My child is autistic and has been in the Special Ed Program at Park for 8 years. The Program Director and school staff have been terrific in their teaching methods, their personal concerns for my child's progress and comfort while learning basic skills under their directions. They make every effort to obtain special tools my child may need to achieve his educational goals.

They give homework every night, from multiple classes, so students have no family time. My autistic son spends hours doing homework after all day at school.

They aren't allowed to be. They are forced to teach to test, not to teach. They aren't allowed to send disruptive students home or discipline properly.

The principal doesn't delegate. She rushes meetings and is therefore not an effective listener. She has help but refuses to use the people who want to help the students. She says she cares, but will not give students and teachers the tools they need to do their jobs. They have to fight for everything they need. Morale is low, yet she walks through the school like a smiling dictator, pretending all is well. Her minions are unhappy, and the turnover rate proves it. Many students have left, many who have been denied a 504 despite a diagnosis on file. She is a smooth talker. But she does not function as part of a team.

The principal heads up 504 meetings,and loves the phrase, "diagnosis does not equal disability." Then she says the 504 can be revisited. But it will not be. She ignores the issue until the child is failing and depressed and becomes a discipline problem.

Leadership at this school is highly lacking. They look out for only their kind. Which means, people who are from that area only. School needs a stronger and more fair leader. She is great at pretending like she cares but her true intentions are so horrible. They pick on certain kids and are really just not nice people if you are not from that area.

We are moving to Harris County and ALL the people I talked to mentioned two other elementary schools, but when I read the reviews of them versus Park, I am convinced my child will be at Park. Is Hamilton the City we have to live in?

My daughter started at Park this year and absolutely loves it!!! I have to agree with previous comments about the teachers treating the children as their own. My daughter is not a clingy child but she loves her teachers so much she misses them on the weekend. While the principal and her teacher are both new to the school this year they have been doing a wonderful job! My daughter has learned so much and she's only been in school for 2 months! They pay attention to the students' needs and the small class sizes really make a big difference! I'll admit the pre-school registration process is a big pain, however it's completely worth the trouble! These children are very fortunate to have teachers and administration that really go the extra mile to make their learning experience a meaningful and quality experience! I am thankful that I can trust them with my daughter's future, and I do completely!
