Good morning,
I would like to respectfully share a concern regarding the morning drop-off process at Coral Park High School.
Traffic in the surrounding area is extremely heavy and often unpredictable, especially during peak hours and in inclement weather. Even when families plan ahead and leave early, there are situations where arriving exactly on time becomes very difficult.
This morning, during rainy conditions, I arrived at approximately 7:19 AM and witnessed the gates being closed while several parents were still actively dropping off their children. Situations like this create unnecessary stress for both parents and students, and can also raise safety concerns when cars are forced to rush or adjust suddenly.
I would like to suggest considering a small grace periodperhaps 3 to 5 minutesbefore marking students as late. This type of flexibility would acknowledge real traffic conditions while still maintaining overall structure and accountability.
The goal is not to encourage lateness, but to support students and families who are making a genuine effort to arrive on time under challenging circumstances.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I truly appreciate the work the school does for our students and hope this suggestion can help improve the morning experience for everyone.

Administration and teachers are very dedicated! Great Engineering Magnet Program. During open house, met my sons Nutrition and Wellness teacher. Interesting class. They will actually learn how to cook healthy meals.

My family's history with MCP Sr HS goes back to 1963 when it was founded. My two cousins and I started H.S. then and attended Coral Park through our High School years and loved the school. It was and still is a great school with great programs. My daughter graduated in 1987, my grandson and granddaughter are both graduates of Coral Park as well. Our family still maintains the MCPSH connection and will continue to do so as my son-in-law is a very dedicated teacher at CP and has been for many years. The teachers give more than 100% of their time and dedication to their students and for the success of the school. They have a top engineering and cross-country programs for their students. My family and I strongly recommend and support Miami Coral Park Senior High school without a doubt !!!!

As a proud teacher of 34 years I would say that Miami Coral Park Senior is a wonderful school and I would not trade it for another school. The Teachers are awesome and we have a very good Administrative staff that is always willing to assist. The custodial staff is friendly and always willing to assist. The food service employees are always willing to give a helping hand. The diverse student population makes it a great place.

As a proud teacher in this school I know first hand that this is one of the best schools in our MDCPS District. In spite of the peculiar school year we had due to the pandemic, our school results in the last state wide tests were excellent. All 6 of my children attended Miami Coral Park. My 3 older children are University Graduates and successful individuals. My younger 3 children are attending University now and are well prepared and doing great. As a parent I am truly thankful to all of their teachers and the support and encouragement they gave my kids. They entered University prepared and confident individuals. My kids still talk about the experiences the had at Coral Park. Truly a hidden gem of a school.

I went to Coral Park all four years and I can truly say my life changed in this place, in middle school I hung out with the wrong people and when I started Coral Park I had no intention of actually caring for my education. However, many teachers like Mr. DeLaO, Mrs.Bown, Mr.Rodriguez and the amazing team of counselors quickly changed my mind and got me into the right path, not only educationally but personally. I had all support all around and I will forever be grateful to Coral Park for my experience.

I have been associated with Miami Coral Park High School since 1966. I am a graduate of the Class of 1981. I am presently beginning my 29th year of teaching here at CP. Miami Coral Park High School has always been the "BEST KEPT SECRET" in Miami-Dade. The students, teachers, staff, and administration that have graced the halls of this institution is up there with the BEST OF THE BEST in this county, state, and country. The Engineering Magnet Program since its inception in 1988 is undoubtedly one of the best magnet programs in this country and it happens to be the longest running magnet program for high schools in this county. The partnership with the Florida International University (FIU) Engineering Department since 1988 allows the senior students to take Dual Enrollment (DE) engineering courses such as Engineering Drawing, SOLIDWORKS, C Programming for Engineers, and JAVA Programming during school hours and allows the engineering students to acquire college credits as high school students. With the recent addition of the Biomedical Magnet Program along with the Architecture/Construction Magnet makes this school so unique as compared to other schools in the county. I would challenge anyone and everyone to come and visit and not rely on internet jibber jabber. Come here and witness it yourselves.

I love this school!!!! The students are well behaved and my child has never had any bullying or negative issues there. The staff and administration are 100% student advocates. They have always made time to listen to parent concerns and followed up with us. I graduated from another Miami Dade County Public school. I wish I had attended Coral Park. If I had more children, they definitely would be attending Coral Park.

Coral Park Senior has so much to offer. The performing arts department is a wonderful outlet for students to show off their creative side. They offer performances, creative opportunities, stress relief outlet, field trips, shows and so much more. The dance team is award winning, along with our band, and drama program. Students have moved on from CP to go to New World College, Juilliard dance programs, Berkeley School of music, etc.

I have been teaching at CP for 25 years and it is my alma matter as well. It is the place where I met my husband and many friends who are still in my life. It is a second home to me. I love the feeling of family that CP provides. Teachers are passionate about seeing students succeed, creating an environment of kindness, acceptability and leadership. Our students are caring individuals who have the opportunity of being engaged in a multitude of courses, clubs and sports. Take advantage of all that Coral Park has to offer. Both of my kids attended Miami Coral Park Senior High School. One was part of the Engineering Magnet and went to off to super prepared based how easy his engineering coureses were from how prepared he left MCPSHS. As for my other child, she just graduated and even during the pandemic, was involved in her community through the leadership of her club teachers. She entered FIU early and also won an internship that was arvertised to her through On the Job Training (OTJT) representative at the CP. I am extremely appreciative to all the teachers and staff at the school. Definitely highly, recommend the school to parents looking for a great and caring staff that always goes above and beyond for the kids!

