So many good things to say about this school. For our experience, this school goes above and beyond to make sure their students succeed. I have had two children attend NSBMS and both have had a wonderful learning experience. On that note, I believe their success is due to the amazing teachers they had, their friendships and our involvement (as parents) and supporting the school. My husband and I are members of the NSBMS SAC committee. I highly encourage parents who have concerns to join this committee. Middle schools sometime get a bad rep, these ages are just so hard. Parent involvement is crucial, our teachers and administrators cant do it alone.

Worst school my child could go to in my opinion. I have left multiple messages for various " professionals" and have never received a reply. Those included are Guidance Counselor, Principal, and a math teacher. My son has been told by TWO teachers that he could not use the restroom or get a drink of water, and that if he did not like that " I'm sure you will have your mom email me to tell me about it". One openly admitted to making this statement. Disrespect from faculty to students happens almost daily in this school. If my son could go elsewhere, I would gladly take him. Unfortunately, this is the only one local for us and my ability to transport him to school due to my profession.

My kids rarely have homework, I'm not sure how they always mange to get things done in class.
Posted: February 3, 2020
Most of the teachers I have dealt with are caring and compassionate.
Posted: February 3, 2020
The only thing they taught my kid so far is they won't believe you, you can't trust anyone and you better hope no one decides to wrongfully accuse you because you will pay the price

I believe his hands are tied really and the only thing they can do is rule with an iron fist because they have too many kids and this is the only way to control them is to basically "treat them all the same" no matter what the circumstances are.

I don't have this issue so not sure
Posted: February 3, 2020
I believe administration teaches kids not to bully and then they turn around and bully kids themselves.

Pretty unhappy. I believe they desperately need to build another middle school. They are overcrowded and out of control.

I wouldn't recommend having a child that is sensitive and has a hard time learning to go to this school. yes they are trying to fix the behavior issues in the school and yes it is slowly starting to work. but you cannot change a student in 9 months. Academically yes thats possible. Emotionally and or physically its not the student needs encouragement and time to change in such ways.

The school has not really given students homework I'm not sure if it i just certain teachers or the school in general but with homework and even classwork not many students decide to turn it in which is ridiculous

Not many teachers get onto the bad students. Its always the good students are at risk then the bad ones because of behavior issues at this school
Posted: October 28, 2018
Many student hit one another in a violent way. Some curse at teachers. Others throw things in class or constantly disrupts class.
Posted: October 28, 2018
Even though there are some good qualities in leadership. Many students get away with basically telling another student what todo as if they were a teacher. Some students get away with yelling at teachers because they can't have a phone out or they don't want to do the work
Posted: October 28, 2018
Some students understand and some don't but teachers do try there best to explain to students who don't understand
Posted: October 28, 2018
Many students get away with bullying because students do not know how to speak up. I have already got a separation paper signed by myself and another student because they were being rude and uncivilized with me

My 8th grade son has been assaulted 4 times at New Smyrna Beach Middle School. We had to press charges against a violent student last year, who was expelled. This year same story. My only choice is to get an attorney.

My son has had a good experience at NSB middle. We moved here during Christmas break of his 8th grade year. He has maintained his A gpa in advanced classes. He's also made great new friends and is very happy there. The teachers are excellent and the principal is very caring, professional and keeps parents informed. Just hoping the county allocates funding for a new or rennovated school, as it is very old.

This school is great for my child's learning experience. The teacher are kindhearted and care but are strict and firm to teach life skills.Hallways are a 2.5 in cleanness out of 5 as well as the cafiteria which serve what the call "food".

I am an 8th grader at this school. This school is literally the worst ive been too. The principals do nothing about the drama and when you go to the councilors. All they say is "Ill keep an eye out" or talk to the kids. But that doesnt help anything out or anyone? It still brings kids more drama. Than fights break out. There at that school they have a program called ARC. And kids are getting in trouble on purpose. And arent learning there lesson. They also tell students they arent being bullied. If the parents come in and tell the principals what is happening with your child. They are also going poor bc teachers and other staff who substitute there. Never come back bc the kids are so violent, and they take over everything and everyone. Most of the teachers get in your face and tell you, your stupid. NOTTT A GOOD SCHOOL FOR YOUR KIDS!

I taught here and would not want my own children to go to this school.

I'm a student at New Smyrna Beach middle school. New Smyrna is not a good middle school to be at. New Smyrna is the worst school to go to. I've been trying to tell my mom to let me go to Creekside or somewhere else besides our middle school cause is not a good school to go to I don't even want to go to our high school either is not even good either for what it is if you who ever get a chance to leave our middle school don't come back or don't even think about coming here

This is the worst school ever never changes. They are not equipped to take care of disabled children. But they will not let my son be transferred out.

I'm an 8th grader at New Smyrna Beach Middle. I've been at the school for two years and is something happens, it spreads fast. There are some teachers that are alright and some that are wonderful but other than that it is not a safe place. They have this room in the school called ARC(attitude re-adjustment center) for all of the kids that get referrals or lunch detentions. I will tell you one thing, it is anything but a punishment. Lot's of people love ARC and get in trouble just to get in there. And most of all, they never learn their lesson. Most of the time the administrators never take the correct disciplinary action. Rumors and threats swarm the school and the administrators KNOW and don't do anything about it. And when you go to a guidance councler all they say is 'Oh, we will keep an eye out.' They only take action when there is physical contact and usually it isn't a fair action. But what about all of the students that are threatened and humiliated? I've been humiliated plenty of times and tried to get help and they don't do anything. There are also students that get special treatment. And don't think that I'm a 'know it all,' I see what happens and it isn't right.
