They withheld student schedules that still owed lunch money. Meanwhile, there’s plenty of schools in the area that get free lunch for all of their student students.. my tax dollars goes to help support these schools and for them to deny students their schedule is bull .

This school took away my sweet, smart, and energetic daughter, and I fear I won’t get her back. Every day that she came home from school, she was absolutely exhausted and numb. She passed out as soon as she got home. Shed sleep at 11 pm, wake up at 5 am. The teachers don’t make school any more enjoyable to go to. Everyday she said she didn’t want to go to school, but she knew if she didn’t that there’d be mountains of homework to catch up to. It absolutely ruined her mental health, and drained her. The teachers don’t give them enough time to learn. Every student’s pace is different. The teachers need to build bonds with the student in order for the students to be engaged and motivated to go to class. In my daughter’s case, the teachers only pay attention to who’s the most ‘popular’ or ‘talkative’. While those students get special privileges, my neurodivergent daughter would get the cold shoulder, and she’d be afraid to ask for help. Algebra 1 and 8th grade science messed her up. Even though she studied almost everyday, with no free time left on her day, those subjects were especially hard on her. At the end of the year, she’d barely talk to us. Even in her free time, she’d dissociate and stress about her grades. The teachers truly do not care about their students well beings. If they did, they’d notice my daughter crying everyday due to the mental battle in her head that she faced everyday. The school food was absolutely grotesque too. She’d send me pictures and it looks like dog food. Plus it never matches up with the menu. Please do not send your child here if you want them to be happy.

Hi! Student who is graduating very soon, meaning that I have 3 years of experience. Now, if you're looking up these reviews because you're nervous about your first year or a concerned parent, don't worry *too* much. Teachers are fine (PLEASE DO NOT ENTER ADVANCED SCIENCE FOR 8TH GRADE IF YOU ARE NOT IN ADVANCED MATH CLASSES, I may be the few exceptions but so far its been the hardest class, being the only B i've gotten so far this year.
Kids are in extreme cliches, which should be expected for a middle school except that it always felt like it was me against the entire school. If you aren't pretty/interesting/talk to people often/probably dont have mental illnesses you *will* be ostracized and talked about behind your back. Always behind your back because if they say something mean to your face you can report them. If you aren't favorited in the eyes of the teachers or have connections, probably never gonna get solved or even thought about.
Please only pick PE as an elective for one or two years, chose DIT if you haven't already so you can do fun stuff in highschool. The coaches are not horrible but they do kind of pick on kids who are usually there just to have a "free" period, and all the super athletic kids are jerks.
Warning! Not many elective choices. I recommend clubs (not like i participated in any because of my nonexistent social life hahaha) for your source of fun in school rather than electives.
So basically, if you don't have a social life of some kind or you're considered weird (hey! if you're feeling like this I recommend searching up something called "neurodivergence"! might help you find your place in this terrible world ;) you're not gonna have the worst time but it isn't fun or mentally healthy for three years. If you have some friends, general interests and look decent then yeah. Knock yourself out I guess, do whatever.
Kids may be different in the future because I feel like my wave was the last of my generation and the younger kids just...feel different.
Have fun or not, and you'll be seeing me on GreatSchools again when I review Pace High School lol. (please dont be worse)

Dress code is a big problem at school. I think it is sexist because they only dress code girls and some kids don't have any clothes in dress code and when girls get dress coded it is because we are distracting the boy, so are girls items now? No we are humans and if the dress codes stops then it not like we would not wear clothes to school. We would may wear shorts and a tank top when its hot. There should not be a dress code at this school. And I am a student at this school a 7th grade girl.

Sims Middle School has been a wonderful experience for 3 of my children. My 4th will attend next year and I am confident it will be just as good for him. The staff and faculty care about each student and want to succeed.

This is an amazing school in a wonderful family friendly community. The teachers are all great and very attentive, and the children receive an incredible education.

This school has very professional and caring teachers. Very impressed with the class offerings and style of teaching. No discipline problems or problems with bullying. Students are very welcoming and helpful to new students.

Huge religious undertone, same as Pace High. If you are atheist, Jewish, or if you belong to any other religious minority, you will be ostracised. If parents want their kids to have a Christian education, ship them over to PCA, because this does not belong in a tax-funded public school. Academically, the teachers teach solely off of the FCAT. The school is underfunded, mostly because more attention is paid to instilling the personal beliefs of the admins and the school board on the students, rather than educating them. Discipline can sometimes be a factor, and it seems that 2+2=football is the extent of the math program
