HORRIBLE SCHOOL DO NOT GO!!!!!!! hate this school. People get referrals for stuff they did not do i don't know why, no electrictronics allowed at all times!! My parents called because my grandpa just DIED and I told the school and because I denied to stop being on my phone i got SUSPENDED!!!!!! NEVER GO HERE. ONLY IF YOU WANT YOUR MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE TO BE HORRIBLE!!!!! I tried to tell one of the teachers that they did something wrong BECAUSE I HAD TO PAY THEM 300$ FOR SOMETHING I DONT KNOW HAPPENED!!!! AND SHE SAID NOT MY PROBLEM I DONT CARE!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY HATE AND I MEAN HATE THIS SCHOOL

this school is by far the worst school I've ever seen. I highly recommend not settling for less. i sincerely regret putting my child into this school, as he is constantly talking about the fights and abuse endured from other students.

This school went from good to bad. I did a previous review about my son being bullied at this school. I reached out to district about the situation now my child has been a target. He was making good grades, not getting into trouble. Now the teacher writing referrals on him giving him bad grade accusing him of acting out in class. He had a substitute teacher for a while, because the teachers do not want to work there. There are so many changes within the school fighting for etc. Find your child another school.

I entered this school again a short time ago, I come from another country, therefore another language, but since I arrived at that school I have made many friends and the teachers help me so that I do not feel bad, since I arrived I have never seen a person bothering another or a teacher doing something bad or anything bad, also the education is very good in my opinion and I don't think I want to leave that school. So fathers and mothers who are seeing this message, if you are going to enroll your son or daughter in this school, I highly recommend it and if you are from another country like me, don't worry, they will attend you like at home.

Not a good school. My son gets bullied in the hallways. Even though, it's been reported, the school tends to dismiss these acts as bullying.
They tell me that when other kids try to pull down my sons' pants in the hallway, it's not bullying? I'm not quite sure what the issue is at this school, if there is disorganization, or a lack of student guidance.

Kids are given detention when they lose their badge, losing a badge is accidental and it's not on purpose. I disagree with this rule. We need to give the students, our kids, a chance to feel they can do better before giving them detention. I think its cruel, no mercy.

My son is now getting F's at this school, he never got an F while in elementary, he looks sad in the mornings before going.
He told me, he wants to go back to his elementary school.
I hope other parents pay attention to these reviews and reconsider other middle schools who might offer a better environment for their kids.
There is the school choice option, where parents can send their kids to other middle schools. For me the other option would have been Apollo middle school however I was advised this school has issues with kids fighting and bullying as well. I told my son, make sure you pass to move out of Driftwood Middle School soon.

I hate this school everyone bully's me and my friend for no reason one time a kid broke my friends phone case and he wrote a bad hate massage about him saying he pulls peoples hair but he never did that. Thanks God he move to a new school cause driftwood is not a school its a prison. And the teachers are dumb as a rock because he says we were made from fish. Oh and also students on the bikes are the worst. One time a student was doing a trick on his bike and hit my friends dads car on porpoise.

This school is good, for the most part. The fights are frequent, but they're mainly planned, and get broken up quickly. Some of the teachers aren't the best, but there are ones who are amazing and make learning fun. A few I recommend for you to try to get into are Joseph Stubbs (GEM Math, 6th and 7th, and Research), Paul Morton (Band Director), and Linda Gancitano (Happiness Studies, Volleyball, and Green Team). They have awesome electives and after-school clubs, including their Anime Art Club. They're all about health here, and the sports teams are undefeated. But every school has a downside. Teachers have cursed and used slurs, such as Jared Heller (P.E Coach). Some teachers you may want to avoid, although I may be biased because I am a student. In conclusion, this is a nice school.

Very happy with the school, my two boys are doing well. This is our second year in the school and all the teachers that they had or have are great. The PTSA is working hard to do extra activities for the kids and the staff, all my respect to the members of the PTSA board that donate their time to make the school better. I only have good comments about the staff, I had a couple of issues with my boys and they were handled fast and well.

My opinion of this school is very low. This school is overcrowded and a child that has learning differences and relies on his IEP being followed will get left behind and forgotten. His grades are dropping and I feel like there is no help or intervention from this school. Driftwood Middle is leaving my child behind.

