SPC is not safe and is run by two women who gaslight parents, children and staff. It is exclusively a teach to the test school. If subjects are not on the state test they will not be taught to the children. Safety and lack of it would be my highest concern as a parent or new employee. The standard for acceptable behavior is extremely low which leads to extensive loss of learning time in all grades which will stunt learning if your child attends multiple years. Behavior records are falsified, situations not reported to parents and the school is a revolving door of employees which explains a lot. Beware that a behavior unit of emotional disturbed children is housed on campus. The age range goes as high as 14 years old age. This behavior unit is understaffed and these children roam campus with little control
due to the nature of public school laws and under staffing. Please consider this when thinking about sending your sweet young children to SPC.

This school is not what it used to be. Any concerns brought to the principal's attention are not addressed. Some of the teachers are unprofessional and unsupportive. If your child has a 504 or IEP, they act like your child is a burden or is taking advantage of the accommodations. There's a reason the school's test scores have consistently declined. And the once great Montessori program is a joke now! It's good for pre-k and lower elementary, but not for upper elementary!

This school is amazing and this goes to show that the ratings on this site are skewed by whatever statistics are used to create the scores. If you are looking to move within the Clay County school district in the SPC zone please dont hesitate. The Montessori program is top notch but weve done traditional and Montessori here and have no complaints about either. If Id have one to say its the teacher turn over rate can be high but that is not because of the school. We are talking about ppl with real lives and things come up just like with other jobs so I cant fault them for that. The teachers weve seen leave were family or medical related so not a true indication of turnover or maybe have other job opportunities they cant pass up. It is a small zone and they dont have busses. If they did, it would be a bit more convenient for working parents.

They have a wonderful inclusion problem and kids in self contained classes spend a lot of activities being mainstream

I never hear about bullying, the school is like an extension of my family

The teachers principal and others are so friendly and nice. They are always willing to work with families. Also Im dont know where this site gets its info, but SPC is an A school with a full time police officer on campus- officer Lee is great - a psychologist, a nurse, counselors, and a social worker. Great teachers here!!!
