My son is in Kindergarten and they are teaching him how to read, but that's the only good thing I have to say unfortunately. He has been to daycare and pre k, I wish i was zoned for his old school. They have made it to where he hates going to school. He has a formal discipline referral (which is what they give for students fighting or threatening someones safety) for standing on a chair in the lunchroom and he has been sent to ISS for coloring on a laptop. I have been called to speak to a guidance counselor for his use of the word booty and him dancing. Again, he is 5. I've gotten so many messages about him not listening or paying attention. As I have stated previously I have never had this many issues with a school or learning facility before. This is kindergarten for crying out loud.

My 9yo has been going to Southport elementary since Pre-K, now in 4th grade. This an amazing school with wonderful teachers and staff. My son makes straight A's and excels in everything he does. Being in a small town school where you grow up with your friends, and all the staff know you is an amazing place to be. Go Eagles. We love you and what you do for our community.

Both of my daughters attend Southport Elementary. We love it. I love that they teach kindness & respect towards others, patriotism & community service. This is an amazing school! I am very blessed that my girls are getting such a strong foundation to carry with them into the world.