I have met with the ESE team more than once and all they tell me is his IEP is not due to be reviewed until March. This happened September and October meanwhile he is having difficulties that are being addressed. This school put a child with a specific math learning disability in advanced math...... I mean really??? His IEP is not being followed in other classes as well. His grades are dropping and I feel like there is no help or intervention from this school

My son has been video taped on school property by another student and had disparaging remarks made about him that was then posted on you tube. They did not even try and investigate to see who the other student was.

This is my son's third and last year at Driftwood. We are so impressed with the teachers, administration and curriculum at this school. He is in Honors classes, taking high school level courses and is in the National Junior Honor Society. There are many clubs and ways to be involved in extra curricular activities. I highly recommend Driftwood.

Just do a YouTube search for Driftwood Middle fights and you can see how the kids act at this school. Discipline is non-existent at this school. Stay far away from this school if you want your kids to be safe and not bullied.

There were a bunch of fights like before they made the rule of 10 day suspension. This school isn't aware but there are gangs, drugs, and a lot of setups for fights. A bunch of 13 year old girls that are doing things they really shouldn't be doing. Some of their parents are aware and don't care. The school website should be updated more often. I have no idea where I am suppose to go tomorrow. I didn't get a call that I should report anywhere. They should also put the schedule on pinnacle, it only works on some mobiles, I'd like to know my schedule which would make tomorrow less hectic. One of my teachers last year let the class do whatever they wanted, they'd walk out no problem. They also did this escort to the bathroom thing, where they have security walk us to the bathroom, WHICH SUCKS!!!! I hate it everyone hates it, I am about to pee myself and the security is late to pick us up. Its a stupid rule and it was never a good idea. I don't know what they were thinking at all. I understand people were doing bad things but there can be security outside the 3 bathrooms, what if something actually bad happens and security are too busy watching kids pee. This school has worsened. :(((((

I am currently an eight grader in his last week at this school. My experience here was sub-par, at best. First of all, there are staff members (3) "monitoring" the cafeteria. They do a terrible job at that. Throughout my 3 years here, the staff don't notice anything (fights) unless every student starts yelling "ohhhhhh" or cheering. The school doesn't do a good job in the communication area. Each time they have been called (teacher/administrator) the individual will fail to call back after a message is left via voicemail. They decided to lock all bathrooms in the school and made an escort required for any movement during a class period. This was around 3 weeks before school ended (people like me relieve themselves on a certain schedule). When it comes to teachers, some are very good at what they do. Mr.Ogden (history) entertains students while teaching them which is very hard to come by. He does a very good job teaching us and he has to be one of my favorite teachers. I've had terrible experiences with teachers this year as well. This school is mainly focused on test scores (EOC, Finals, FCAT) The staff even tries to make you clean up during a Saturday detention.

I'm an eight grader now and what I have experienced in this school is great. The teachers are strict sometimes because their trying to teach a lesson and my school has staff members and a policeman checking the hallways to ensure no horseplay or students skipping class. Since I got to this school it was okay but it has improved a lot. There are some teachers that go over the extreme and are unfair. Also I have seen that lots of kids are applying to this school. The only thing I would change is when school ends and the walkers have to exit to the back of the school. Other than that its good also there's lots of clubs and sports. Just letting you know the coaches will remove your child out of a sport depending on their grades they don't tolerate students with low grades on a sport team even if the student is a great player. Our food is good due to our new vending machine that now sells yogurt parfait and chicken wrap. This school is great, one more thing on your first day students just need to bring 3 pencils a bookbag and paper because that day teachers will give them their school supplies list. I attend this school now, and I LOVE IT. I'm in all advanced classes, except for my math (I'm in GEM), and I have straight A's thanks to my WONDERFUL teachers. The work challenges me, so I didnt get these grades by simply going to school- trust me, I worked for them. The office staff is so nice and I find it easy to communicate any problems I have to an adult, and the problem is always taken care of immediately. The principal changed- he's much better now!! They have their annual Cardinal Festival (ITS TOMORROW!! :D) and I'm sure it will be sooo much fun. The band teacher is nice. (DONT TAKE P.E... YOULL REGRET IT.) Awesome school!!
