Orange Park Junior High has serious and ongoing issues with student safety, discipline, and teaching quality. Fights happen almost daily, and even when students are disciplined, they often return within a day or two. Bullying is rampant, and defending yourself can lead to even more conflict. Drugs, smoking, and explicit inappropriate materials are found in bathrooms, creating an unsafe environment. Teachers often seem disengaged, many have quit over the years, and disruptions are common even during important tests like the FAST. The cafeteria is poorly managed, with students excluding others from seating, and when fights break out, hallways erupt into chaotic, dangerous scenes that put bystanders at risk. In its current state, this school cannot be recommended.

This school is terrible. The class is always so loud, and the teachers never do anything about it or even try to do anything about it because they are always on their phones paying no attention to the class at all.
There are fight almost every day, all the kids are disrespectful. it's just horrible.
The school food is also always not cooked right. It's always cold and hard. AND it's about the same meal every single day.
seriously if you want your kid to have a good education then PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!
to put it into perspective i just came to this school in august. My old test scores were 3s and 4s. Then when i came to this school they all went down to 1s.
I'm moving away thankfully have hopefully going to go to a way better school. Just please if you're reading this, just find another school this one is horrible. worst school I've ever been to and I've lived in different countries and many states.

I got beat up really bad and when I told the teachers they did not care, and by the same people that beat me up I got told to kill myself and to cut my wrists

It’s crazy like the class is always is loud and other students are being rude and being rude to teachers sometimes but it’s a good stuff but the school when u have a headache you have to call home or go back to class

I go to this school and the fights are crazy. There is a fight every week and even when the students tell them that someone is trying to fight them the do nothing about it. I have learned more in elementary than here. All the teachers do is yell and threaten to call admin. They assign way to much homework and never teach. Im a athlete and play 3 sports for opj and the coaches are probably the beat thing about the school. This school has changed me in a negative way. My innocence was taken away at this school and i will never be the same.

They just give us too much and don’t take the idea that people are going through stuff at home into consideration. I hate this school so much. :(

Not at all. I went through bullying there and lost a lot of friends. Teachers did nothing.

It's pretty noice. I ain't complatin' (complaining/hating). It could be a better school but you know what... We all fam doe! Some of the teachers are noice and I made best friends there, we fam now.

Lol overall, it's a good school. Some things need to be fixed but in general, if you're planning to transfer school this year, you'll do just fine. We got some cool 8th graders to guide you, I would shout out myself and the fam but nah~ Good luck new kids!

If you are a student or a parent anticipating starting school at OPJH, have no worries! This school has a somewhat bad reputation, but my experience here has been quite on the contrary. The only complaints I'd have to make is that I wish there were more activities that suited my interests. I don't particularly like sports, band, or the limited academic teams. The Gifted program here is great! I have been in the Gifted program since 3rd grade and I must say, if you have an intelligent or "gifted" kid, you really should consider putting them in this program. You have the same teachers for your core subjects both years and they have many exclusive Gifted nights for parents and awards ceremonies. The teachers and faculty here are generally nice. The guidance counselor, Mrs. K, though is really helpful and you should turn to her if you ever have any questions. Overall, this school is average. It's not amazing, but it's not a complete trash dump. There have no problems and I can't wait to start school at Orange Park High School next year!

My daughter had been going here for over 1 year. She loves it. She plays sports, chorus, goes to football games. The focus portal keeps me up to date on her grades. The teachers respond quickly to emails and phone calls.

My child is just finishing up her first year at OPJH. I heard many bad comments and had many friends who personally warned about how horrible it would be here. However, I actually went to junior high there and I think I am ok :) Also, I wanted my daughter to go to school in the neighborhood as I had shipped her off for elementary and felt that she missed out on making friends in the neighborhood. So the experience this year has been fabulous, all worry over nothing. She is happy, healthy, engaged, made many new friends and is up early and happy to go to school every day. She enjoys her teachers, they are engaging and available. There is also free tutoring before and after school if you need it, plus many other opportunities to be busy. My only disappointment has been with parental involvement. It is such a huge drop from elementary school. Of course, I have been less involved also, but it seems when they need something from the parents, few step up. If you are zoned for here, do not worry and go in with an open mind.

I'm a parent of a 2 girls, they are little body, look like they are still in elementary, but they are good girls with good grade and they love to participate in sport, cheer leading, music, help others, etc. and I'm new in this area and I would love to know if this school is going to be good for them or lakeside junior high is better for them, I hear bad suggestion about OPJH school and I need to know if is true or not.... PLEASE if someone read this and can help me to make a good decision for the best of my girls please write something to me I will appreciate....THANK YOU
