Just finished 8 consecutive years with our kids at Kennesaw Mountain. We had a positive experience with all of our students, from academics to sports, clubs and student life. All my Mustangs got in to the great schools of their choice, and between Zell and scholarships, it was easier on our wallets. Thanks for great memories and happy and productive graduates, Kennesaw Mountain!

Kennesaw Mountain is one of the best schools in Cobb county. Not only are they one of the only certified STEM Magnet programs in the county, they're also focused on student success in areas such as Fine Arts and CTAE.

Academically great! Terrible for student athletes who are passionate and looking to pursue their careers in the sports world. Softball and basketball varsity coaches are horrible, softball coach is the seniors best friends,NO communication skills. There are plenty of athletes that are better than the the ones they cater to because their parents is on the booster club. Please transfer if your kids are playing softball and basketball. Booster club in a deficit and just taking parent's money to recoup their losses from the year prior. No coaching skills at all. Chapman and Jesse Bonner was the best that pass through there as coaches.

First child in high school, and it has been an excellent year. My child is in the Magnet program, and it has been a wonderful experience. Very challenging, but the kids are supported and guided very well. There are countless programs, clubs and activities to engage any and all students. Communication to parents is very good. Sports programs at all levels are well done. We are proud to be Mustangs!

Because they take homework for a grade but if the student doesnt quite understand something the teacher will give them another day with maybe 10 points off the grade

I have 2 students that currently attend KMHS and I would definitely recommend this high school. Our experience so far has been positive both academically and socially. KMHS has the following AP Honor designations: AP STEM School, AP Merit School, AP STEM Achievement School and APAP Humanities School. The Mountain was ranked #12 out of 426 by NICHE for 2017 Best Public High Schools in Georgia. Kennesaw Mountain is also STEM certified by the state of Georgia. Students at the high school started the SWAM (Shop with a. Mustang) program and have assisted many area high schools and colleges with creating similar programs at their schools. Kennesaw Mountain also hosts the Cobb County Special Education Dance and Field Day, the student government (MANE Link) organizes, plans and executes these events. These event are absolutely amazing. You won't find any other high school in the area that is as committed to community service and developing students for every day life as KMHS. Administration is also professional and staff always willing to help.

The teachers at this school are very non professional, some of them have cursed in front of students and dont get work put in the system on time. Dont even let me get started on administration. There response time is ridiculous, they treat the kids as they are criminals when in trouble and counselers are very non personable. If you have a choice to send your child to a different school, do it .

While the magnet program has been very challenging, my son has still had a great overall high school experience. He has been part of service projects, academic clubs, fine arts, and sports. As a senior, I feel like this school helped him be well-rounded and prepared for the next phase in life.

My daughter came from a private school and we worried about sending her to a public school (and she did not want to go). She loves it. We (both she & I) find the teachers very supportive and there are lots of different activities for kids to get involved in to make high school a more enjoyable experience.

Parent of two magnet students. And my kids have access to a top-notch stem program, plus all the benefits of a large high school with a multitude of options for music, theater, sports and clubs. Teachers take time to meet my daughter outside of class hours with concepts she has struggled with. She doesn't make nearly as many As as I would have liked, but I do believe she is learning the subject matter with help from her teachers.

Thankfully, my daughter has not been summoned to the principal's office. That said, the Principal and Asst-Principals are easily available and take the time to return phone calls or voice mails and do seem to act on concerns I have raised.

Coming from a private K-8 school, we had our concerns with "public" schools. The KMHS family has been warm and welcoming. My daughter is a Magnet student and a member of the Band and we have seen her grow and blossom. She is challenged academically every day. We are extremely happy with the support and emphasis the administration and Cobb County Schools place on the Fine Arts education.

The school is not a supportive school. The administration could care less about the students success in the classroom-allowing teachers to show movies that do not pertain to the subject being taught. My child was shown a Disney movie instead of going over the material for their finals.
In a previous post dated Sept 1(see below). Not sure if you are a Marietta parent but I was personally on the field that night taking pictures and it was not our players doing the hitting a tripping. Our coach runs a class a program!!! If you were there you would have seen it all for yourself that our coach was trying to prevent any more problems caused by the opponent. I would say as a parent of two children both playing sports, the football program is by far the best sport to play there at the school. Great coach and human being-can't say that about any other coach over there!!!

Lots of challenging AP classes, as well as many opportunities for club participation. I have 2 kids who have gone to KMHS. The school is quite large, and if your student prefers a smaller learning environment, this is not the school for them. Students in the magnet program seem to thrive, in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere. If you are considering a magnet school, KMHS is great!!

The school does not support a healthy team playing mentality. We recently played Kmhs football team. During the game the kids were allowed to punch one player, trip another... And I was appalled that at the end of the game the head coach decided that the football players did not need to line up and shake the other teams hands . Very disappointed by this school.

The administration, some teachers, and most staff take advantage of their positions and don't care about students whatsoever. Would never attend this school again or send my kid here. It used to be good until a new principal took over.

My daughter is a junior this year and I am considering transferring her to another school! I thought Kennesaw mountain high school would be good for her but it is not. The teachers are only concerned with the magnet students not regular students. I also don't feel our black, Latinos and other minority races are been treated fair like the white students. I am very disappointed and do not want my child to graduate from Kennesaw mountain high school!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had 3 boys attend KMHS all on different learning levels but none in Magnet. When the oldest started it was a good school. The principal was on top of everything and she ran a tight ship but the students still respected her. Once she retired it went down hill unless you were a magnet student. There dors not seem to be any checks or balances to keep up with the students meeting graduation requirements and when I personally pointed it out nobody seemed concerned because he was only a sophomore. When I pointed it out second semester his jr year they still were not concerned. At the end of his jr year I knew he could not graduate with his class if I left him there. He did graduate on time but not from KMHS.

Going down hill quickly. Teachers vary tremendously. All the focus is on the Magnet students, Special Needs and Athletics. Mainstream students don't get individualized instruction at all, and any request for help gets the response to go to online sources and learn it yourself. I'm contemplating private school or moving out of the district:(

We have moved frequently due to a military career and job transfers. I have raised 4 boys who have attended 4 different high schools. I typically don't write reviews but thought it would be appropriate to let you know this is the worst H.S. out of the four I have been associated with. I have left voice messages that haven't been returned, emails that gave been unanswered at times, and the treatment of students seems to be more impersonable compared to the other schools my childrewn have attended. If I could do it over, I wish i had bought a home in the neighboring school.
