I was bullied and harassed at this school for having autism, I dread the day I go here everyday, the school didn't help me from bullying and watched it happened, the teachers told lies to my mom that I was a bad student, I only had one teacher that actually cared about my existence, the special education was one way ticket to hell, I learned NOTHING from this school, I was harassed by the boys and they brushed it off, I do not recommend this god forsaken school

Good school for the programs, however, the students zoned to go to the school have some behaviour problems. Mostly all great teachers, however not all of them are perfect.

i am currently in this school, right now, writing a review in my journalism class. All teachers are very nice and understandable, the principal is included.
I believe that I will spend another year in this school, there is only 2 stairs, which is good, I got lost 1 time only. The cafeteria is very big, there is 5 rows, and 3 lines to get food. Every teacher makes sure that all students have food, thank you. Definitely going in this school for another year.

My son is was a honor student here and I feel that his time here was valuable and helpful in preparing him for high school. He has made friends here that have developed into friendships that carried into young adulthood. Wonderful to see teachers and assistants that enjoy teaching, it does make a difference

My child deshon Roberts was a honor student before he went to john hopkins now the 6th principal let my son be bullying and she told another school that he was a bad child don't recommend sending no honor roll student there

My daughter has attended JHOP for the last two years when the new principal also joined. Under his leadership, the school is absolutely amazing. The wealth of options (academic and elective), the dedicated engaged faculty, an enthusiastic student body - the experience is better than any I could have imagined. Everyone should go here!

My daughter has been apart of the Visual Arts Magnet program at JHOP for the last 3 years. We are completely blessed to have such a wonderful opportunity to allow our daughter to heighten her love of the arts. From her teachers to the principle staff, all are determined to make JHOP a great environment.

I have 2 children that attend JHOP, and if you child is not in a magnet program for the arts forgot it, my son was beat up by older child, it was swept under the table as boys will be boys my daughter was gropped on several occasions this also was swept under the table again "boys will be boys" this school has an outstanding amount of children that are already fellons and young girls that are pregnant, I have raised to other kids in the Dade CO school district and never had a problem ,JHop is a breading ground for juvenile delinquents.

This school has been plagued with issues from as far back as the 80s when it was called 16th st middle, if we didn't have transportation issues my kids would of never went here. Thankfully my kids get good grades and have always had good conduct because that's how they have been raised, I'm sorry to say that the area this school is located in is the main reason this school has major problems with kids having discipline problems and lack of respect for staff and other kids. Fights are a daily occurance, physical and sexual assaults are common and mostly swept under the rug. Anyone can search news articles and read the many issues this school has had. Many kids already have felony convictions, some are even pregnant. The principal claims horse playing or rough housing is what it is and he has never returned my calls in the 5 years that my kids have attended so far. When you have a school in a high crime area where many if the kids are growing up without positive guidance it is bound to trickle into the school environment.

The magnet enrichment program at John Hopkins is fantastic, with creative teachers guiding extremely talented young people through the beginning and intermediate stages of their magnet focus. Magnet students are very caring and supportive of each other, which is so refreshing! Most JHop kids will progress onto Gibbs High School, so they are constantly learning more advanced technical and musical skills from their former classmates as well. We are honored to be a part of this vital outreach for the creative arts in this county, and support Mr. Robert Florio, our dedicated Vice President (and excellent drummer) as he grows the magnet program.

I am a parent of a child in the Magnet Arts programs at John Hopkins. The program there is fantastic & thriving under teachers, admin & volunteers who care & it shows. These kids are some of the most talented I've ever seen & they are right here in St. Pete. This place is a goldmine & home of some of the best academics too. Stem programs, Tasp, history & many other before/after school extracurriculars. I urge everyone reading this to call the school & arrange a tour especially if you are a parent of a child interested in the Arts or a patron of the arts. You will be impressed & it's free if you are a Pinellas County School Zone resident. The same great education you would get at a private tuition Performing Arts School. Keep up the great work John Hopkins Magnet Program! Always a need more parent volunteers!!! Lets keep these kids shining!

John Hopkins is good school, the magnet programs are improving and getting better under the new leadership. There are many positive well rounded students coming out of the school. Just ask Giibb high school the feeder school for John Hopkins. Safety of your child is not a problem. My daughter is in 8th grade now and has not had any problems. Yes, there are things like stealing lunches and middle school antics. I can only speak to the arts programs and the teachers are passionate about what they are teaching. We wanted the drama project and thought there would be risk going in, but her experience has been a positive one.

The magnet program for guitar and art sounded so great...and could be if it weren't at John Hopkins. The bullying against the middle class was so tremendous, I never thought kids would be that bad at that age. Tripping in the hall, using push-pins as weapons, name-calling, stealing of food right out from under your child's nose. The negatives outweighed the positives by a landslide. The classrooms sounded like circuses. I had to pay a tutor to teach my 7th grader math because his elderly teacher couldn't control her students.The teachers cared but the problems there were so much larger than they could rectify. I do not recommend.

John hopkins is terrible i would never put my child there in the future wow all i can say is wow iI used to JHOP 2012-2013 school year every thing was good to this new magnet AP came it turned too a nightmare. PLEASE do not go to the school the teachers mess up your grades. PLus now im in 7th grade its wonderful at my new school. I really enjoyed it there but it was to much

I have sent two kids to this school for the magnet programs. The principal here is top notch. The teachers are very good, especially Miss Makalala and Miss Smith!! If your child can get one of those two teachers, you will have a wonderful experience!!

I have gone to John Hopkins (piano program- fine arts) for all three years and now I am at St. Pete. High school. To me, my years at Jhop were probably the best years I have had so far. The school is wonderful, if you just ignore the rough part, and the fine arts program is absolutely amazing. I have so many memories and good things to say about the teachers at John Hopkins. My 8th grade class didn't even want to go to a different school when the year was over with.

What has happened to the Drama magnet program? It was on the rebound of greatness with the productions of "Willy Wonka" and "Grease". The teacher changes have not helped to produce more opportunities in learning for the students. I would hope that the program is evaluated and a stimulating direction for students is put into place. Trojan Pride has not come back for my children.
