This is without a doubt the worst school i had the GREATEST displeasure of attending. Its unorganized, unprofessional, and overall no bueno. I started attending my sophomore year and hated it so so much i knew i had to graduate early and so i did. Theres not a single staff member, teacher, or administrator that knows anything; for example if u ask if the schedule was changed or where seniors go for the walkout THEY WILL SAY IDK ASK SOMEONE ELSE. They took a whole school year to upload my transcripts on their system EVEN THO I HANDED IT TO THEM BEFORE THE SCHOOL YR EVEN STARTED so i guess they threw it away or lost them i dont know, but regardless, i should not have to march down to the counselors office week after week (because they will NOT reply to any emails and if they do they will not answer whatever u email them) just for them to upload my transcripts. Furthermore the staff is extremely unprofessional, of course its not all of them, but most if them act like students themselves, especially around student athletes. And today, on my last day of school, when i was supposed to the the walk/clapout i couldnt even be a part of it bc of how organized this school is. They kept me in the pac along with a group of other seniors who WITHOUT telling us why all the while the senior walkout was taking place. It wasnt until i decided to js leave along with a handful of other seniors that i finally headed outside to the courtyard js to see that the clap out was already over. The one time i wanted to participate in this school, the one time i had any sense of school spirit and i couldnt even be a part of it because of how damn unorganized this school is. This school doesnt teach u anything about college, scholarships, how to apply for anything, nothing. And as an early graduate i didnt even get to take the SAT because the day seniors took it they said youre a senior so you cant take it but then i told them im technically a junior but wtv, when can i take it as a senior? They said seniors already took it. So that was it. No sat for me. This is the worse school to still be running and even the teachers agree.

I have been trying to get a hold of them for months and when I do get through not a thing gets done I live in a different state but my daughter gos there in my eyes they are contributing to the delinquency of a minor child because they wont do anything about my kids skipping school. This is not a good school.

It's pretty chill here, until it's not. However, it's never terrible just sometimes, they implement random rules at random points in the year. Teachers here are pretty amazing but there are of course bad apples in every school.

During my time at Mainland High School, (2015- 2019) the experience was overall great. Mainland was full of opportunities. I was in the band and it gave me a lot of fond memories. I made some friends and showed our hard work under the Friday night lights. I got to take challenging AP classes that I received college credit for. I also had the ability to go to college for free with dual enrollment. DSC was right across the street making the process easy ( I also got the attend Embry Riddle for free). The teachers really enjoy teaching and it showed. The topics I was taught follow me into my college career. Yes, there were fights but the staff was always quick to break them up. In my senior year, they started increasing the security and adding administration by the gates. All in all, I'm happy to have attended Mainland. Buc Pride Never Dies!

Mainland is an awful school. The worst decision I've made in my academic career was attending MHS for my freshman year. The wall to wall academies and block schedule do not work, and what Dr. Salerno is trying to do by being "new and innovative" is just aggravating. The bell schedule is very chaotic, and the academies here do not offer much. Even ASIM is just average, and the other eight are even poorer quality. This school can not pay for subs and half the time we sat in the theater and got marked absent for the school's mistakes. There are fights EVERY DAY, people bring guns, the hallways constantly reek of drugs, some girls are pregnant, students are very disrespectful, and there is racoon poop that is never cleaned up for weeks. I legitimatley feared for my safety every day at Mainland. The sports and band are really great, I'll give them that, and I had a few nice friends. But overall, my experience was miserable. Yes, all schools have problems, but Mainland is especially bad. I'm not just saying this to be rude or anything, it's just the truth. I got a transfer to attend a different high school, and now I am VERY happy there. If you actually care about your future, look into Spruce Creek or Atlantic. Please don't make the same mistake that I made. I'm going to be honest and tell you: Do. Not. Come. Here. I wish somebody would've told me that before.

As a teacher here, I'm very disappointed in the direction the school has gone. Several teachers have stated they would like to leave the school, and education in general after the disarray this year. The principal went forward with a plan to implement several different schedule changes, which has created chaos for faculty, administration, and staff. This plan was constructed "on the fly" with no guidance or accountability it seems, and after dropping from a "B" school to a "C" school, it will be miraculous if we do not drop to an "F". Students frequently skip, and the violence you hear about in the newspapers stems from a lack of structure/foresight by the administrative staff. They do not respect the teachers here, and the one saving grace, is the effort that each one of us puts in day in/day out. Each of us is dedicated to your children, and it is our hope, that our administration allows us to do so in 2017-2018 (those of us who remain). We frequently have high turnover due to the frustrations, and it's a shame to see such a wonderful place deteriorate so rapidly.

There is an awesome relationship between students and teachers here at Mainland. The teachers are mentors for us, always trying to keep our heads and are always there when we need them. They truly do push us to do better and are very proud to teach us everyday!

The best thing about this school is it's diversity among students. There is no discrimination here or stereotypes like other schools. Everyone is treated equally and respectfully.

Being a student at Mainland for four years was the best decision I've ever made! This school is like no other. Everyone who works here gives out so much love and dedication with Buc Pride! This school has amazing academies for all students and the opportunities for the Buccaneers are endless! Here at our Buc Paradise, we are family and Buc Pride Never Dies!

Our experience was not so good at this school. My interactions with the Guid. Counselor and Ass't Principal were not positive. It seems to me that the student and/or parent are considered a nuisance to many (not all) of the employees here. In trying to explain something to them, I was frequently cut off mid-sentence and made to feel like I was bothering or burdening them. My son is a high achiever. They attempted to get him to re-take the FCAT, which was completely unnecessary. We believe it was encouraged to help the school beef up its FCAT score average. We chose not to retest...but the office kept making attempts all the way to the end. Imagine sitting with your peers DURING your grad ceremony after receiving your diploma on stage, only to open up the black folder to find you didn't get a diploma like the guy next to you did. Devastating. We found out it was because they AGAIN mistakenly thought he had to take the makeup test...this was done despite telling (and proving to) MANY adults on campus that he did not have to retake it! Another senior was late 2 min to that same grad ceremony. They disallowed him to walk. Seems to me there's a lack of empathy for humans, here.

I am a parent of a mainland high school student.I have found most of the faculty members to be very caring and dedicated to the students. The engineering Academy is great. The variety of activities the students can participate in is fantastic. Truly something for everyone at mainland. I was concerned about the reputation and things I heard about mainland but have found those to be rumors mainly from uninformed individuals. Children need goals to succeed and teachers to help them along the way. Mainland provides paths in their academies and plenty of inspirational teachers asking the way.

I've worked here for the past 2 years and all I can say is this is a wonderful place to work. The principal is student-centered in absolutely everything she does, and is a top-notch educator and visionary. Wonderful place, high rigor in the upper-level classes, and a strong sense of family on campus. I'm sad that I will be leaving this year to pursue other goals in life, but will always look back on my time at Mainland with delight.