Miami Coral park is truly a bright light of public education that has been kept in the dark. the bad reputation that has been give to this school is greatly undeserved. It is a school filled with programs to prepare their students for life after high school. No matter if they choose to continue their education or join the work force, MCPSH can prepare them to be successful in their future plans. With the amazing magnet programs that have found national recognition and success to the drafting and construction program, each student has an opportunity to prepare themselves for the rest of their lives. People need investigate and make an opinion for themselves about Miami Coral park. The problem in the area is that people are going of a 20 year old reputation with out finding out what new innovations and programs the school has now. Once people see the schools data comapaired to the other area schools they will see that Coral park is surpassing the area schools academically.

Coral Park is a neighborhood school with two strong magnets, The Engineering, Architecture and Construction Magnet and The Biomedical Magnet. It has a fabulous visual and performing arts program with amazing AP art results. The school has great potential and many opportunities for students to succeed at all levels. They are prepared for post graduate 2 year and 4 year colleges and universities as well as other certification and training opportunities. CP is a hidden gem that more families should consider.

My son transferred from a very small school to Miami Coral Park senior high school. He wanted to get used to bigger environment. though he was terrified in the beginning of school year. when he was graduating last year he said that was the best thing that has happened to him . I asked him what he loved the most about Coral Park. He said Coral Park has a Great communal environment. Teachers are amazing. I graduated from Miami Coral Park in 2008. I remember my time in CP very fondly. My teachers were kind and caring and they helped getting me through the toughest time in my life as I adapted to being in the country.
When I graduated from college this was the first and only school I applied to. I am very proud to teach in this school that means so much to me and getting a peek behind the curtain. Our school is full of educators who deeply care about our students and their learning. I personally love teaching and my classroom is a place of experimentation and an open forum for the pursuit of scientific knowledge.

Miami Coral Park Sr. High School is a great school with an INCREDIBLE Engineering magnet. Not only did I and my husband graduate from CP back in 1983 but we sent our 3 children to CP and don't regret it for a minute. Our children were all in the Engineering magnet and was of great academic benefit to each who are now all professionals.
CP is a school that employs various teachers that were once students. When a staff member returns to their own high school, that speaks volumes!

I am proud to say my three kids are CP alumni. My oldest was an Engineering Magnet student that went on to graduate as a Florida Gator majoring in Agricultural Engineering. My Middle child pursued a career in Teaching and recently earned her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. My son recently graduated and is starting the Fire Academy. My children flourished at Coral Park. This school and the dedicated staff helped form the human beings they are today. Simply said, they were educated, cared for and guided. Are there pros and cons... Sure, but in life, pros and cons are everywhere! Coral Park offers a top notch education if you choose to embrace it. The wrong path is not a given, it is a choice.
To all of those that submit bad reviews, I ask, what part did you or your child play while at Coral Park???

Too many wanna be gangsters and irresponsible staff, even the Principal won't take accountability. They let any kid go to this school even when they know the teenagers have behavior problems, too much bullying going on in this poorly develop school.
I don't recommend it to any parent with good kids.

The staff is mediocre, they lack accountability, problem solving, behavioral experience within different kid's personalities, they don't have idea how to deal with bullying, staff is not good at decision making. It's very sad to see this after so many years in business.

Hopefully they get better and changed the Principal and administration.

There are many teachers with a high preparation and very lovely. The school has organization. My son is leaving grade 9 and until now, I am very happy with all the staff. He has teachers with dedication and I think , they are working very hard. I am really happy for this reason.Some times many people , said me that Coral Park wasn't the best school for my son, I tried and my experience was amazing until now.

There are many teachers who genuinely care and teach well, but that does not go for all of them. The securities are absolute jerks. I tried going through a hallway where two students just went through. Despite a sign saying there was "gym testing", I figured I could go through. The security said "What? Can't you read? Get out". Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior.

The school is very in organized. Some teachers are good at what they do and others are sloppy. My teacher smokes a vapor shark in class and is rude at times. The best teacher I have is Ms.Rahouly. She is the best math teacher you will probably ever meet. Other than her I don't know any other teacher who is dedicated to his/her work and I think that should be something to talk about in a faculty meeting. Some teachers are very lazy and they are sitting down most or maybe all of class time. They teach a little and then assign book work. Other than that the school is ok. The school is maintained but not all the time. I see rotten food in the stair ways and sometimes roaches. There are reasons why I'm leaving this school. I don't suggest this school to anyone.

On a yearly basis my son complains claiming that nearly 50% of his teachers lack group control skills. They grade students basically for minimum efforts in class such as buying things from the teachers or buying basic school supplies for them. Students can get average to good grades with VERY MINIMAL EFFORTS on their behalf. They are not challenged intellectually and sadly over 50% of the students are so far behind in the minimum skills required to be at they should be at, that they drag the other percent down. Many claim to use email as a communication tool but many answer way over 2 days and even a week so by the time you get a response... the issue is beyond repair. Impossible to get sit downs with ALL teachers at once, even when escalating things to the principal. Only office that is efficient is the Registration Office. Mederos is Top Notch quality and seems to be the only one who knows how to run her area as per high standards. Had it not been because its so near graduation year, I'd move to another country!! HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!
