Its a great school that offers incredible opportunities. The competition between kids and the subsequent environment is emotionally demanding. Ive had nothing but bad experiences communicating with the office, other than that its a nice school.

Honestly one of the best schools out there! I recommend this to any child! Now I have 2 children on their way to Harvard, and one to MIT! Such a proud parent and this school was such a good help for my children's futures!

Administration has clear control and positive effectiveness in the students education. They are interested in helping your child achieve not fail so they help them find their balance without compromising their learning capability. If Any bullying occurs it is quickly resolved and dissolved.
Posted: April 3, 2017
A cooperative student body leads to very few instances of bullying, even with the range of grades 6-12.
Posted: April 3, 2017
Although mostly an advanced curriculum, there are some special needs students that are immersed in classes, along with ELL students too.

Great atmosphere for learning. Highschool kids mix with middle school kids without problems, and push one another to excel.
Posted: April 3, 2017
Most teachers are certified to teach both middle and highschool classes, so are able to teach advanced curriculum to grades 6-8 and a wide range of highschool courses.

A wonderful school! Varied programs for STEM learning, many clubs & activities, and most importantly an administration and teachers that care about learning.

Mostly a responsible HW policy, but a few teachers do go overboard with HW amounts.

Best school in area & one of top schools in Dade/FL. Specially focused on math & science, but robust offerings in electives, clubs, and even sports for grades 6-8

The school has an advanced curriculum. It is designed for high achieving students since only advanced/honors level courses are offered. That is the way the curriculum was designed by the district. However, there are students with special needs who attend if they are able to take the higher level classes. There is an amazing special education teacher who supports students in any way she can.

I have not heard or seen any cases of bullying happening at this school. The students are courteous, smart kids and the school gets their students involved in all the activities. No issues seen.
Posted: December 9, 2016
I don't have enough information on this to accurately rate but based on everything else I've seen and experienced at this school, I am sure that they would definitely effectively support all kinds of students.
Posted: December 9, 2016
The staff and administration is efficient, professional and most importantly courteous. The principal and AP are approachable and visible, and involved in all aspects of the day-to-day.
Posted: December 9, 2016
The school promotes service and donations for things like (this year) collecting items for Haiti after a hurricane, getting their students to get involved in community service, and having students volunteer for in-school events like Hispanic Heritage luncheons and the Magnet Showcase for incoming students and parents.

All teachers my child has had so far are very good and offer work that's interesting and engaging.
Posted: December 9, 2016
Homework is manageable and within the district guidelines. There are 8 periods, in block schedule (EVEN-ODD) and much of the work is done in-class with a manageable amount of homework sent home. Projects are reasonable so far and have not extended into the student's time off for holidays. Lots of the work so far is digital and submitted electronically.

This school is hands-on learning for Science, Technology and Mathematics. Many of the teachers are young and energetic and engage the students' interest by having them "do more" instead of sit through boring lectures and note-taking, The administration and the principal are super involved and strive to make it a positive learning experience. In today's times where smart kids are stifled by the amount of old-school teaching and the burden of excessive busy work sent home, this school is a blessing. I don't have enough good things to say in the 4 short months my child has been here and I'm so happy we made this our school of choice.

They only choose kids with a specific grade levels in able to make it in the school so of course you will find great behaved kids and no fights. However, the school has no clue on half of what they are doing. It seems as if the administration is still trying to figure things out. The gifted science department is run by a couple that overwhelms kids with busy work and time consuming homework that doesn't teach kids just bores them and takes away their desire to learn. At some point they just do things to do it, but their brain doesn't have the interest nor desire for learning with so much busy work. My son had homework till 2-3 am at times. My son was also always tired with the overwhelming huge load of homework. At first I liked the idea since I like him to learn and study a lot, but the problem was that he wasn't learning anything. Though he is typically an A student. I would constantly ask him what he learned and his response was always nothing. I also noticed the score of the test taken for his science class before the course and at the end of the course and there was no improvement. Maybe I wouldn't have cared if he wasn't having so much sleepless nights doing HW, but I was expecting better with that load of HW... It was crucial for him to leave the school. Therefore, I applied to several schools. However, he didn't make it in the lottery for any of the schools I applied. Seeing that I didn't have another option my desperation left me to do homeschool as the only option at that moment. Thank God I did. It has being the best thing that happened to my son! He is more interested in learning and loves school. Yes, even his enthusiasm for school has changed. By November my son will be elegible to start a dual enrollment program, taking both high school level and college credits thanks to his hard work and dedication by advancing and learning without busy work. He couldn't reach that far in his potential as a 7th grader had he remained there wasting his time. God truly works in mysterious ways and I can honestly say that he is investing his time right and his learning capacity is reaching to its peak without the stress and on his own pace.... Personally for me, my son's education is too important to be wasted somewhere that doesn't teach him. His time is also an essence in able for him to accomplish his goals so for me this wasn't the place to see him grow.

My son is currently attending Jose Marti-Mast (6th grade) and the academic level is outstanding . During the 3rd day of school there was an incident with a kid pulling my son's chair so I wrote an e-mail, the principal answer it the same day and the next day I received a phone call from him and the incident was resolved immediately. I am very happy with the school, the administration, teachers and the academic level, making me happy to drive every day 19 miles from home to school. I highly recommend the school.

