and he & I couldn't be happier. We have had quite a few issues with bullying, & even a physical attack, & I am not happy with the school's response.
