Canterbury School of Florida - Hough Campus

I have 2 children enrolled at Canterbury School. I could not be happier with the learning progression I have seen so far with my children. Both kids started in the PK3 program and are now in Kindergarten and 2nd grade. The teachers really take the time to build a nurturing relationship with each individual child thus ensuring all students are learning within their capabilities. Furthermore, the Hough Campus culture is so warm and welcoming. When we first moved to St Pete 5 years ago, I did not know a sole as we lived overseas for quite a long time. Now I have made forever friends with many of the parents and have become involved (through volunteerism) with the school in ways I never thought was possible.

What further attracts me further to Canterbury is its emphasis on Character Education. I find it very important (not only at home) but also at school to encourage children to want to be positive influencers within their community. The students I see at both Hough and Knowlton campus really exemplify this.

That said, I highly recommend any parent looking for a school that offers the best in academics and a true sense of community look into Canterbury School.

This place is amazing. The preschool and elementary school experience is incredible for the child. The children are involved in learning through so many different experiences, like the Steam Garden and Marine Studies, which trigger the joy of learning from the very beginning of their education. The community is very welcoming and we found our home within it. This community is not only for the children, but the whole family, and we are forever thankful we chose Canterbury.

Canterbury has provided an amazing environment for my children to excel in learning. They have teachers that truly care about each child and provide opportunities for each child to excel.

The teacher assign homework that does not overload them at a young age.

Not only are the teachers effective at educating their students but they also take the time to make sure they grasp concepts and work with parents to make sure they are included in the process.

I love that students sing the honor code every morning, which reinforces concepts like having a positive attitude, being a person who has integrity and values honesty.

The small environment makes it hard for social issues to go unnoticed. I appreciate that the teachers try to help students work through their issues instead and learn from them at a young age without simply putting a bandaid on it. The focus on character education along with academics is exactly what our family was looking for when we found Canterbury.

Finding Canterbury came at the perfect time for our family. The community-focused environment gave us the support we needed being new to the area. I love that my kids enjoy homework. They are even disappointed when the school is closed for holidays. The teachers have shown such care and consideration to our children every year that we have been there. We plan to stay through 12th grade.