Negative work environment, both AP administration are completely unprofessional and everyone is aware of it. They do not have a problem creating conflicts bad mouthing teacher, against parents and worst, student. I will conclude the behavior will continue since the Principal don't come out of his office to care. He has to backpedal his decisions and he is clueless. He sits in his desk and sends articles to teachers all day and that is pretty much it, if your looking for an active principal he is not it. He is definitely the tail and not the head to his teachers and students. As per teachers there is a hand full of incredible teachers that are there for talent and not brown nosesing the AP. high school kids should RUN to a real HS zero electives and no extra accreditation. School is old but clean kids are very nice, no fights. Revamp administration and the school could have a chance plus make many hard working teacher very happy.

I love Jose Marti it is an awesome school if you have a problem the asst principals are also available to help you. I am so glad I made the choice to have my son attend this school

Hello I currently attend Jose Marti Mast Academy as a student and I have to say that when you first start taking courses here you think it's really hard but after a while you get adjusted to the way they teach. I think this is because teachers here are great and make teaching fun and interesting. The only thing that is bad about this school is that we don't have an indoor gym which they say is because of the lack of students.

Even though our family lives aprox 12 miles south of this school ,in the city of Doral,Fl. And the fact that since this kind of magnet school does not offer school bus service , I can assure you that I do not regret having taking the desicion of taking my son to this school , the quality and level of education is at a very high scale, kids will learn and the best part is that is a school designed to get your kids ready to go to a top University ( any of the top US 50) , we as parent are very happy and proud to have our son going to this school, no doubt that he is getting ready to be sucessfull and prepareed for later in life .....

As a parent if I can give 1 recommendation, if your child is strong in Math and Science this is the place to be. I recommend you do not send your child to fail if he or she doesn't like these subjects. Another Positive aspect is the open door policy of the administrators and office staff, they will address your concerns immediately however; the principle is best contacted my email and has little to NO interaction with students. I would like to see him bond more with high school students which, would inspire his respect and not just sit behind his computer all day. (Note: parents and studnts get told he is a shy man?!?). I see him every day at dismissal and he never said hi to parents or his students. Regarding teachers the math department is INCREDIBLE. Best of all kids at this school are great.. BTW the yearbook at this school needs serious improvement its like an elementary. It was not worth my grandsons money. also, sometimes Science dept goes HW crazy.

The school was recently converted from a regular middle school to a MAST academy 6-12. The majority of the teachers are not qualified to teach high school. The administration is still trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. I don't like that 6 and 7 graders are mixed with high school students during different times of the school day. Ex: breakfast. Since the number of students in the upper grades are so small, they do not have choices regarding class options. The administration is not very teacher friendly and many teachers left before the 2013-2014 school year. One of their biggest departments lost almost half of their teachers, all very experienced and good teachers. The teachers do not get the support needed from the administration. Many students also left because the school does not provide your typical high school experience. The school building itself, is old and there are hardly any windows...looks more like a prison than a school. I recommend putting your child in another school. A review below stated that their child was taking Algebra in 7th grade, but most schools are doing that if your child is in advance classes. It really depends on the child.

Hi, I need advice if this school is better or Mater Academy for High School grades 9 and 10?
Posted: May 15, 2013
100% Magnet School + Grades 6 through 12 + MAST (Math, Science, Technology) Academy + Great teachers and dedicated staff = Serious students interested in learning and achieving success = No drugs or bullying or mischief = GREAT SCHOOL
Posted: April 29, 2013
I took a tour of the school last January. The administration was friendly and open about their school. They are very proud of their school and I can see why. The students were engaged in their work and look content. The assistant principal explained the school is a MAST academy school. i.e. Math and Science and Technology based school. The entire school is a magnet school. The classes starting from 6th through 12th start at the advanced level. Like all Magnet schools the students have to maintain a high average with excellent conduct grades. I had an opportunity to visit the science lab classroom and the research classroom. I got an overview of the classes from the teachers. They were friendly and relaxed. I'm looking forward to having my grandson going to Jose Marti Mast Academy. He was one of the lucky ones that was selected, by lottery, to go.

So far, I have been in this school for one year, and the school academically challenges you a lot by the amazing teachers that know how to connect with the students, and how friendly the staff are. This school has been wonderful for me because of its science and mathematics program. A few reviews below me, you will see a person stating that they are struggling in college because of this school when it has only been around for a couple of years. Overall, this school challenges you academically and sends you of with a great high school experience where all of the staff knows you and so do all of your peers. There is also no bullying in the school allowed by no means and if you notice, both of the bad reviews were posted on the exact same date. It seems fairly suspicious to me. I hope for everyone to have as great experience in this school as me.

This school rocks. On a daily basis, we challenge mathematics, science. And at the same time, the school is determined to get students to college. Everyone is part of the family and everyone knows each other, by far one of the best schools there are during these difficult economic times.

This school is amazing. Has the best education system I ever knew. Really friendly environment and had a great time there. Where learning means more doing, that's the power of MAST!

I really like this school. Some kids are really nice. I met up with the staff and really enjoyed it. My daughter is in 7th Grade and she loves it there. She is already taking Algebra 1 on her 7th Grade year because of this school.

This school is by far the worst school ever. My child had attended Pace High, but due to work issues, it was a necessity to move, therefore i registered my child in Mast. Unfortunately, my child had been bullied on an everyday basis. Also, this school didn't provide a great learning experience; nothing was taught. It was crucial to return to Pace.

I've never detested a school so much in my life. I didn't learn not one thing, now I'm struggling in College. Thanks a lot Mast.
